(Right, so, the rules stand thus:
1. Read the title. Hopefully it gives you some clues as to the required skill level and the setting.
2. Live up to the title:
a. Do not godmode.
b. Try to avoid one-liners, except in cases of writer's block.
c. Pay attention to your spelling and grammar.
d. No chatspeak will be tolerated except OOC.
e. INDICATE your OOC, I don't care how as long as it's clear.
f. Be original.
g. My word is law.
3. If you do not understand any of the rules, you probably shouldn't be here.
4. Keep it PG-13 or above; minimize cussing, and exclude explicit content.
5. This shall be long-term; I can usually only be on once or twice a week, and not for long, so this'll probably be the sort of roleplay where you check back and reply once every couple of days, unless we happen to be on at the same time.
6. Your intros can be in list OR paragraph form, just be sure to give us enough information to work with. They don't have to be as long as mine.
7. If I'm not here, go ahead and post; but beware, any objectionable material (whether it's not obeying the rules, not meeting literacy requirements, harassing other players, and the like) will get you booted out of here as soon as I get back.
8. All races are allowed, but be sensible; if we're in a snowy forest, and your character is a mermaid, you're probably on the wrong board.
9. Read the intro, and try to skim at least some of the posts that come before you get here. I don't want people talking about a desert if I'm at the ocean.
10. Post Icy if you have read this.)
(My intro shall take a moment...)
Elatine, home of the Arche, lay along the borders of the sea in the North. The Arche prided themselves on being the only race able to thrive in the icy region. They farmed snowsbane and mined moonsilver, commodities so expensive in the Southern lands that only royalty could afford them, and sold both by the ton. Traders came and went from the central city of Mortain so frequently that a track, known as the Silver Road, was worn deep into the ice.
The Arche themselves were a very refined people. Their nobility were welcomed in every court in the world as wise and peaceful counselors, and their mages were constantly at work improving the standard of living and creating new entertainments. The cities were carved out of the very ice, spiral towers and ornate palaces rising above the frozen terrain.
Of course, there is always a lower class in every race. The Shadowed lived in the tunnels and caverns in the base of the city, rarely rising above the status of servants or minor craftsmen. But every once in a while, one raised him- or herself above those conditions and became renowned in his or her field.
But Arche politics and society meant very little to the Dorneda. This lizard-like people had had their eyes on the land of Elatine for centuries, and were beginning to move against the Arche. Several villages on the borders of the country had already fallen, and a larger-scale attack was being planned...
I hope you finish soon, I'm looking forward to playing.
(So, you can be any race, including Arche and Dorneda.

Arche are mostly humanoid, but have long, furry tails and slit-pupiled eyes, and are generally very even-tempered. The best fighters are in the Elite Guard, quartered near the palaces in the major cities. Other warriors are in the Border Guard. It is a misnomer; for the last thousand years, they've been spread throughout the kingdom, not just on the borders.

Dorneda are scaly, with no hair and a fin-like ruff on the back of their necks and shoulders. They are generally prone to mood-swings, and are usually looking for a fight. The majority of the Dorneda army is camped along the east borders of Elatine.

UPDATE: Right, sooo... this is one of a group of roleplays, the Celestial Shadows roleplays. You can jump between them; for instance, have your character start here and travel to Re'ae, where one of the others takes place. Or, you can just stay here. The links are:

Evara lounged on the edge of a fountain, trailing her fingers in the warm water. Her long, red-brown hair was blown softly about by the snowy wind, tickling the back of her neck. Her striped tail twitched with amusement as she thought of the results of her latest scheme. It had been priceless: Lord Kevendra had nearly exploded when the bucket of dishwater had fallen over him, and better yet, his bratty nephew Doldrid had gotten all the blame.
"Teach him to call me cat-face," she laughed to herself, green-gold eyes flashing. In truth, her eyes had a very feline appearance, but the effect was not unpleasant, and the young noble had been way out of line. Especially since he was supposed to be courting Evara.
"I don't know why they bother. I've not met anyone I'd be interested in marrying, and I'm not about to go for some minor lord with more peacock clothes than brains." It would be a definite boost to her position; technically, she wasn't part of the nobility. But her father being a fine jeweler with a good-sized fortune, and herself not being entirely unattractive(though she didn't recognize it; she was far too busy riding roldrims and training with the guards), she had attracted the attention of young men far above her station.
"It's not as though there's not half a dozen princesses and ten times as many ladies who're elligible. Why they have to come and bother me is quite beyond my ability to comprehend."
"You shouldn't talk that way. They do you a great honor." Sir Morble frowned as he approached his daughter.
"Less honor and more harm, dear Father. I haven't got in an hour of practice all week, and Beltimay is withering in her stall. And I don't like having to wear dresses." She plucked at the pale green silk, embroidered with white roses, that she'd been forced into that morning. "It's hardly dignified to be tripping over my skirts all day."
(Soooo... *waits*)

((I'm kinda just gonna barge myself in...))

Luca pulled her furs up higher around her dark shoulders and huffed out a cloud of icy breath, she hated getting to Evara's just as her and her father got into the same argument. She huffed again at the thought of her being the main influence on her, but she couldn't help it. Her and Evara have been together forever. An older man walked by, staring absent-mindedly, and Luca huffed. It was disgusting. Sure, she had a deep tan and white hair and bright almost white eyes, but that didn't mean anything. She sighed again, and leaned on the wall behind her sliding down until she sat on the ground.
Evara smiled at her father. That charming smile always got her out of trouble. "I do believe Luca has arrived. Surely you won't object if she and I go for a ride?"
Morble sighed, knowing he was being manipulated and not being able to do a thing about it. "Go ahead. And don't get into trouble."
"Oh, father, you know me better than that." Evara slid off the wall of the fountain, gave her father a quick peck on the cheek, and dashed over to Luca. "You brought your gear, right?"
Luca rolled her eyes, "Of couse." Luca smiled at Sir Morble, "Good day Sir!" She smiled wide and pulled her fur boots up on her tanned calves and smiled, then frowned looking at Evara's clothes, "I'm guessing your not ready yet?"
She frowned and sighed, "Lets go get you changed..."
"Well, it's hardly surprising. That idiot, Doldrid, called for a week straight before I ran out of excuses not to see him. He's as stubborn as he is spoiled." She sighed and began leading the way toward her bedroom. "And all the while he was bringing me presents. The wrong kind of presents. Like perfume. I haven't worn perfume since we snuck into my mother's room to play dress-up ten years ago. Remember?" She snorted. "We were so easily entertained..."
She laughed and covered her mouth with a thin hand, "Well, be happy you get called on by the attractive rich folk. Us poor 'uns have to try and find the best we can, even if he's 50 and I'm 19, ugh." She smiled, "Though..."
