When you dream at night, your spare thoughts are locked away deep in the recesses of your mind. But sometimes, when the visions of your sleep are particularly vivid, those dreams escape and become the Konpaku.

Now then, there are two lists within the Book. The first is a list of Seers -people who may recognize the dream people for what they really are. Following is the master list of Konpaku, organized in order of their discovery. (Note that Seers have IDs that allow for edits to information, inventory, and mood only while Konpaku have those features as well as a changing portrait.)

I was visited by that strange boy Nemuri again today. He can see the spirits now, so we're going to read over that old book and see if we can't figure out where they fit into all this madness. Did I mention that I found more things up in the attic? A bent screw and a super ball. Kinda random huh? And when I went outside, I found a four leaf clover in the same condition.

Perhaps this was the duty that Gypsy left behind for me...

Well, Rose has her own figment now by the name of Kitten. That, and all those glowing objects... They don't glow anymore. They are just as normal as always, but now I have 3 unusual little sprites floating about my house.

To add to the chaos, a young man named Nemuri broke in today! I hope my insurance covers insanity.

Creeper isn't alone anymore. Rose seems to have her own little figment running about. And the feather... Well, let's just say it's not a feather any longer. This strange little glow about it warped into a smokey thread for a while, and before I knew it, there was a ghost on my mantle. eek

A girl by the name of Rose came to visit me today. And the strangest/most relieving thing is that she can see these hallucinations too. It's hard to tell, but I may not be insane yet.

My collection seems to be growing. Today we found another strange object when I was weeding out the garden. There were a few cicada turrets here and there, but I was surprised to find a shed skin lying about in the grass. Yes, the cicadas were coming, but more importantly, the object was surrounded by tiny rings of light.

I put it on the shelf next to the feather. Creeper seems to enjoy levitating them, but he can't lift them very far or very fast.

I guess the only comforting thing about my psychosis is that these visions like to keep together.

PS: Seriously. They've been cropping up all over the place lately. Grandpa's cigar butt (I found it when I was looting my attic today) was glowing too. I'm not really ready to accept that I'm crazy, so I'm blaming the book.

I found a strange glowing feather on the ground today when Creeper and I were taking a stroll through the park. It was very pretty, so I've washed it off (rabies you know) and set it on the mantle of the fireplace. No one seems to notice it's strange aura either.

Well, I guess Creeper and I will have to stick this thing out together.

Bad news. A friend came over and when I was watching the little guy out in the garden, she wanted to know if I was feeling alright. I asked if she noticed anything strange about the yard (we were sitting on the porch at the time) and she said she didn't. No one else sees him...

The good news is, he isn't so bothersome when I'm concentrating on other things. He only seems to pester me when my mind is blank. He does grow on you though. I'll call him "Creeper" from now on. If I see any others like him, I'll just refer to it as a figment, for "figment of my imagination" since it seems these visions are private.

He's definitely not one of those dream people. The little guy has been levitating bread crumbs around my kitchen. So he's not very strong... but still. And he likes to sit on my head, even though I can't feel it (unless he levitates my hair, in which case I swat at him and he starts flopping around on the floor like a maniac). It's annoying and amusing all at the same time. Especially when you watch him dance about the air...

Okay! I am definitely not hallucinating. I took a nap after breakfast and when I woke up, that squirmy little ink spot was walking around my bed! Needless to say, I grabbed the nearest blunt object, which happened to be my shoe, and threw it at the little bugger and it went clear through him. I spent the next 20 minutes just staring at him until he became completely visible and the air around him stopped being greasey.

I checked back on the notes I took from the Book. Could this be the Konpaku it referred to?

He's been following me around the house for a while now and I'm not sure what to do.

I was running some errands today and noticed a strange distortion in the air by the dinner table... I rubbed my eyes to see if I wasn't just tired, but it was still there. It was funny really. I walked over and waved my hand through the glossy looking area and surprisingly, my hand sort of cut through it before the distortion sort of congealed. When I squinted I was even more surprised to see a small black creature hopping about the table.

Well that's an understatement. Rather, I freaked out and backed into the book shelf. Afterwards, I went and took some pain killers because of the headache I was getting. So many strange things all in a few days...

I admit to have been neglecting the book, but I had a good reason, right? I mean, Looking back at my previous entry... was I on drugs? I remember getting home late and tossing the book on my dresser before hitting the sack. I tried to ignore it yesterday as well.

But there's something about that book that draws me. It's obviously old and the pages are loose in some places, but for being so worn and considering where it's probably been, the book is in pretty good condition. The cover is just smothered in gold inlay and the text is written in a neat calligraphic hand. Speaking of which, when I opened the book, I couldn't read the words on the page, or at least that's what I thought. I blinked a couple of times and could read them, but I think the letters somehow changed... And if that wasn't strange enough...

The first page was a sort of instructional guide to "Seeing," note the capital. As I read, I began to understand something...

Children often play pretend, and adults will chastise them for their wild imaginations. But what if you weren't pretending? What if what you were seeing was real? I've written down a better description of these... things... elsewhere. (See 3rd post, "How to Play" for more info.)


April 25, 2004
On my evening stroll last night, the strangest thing happened... I had packed myself I small snack of fruit before making my way to the country road where I often like to walk. The sky was an especially lovely shade of indigo and the stars dappled it like a rash of summer freckles -quite lovely if I say so myself. Oh, and the crickets! They chirped and hummed as if to serenade the moon and the weather was almost dreamlike. There was a light breeze on which the scent of the more fragrant wildflowers clung...

Anyway, I was rather enjoying myself when a rickety caravan wagon appeared a little ways down my path. I could have sworn not to have seen it before hand, but in one moment it was there before me and the next thing I knew, the oddly dressed coach had pulled the shaggy black steed to a halt and beckoned for my audience.

I did as he asked, and when I was near enough to see clearly, it became apparent that the driver was not a man, but an elderly gypsy woman! I think I must have hesitated to introduce myself because she shot me a stern look, but my eyes couldn't believe the sight. A gypsy! I had heard about their travels as a child, but never had I seen, let alone met one. And what a sight it was.

The woman was wrinkled as a prune and older than dirt (pardon the expression), yet beneath the crevaces of her face there was that hint of majesty. The woman's clothing was brightly colored and decked with gaudy gold pieces. Her carriage was like that of the circus' with it's brightly painted boards and delicate carvings. Several pots and pans tinkled from the place where they were strung, all in a row. I found it both charming and extremely curious...

Abruptly in the middle of my musing, the old hag grabbed me by the chin and asked, "Have you ever dreamed of what lies beyond?" It was like hearing nails on a chalkboard and the odd question only made it more painful. I kind of winced and jerked away, but her grip was stoney and would not relent.

"I don't know what you mean," I spat. The gypsy only smiled and it awakened a sick dread in the pit of my stomach. When she finally did release me, it was only to grab my wrist instead. Her withered fingers read my palms as her eyes searched my body for something. The hag was sizing me up! She shoved a thick book at me and jabbed my stomach with one long boney finger.

"The Book is yours for my days are nearly spent. The burden is no longer mine!" Suddenly the reigns snapped again and the horse began trotting along the country road in the opposite direction. As I ran to catch up and return the tome, the woman shouted loud and clear above the crickets, "You will See again!"

And away she galloped, into the misty distance.

<center>-----Roleplaying Rules-----</center>

All hail Airez for providing us with this nifty set of RP rules below!

1. Do NOT, under any circumstance, God-Mod while roleplaying. This is one of the most annoying things one can do when roleplaying, and is looked down upon by most everyone. You can get hit and your attacks can be dodged.

2. Do NOT control another person's character with out their permission.

3. Seperate OOC from IC using (()) or which ever way you do so. Just make it clear to others.

4. Do NOT use leet or 1337 talk while roleplaying. You should be mature enough at this point to used proper words and sentences.

5. Use proper grammar and punctuation. Thats means dots at the ends of your sentences and capitalization where need.

6. Seperate actions from speech. Use either quotation marks or some action symbol such as *action* or how ever.

7. Don't assume your character is all powerful and all-knowing.

8. Be respectful to other roleplayers. Just because your character may be an a** doesn't mean you should be.

<center>-----How to Battle-----</center>

So you're looking for a fight... Then you've come to the right place. Below are discussed battle types, competions, and techniques. Be sure to read everything else come battle time you may find yourself at a disadvantage. Once you have finished, check under the "Arena" section for information on how to sign up/join a battle.


General rules that apply to all battles include:

- These rules are subject to change at any time.

- Roleplay is necessary. However, for the sake of the others involved, don't spend hours writing a beautiful post.

- All participants of a battle must agree on a single person as referree. The referree awards points (1-5 for Newbloods and Pupils, 5-10 for Carnali and Acolytes, and 10-20 for Deities, Scholars, and Masters) to augment the effects of your technique based on their opinion of the quality of your roleplay in battle. (More points for excellent posts, fewer points for poor posts.) Participants should try to find someone they feel will be a fair judge. When a referree is decided upon, that said referree must PM me confirming his/her acceptance of the job.

- You will respect any and all decisions and calls made by the sanctioned referee for your battle. Orphne also has the authority to override these decisions.

- The referree cannot be bribed. If I discover foul play, there will be severe penalties to all parties involved.

- Items to be used in battle must be purchased beforehand.

- More rules later...

<center>-----Battle Types-----</center>

There are four types of battles: sparring, free for all, matches, and battle royal.

<center>-----Sparring-----</center>

Sparring is a one on one battle. All character types, regardless of their stage, may enroll in a sparring session. Sparring bars the use of items and techniques and is a battle based solely on your ability to roleplay. As such, try to find a referree who is skilled in RP and will be just in awarding points.

<center>-----Free For All-----</center>

A free for all is a battle in which 3 or more characters will roleplay a fight. for large battles, the participants may wish to have more than one referree to cooperate in awarding points.

<center>-----Matches-----</center>

Matches are battles between two opponents. Techniques and items are in full effect, so keep an eye on your character's status ailments, inventory, etc. Also note that your Konpaku must be at least the level of a Newblood and your Seer at least the level of a Pupil.

<center>-----Battle Royal-----</center>

Like a free for all, except that techniques and items are in effect. A battle royal can be especially confusing, so keep in mind that your actions are to be directed toward one character. Also, please be understanding of the referree and respectful of the time they are giving to run your battle. These things can be especially complex. Note that your Konpaku must be at least the level of a Newblood and our Seer at least the level of a Pupil.

Occasionally we will hold special tournaments for prizes and awards. Check the "Arena" for updates on upcoming competitions.

<center>-----Techniques-----</center>

Note to Refs: use a randomizer for the point value of a technique based on the range listed beside it.

Boxing Feat: Deals physical blows with above average skill.Cost: 5 EP Effect: Deals 10-15 HP damage Duration: 1 turn

Dagger Tear: Lunges with the dagger at a vital organ. Cost: 10 EP Effect: Deals 15-20 HP damage Duration: 1 turn

Death Glare: Stuns the oppenent for a few moments with an icy stare. Cost: 5 EP Effect: Opponent deals half damage on next turn Duration: 1 turn

Decibel Shriek: Screams at such a high pitch as to break the oppenent's ear drums and temporarily confuse him/her. Cost: 5 EPEffect: Deals 1-5 HP damage and inflicts confusion Duration: 1 turn

Paper Cut: Using paper utencils, slashes at the enemy with such precision that the deadly effects aren't felt until moments later. Cost: 10 EP Effect: Opponent suffers 1-25 HP damage on your next turn Duration: 1 turn

Poison Darts: Damages the opponent with multiple darts, sometimes poisoning him/her. Cost: 10 EP Effect: Deals 10-15 damage with a 20% chance to successfully poison the opponent Duration: 1 turn; if poisoned, 3 turns or until cured

Shadow Ambush: Hides in the shadows and surprises the enemy to deal a greater amount of damage. Cost: 5 EP Effect: Deals 5-10 HP damage Duration: 1 turn

Suffocation Grab: Asphyxiates the oppenent and possibly knocks him/her out. Cost: 10 Effect: Opponent suffers 1-5 HP damage with a 33% possibility for opponent losing his/her next turn Duration: 1 turn

Tail Slash: Slashes the enemy with a quick, successive whips of the tail. Cost: 10 EP Effect: Deals 15-20 HP damageDuration: 1 turn

Talon Strike: Attacks the oppenent with a set of sharp talons, possibly inflicting madness. Cost: 10 EP Effect: Deals 1-5 HP damage with a 20% chance for inflicting madness Duration: 1 turn

Confusion: The effects of the opponents actions are split 50/50 with himself and the person to inflict confusion; lasts for a set number of turns or until cured

Poison: Opponent loses 5% of their HP for a set number of turns or until cured

<center>-----How to Apply to Battle-----</center>

To start you off, every character recieves their own battle card to keep track of their current skills and abilities, health, and awards, etc. Konpaku are issued theirs at Stage 2 (Newblood) and Seers at Stage 1 (Pupil). <img src=http://img58.photobucket.com/albums/v177/Orphne/Konpaku%20Banners/BattleCard.jpg align=left>The battle card comes with two spaces for mugshots. The pictures will be of your character in his/her current stage, only it will be drawn chibi-like in order to fit. As far as skills and abilities go, you recieve them as your character advances through his stages and/or wins battles.

Trophies and awards are added to your character's inventory as they achieve them, while the Battle Aids slot shows the pharmacy items that you have purchased. Not that you can only carry as many aids as is permitted/will fit in your inventory.

The battle card is also where you should check to make sure your character is healthy. Sometimes they may come down with a disease or may suffer the after effects of a battle and will need proper healing. When this happens, their status will change from "Healthy" and a cure will be listed below.

Welcome to the Konpaku Pharmacy! If your character is feeling sick, or you are looking for a few items to help him/her during battle, check below. Note that all profits made from the Pharmacy go directly into the prize pool for future Arena competitions. If you know what you'd like to order, follow these simple steps:

<center>-----Breeding 101-----</center>

Alright now, listen up! The first person your character mates with is his/her "Lover" to which they are forever bound. This is an eternal relationship. (Think of marriage, minus the option for divorce.) Of course, your character may also sleep around or reproduce with those who are not his/her bond-mate.

<center>-----Fees-----</center>

Now, breeding itself has a fee of 10k (to cover the hospital bill. whee ). This means each parent should submit 5k.

Once you're characters have a nice room in the hospital for them to get comfy in, a few different things may happen based on the type of relationship these characters share.




<center>-----Relationships 101-----</center>

<center>-----2 Virginal or 2 Bound Lovers-----</center>

If the two characters have never been bred before (in which case they are "virgins" who then become Lovers) or are already Lovers to each other, then they will produce 3 to 5 children.

Once the children are born, the parents are each allowed to chose one child to keep (as their own, or to give away, sell, auction, etc...) while the others are put up for adoption (in other words, the remaining children belong to the Konpaku shop).

Note that Lovers may breed 3 times.

<center>-----1 Virginal and 1 Unbound Lover-----</center>

In the case that one character has never been bred before and the other already has a Lover (also known has having an "affair" wink , 2 to 4 children are produced.

The parent who has a Lover recieves no children. However, the unbound parent (who will remain unbound until breeding with another unbound character) recieves one child. The others are again put up for adoption.

This type of breeding may occur only infinite times for one character, and never with the same person.

<center>-----2 Unbound Lovers-----</center>

Lastly, if both charcters are being unfaithful to their bond-mates, then they will bear only 1 to 3 children. None of these children will be theirs to keep. This type of breeding may occur only 1 time.

Now that you know about "elation"-ships, you should learn about the different types of bond-mates. Depending on what kind of character you have, the ability to breed with other characters differs. Look for your character type below to discover more.

<center>-----Konpaku-----</center>

Konpaku may breed with anyone, regardless of gender, type, or any other physical characteristics.

For example, once bonded, a male Konpaku may breed with a male Seer. In another instance, a female Konpaku can breed with a male Seer. whee Ah, the perks of being part imaginary. You have no boundaries.

<center>-----Seers (Humans)-----</center>

Seers however, may breed (Terrible word choice, I know.) with any kind of Konpaku, but when it comes to other Seers, they may only breed with those of the opposite sex. Make sense?

For example, a female Seer may breed with a female Konpaku, but not with a female Seer since that is physically impossible. (The two female Seers in question may be bonded.)
