Welcome to Gaia! ::

Alright, please tell me this.

Plexi_Lexi it seems has been banned from gaia. She is a well known user who does receive donations, even large ones.

People like her, and people like me do take donations to do our little charities and projects where we try to actually make price lower for those who are newer than us. We have actually tried to go against the grain of greed and try to help others out.

How does someone like her, or like I discern botted gold? It makes no sense to ban someone who receives gold or items as a donation especially since we would not know if it is botted or not.

How would I know that the gold being paid to me for a service is not botted?

This makes no sense. How can I trust exchanging gold or donations for the causes that I try to help out in?

So, how may I avoid such a fate when any one who does not like me can bot and then donate to me right after to get me banned?
There are multitudes of mules out there and people like us take it at face value and by faith that everything done is legitimate.

It does scare me to play this game at the moment as it seems the current climate would not allow me to just roam around as usual.

I've followed the TOS and have not broken it. How could I then protect myself from someone donating to me, that has broken it?

I'm curious about this too because I would think it would apply to people that sell art or breedables as well as exchange and marketplace. There's other ways of accepting gold than just donations. And as pointed out, there's no way to tell if the gold we are accepting is legit or not.

So I have to say I'm curious as well. It seems a lot of people are getting banned lately for this kind of stuff and are not directly involved with any botting. So as a long time user and member of this community, I'm quite worried.
I thought we could always ask a mod to check into it for us if we feared some large donation was botted. Has this changed?
Should I be worried about being banned because I've been buying and selling a lot in the past few days?

That is precisely our issue.
Users such as us would have mules that deal with donations. How can we guarantee something is legit or not? We tend to take things at face value, would I now have to check on every single person I trade with?

And if I have to ask a mod about every single trade that I do, then compound that with everybody else. You will have mods over-worked to begin with.

I think that's what we are wanting to find out. I run a breedable pet shop so I accept gold all the time from selling pets. But if someone got gold from a botted thing, or a glitch, how would I be able to know? I see a trade of 400k gold, and that's all I see, gold to buy one of my pets. There's no way to know if there's any botted gold mixed in so I think it's WRONG to ban people for it.

This is going to spread like a virus and gaia is going to take quite a hit if all it's old and new users are going to get banned left and right because of a scripting error that's misleading staff into think people are trying to exploit glitches.

stuff like this is very scary and I am a bit worried. This almost makes me want to shut down my shop so I can slightly protect myself.
With all the new easier ways of making gold on Gaia, I really don't see why people would be so stupid to bot gold in the first place. Although, like X said, there could be a user that wants me banned for some unknown reason and they could bot gold to get me banned.

I wish it was easier to check stuff like this out, without putting all the strain on the mods
That is my problem, would I have to then contact a mod each time I do a trade?
No matter how politely worded it would be, it would get annoying quickly.
eek Ugh, this is awful.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Because my Main account was abnned for accepting this botted gold. Personally I think it is unfair as well how was I suppose to know that this gold was botted. Gold is gold in my eyes.

I made a suggestion on what Mods could do about this, dont know if you like to read it or not, but here you go:

Plexi got banned?? crying NO!

But If you have a Bachelor cap in your inventory... You will get Banned. I made a big ranting forum right here.

There I proved my point about glitchers and the differences aren't really difference. neutral
I don't think it's because of botted gold.

But See I didn't have a reserved spot for a house. I was caught accepting botted gold from a user. I personally had no Idea what was going on and shrugged it off as a donation.
That is neither here nor there. The big question now is how does one avoid it?

Someone might not like my anti-inflation or charity practices and send me a donation. How could I protect myself from it?

There is the rub of it all, if such is the case, does it mean that to make sure that you don't get anything glitched or botted is to not trade at all, and not to play those games?

What is the point then? The point of this site is to have fun. How can a site be fun, when one has to worry about every single donation or trade that they get?

Pointless.

In the case of Plexi, no donation could have been so much that she could not have made it completely legit. This is senseless. Does this place even have a vetting process before banning someone?

Everlasting Chaos - Read her profile and her explanation then. It seems one can just be banned for accepting donated gold.

Did you already have a house placed in towns?
