Not only can you duel in here, practicing against other angels, but even if there isn't anyone else here to work with, you can also run through exercises to strengthen certain aspects of your angel. Let me show you what we've got set up so far!

For the next three exercises, there are 10 Red balls floating randomly over the Layer. You can command these balls to attack your Angel in three different ways so far:

Strength

To work on your Angel's strength, you have the 10 hovering balls attack your angel and you work to hit them all.
-Purr will roll 10 6-sided dice to see how successful you were (all 6's will give you 100% success).
-For every 5 STR bars that you have, you get a -1 to Success rate (ie-if you have 5 STR then = 6's for success, 10 STR = 5,6's for success, 15 STR = 4,5,6's for success, etc).
-Hitting 5 out of the 10 Spheres will give you a success!

Defense

For your Angel's Defense, the same 10 hovering balls attack you, but you choose their Strength, and then defend against them.
-Set the ball's strength to 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, etc?.
-Purr will then roll for Defense 10 times, you get 1D10 for every 5 DEF bars that your Angel has (ie 5 DEF = 1D10, 10 DEF = 2D10, etc). So if you have a 7 DEF, then we'd roll 1D10 for each of the 10 balls, add that together and then subtract the DEF score from the total Strength of the attacking spheres.
-The amount that you roll in Defense, is subtracted from the Damage done to your Angel. If you still have Life left after the barrage, then it was a success!

Speed

To work on your Angel's Speed, the 10 balls will attack you again, but this time you must dodge them.
-This works the same as the Strength Practice. To dodge, Purr will roll 1D6 for every ball, and 6's are success.
-For every 5 SPD bars, you get a -1 to rolls (5 SPD = 6's for success, 10 SPD = 5,6's, etc.)
-Dodging 5 out of the 10 balls will give you a success!

When you have successfully completed 10 of any of these tasks, you will raise up that one statistic that you focused on by 1 bar.

The Practice arena will also let you spar against a computer controlled Automaton of your chosing, just like fighting against another Deus and their Angel.
Balanced = STR 8, DEF 8, SPD 8, LIFE 300 ? You will earn 1 STR, 1 DEF, & 1 SPD practice point
Strength = STR 9, DEF 8, SPD 8, LIFE 250 ? You Will earn 3 STR practice points
Defense = STR 8, DEF 9, SPD 8, LIFE 250 ? You will earn 3 DEF practice points
Speed = STR 8, DEF 8, SPD 9, LIFE 250 ? You will earn 3 SPD practice points
(For higher level Angels we'll create an Angel type that has an Average of the higher level Angels Stats, with about 2/3 of it's life, rounded down)

Practice Drills cost 25 gold each to participate.
Fighting an automaton is 100 gold.

Since I'm one of the Angelic Layer Champions, let me explain this part, Icchan.

Dueling is where two Deuses can bring their Angels to fight on the Layer. This is the best place to practice against other Angels, so that you'll be ready for the Tournaments, when they come around.

In all Duels, the Referee is the one running the Duel, and their decision is final. The referee will also be the one doing all the dice rolling so as to make sure that there is fairness in all things and no possibility of cheating (not that we think that any of you would, but we just want to remove any such temptations).

Practice games cost 50 gold per participant

Let me explain how a Duel works.
For our example:
Angel A = STR 9, DEF 9, SPD 7, LIFE 250
Angel B = STR 9, DEF 10, SPD 6, LIFE 250


First, both Deuses must do their "Entry Angel", announcing the name of their Angel, and their Battle Cry. Practice is necessary because you don't want to freeze during a Tournament. I wrote down several to use for myself and Hikaru!
Attacking

-First off you declare your attack (and be as creative as you want, it may do more damage).
-Before you attack, the referee will roll 1D6, and if you get a 6 then you will be doing a critical hit to your opponent, then a 1D4 is rolled for the multiplier of your damage (ie - you roll a 6, and then a 2, so you get a critical hit and do 2x damage).
-To roll for Damage; a 1D10 is rolled for every 5 STR and SPD bars.
(ie- Angel A has STR 9 and SPD 7, so that would be 2D10 for the attack)
You then add your STR and SPD number to the D10 and that is your attack damage
For the above let's say that Angel A rolled 16 for the 2D10, so that would be 16+9 STR+7 SPD x2 (for your critical hit) would be 64 Damage.

Dodging or Defending

When attacked, the opponent must declare whether he is Dodging or Defending against the Attack, you can't do both.
Dodging

-When Dodging, a 1D6 is rolled for every 5 SPD bars you have.
(ie- Angel B has SPD 10 so that's 2D6)
-If you get at least one 6 on any of your dice, then you Dodge the full attack and take no damage.
-If you don't Dodge the attack, then you subtract your natural DEF and take the rest against your LIFE.
From our previous example Angel B tries to dodge but fails so she subtracts her Angel's DEF 10 from the Damage, and takes 54 from her LIFE, putting her at 196 LIFE
Defending

-For Defense, a 1D10 is rolled for every 5 DEF and SPD bars
(ie- Angel B has DEF 10, SPD 6 so that's 3D10)
You then add your DEF and SPD number to the D10 and that's how much you Defend against their attack.
-If the Defending number is equal to or greater than the Attacking number then no damage is taken. If not, then subtract your natural DEF and take the rest against your LIFE.
Following our example let's say Angel B rolls 20 for her 3D10, so that's 20+10 DEF+6 SPD for a Defense of 36 which is not greater than or equal to the Attack of 64, so Angel B subtracts natural DEF 10 from the Damage, and takes 54 from her LIFE, putting her at 196 LIFE

Special Moves

Everyone has Special moves, though whether they wish to post their Certificate showing those moves is up to them, though it is required that the moves be shown during a Duel.
You can always use a Special Move at least once. Every Move also has a number that must be rolled for the Deus to use the move more than once.
It should say something like 4+ rpt, which means that you have to roll a 4, 5, or 6 to repeat this move later on. If you fail to repeat your Special Move, then you just use a regular attack.

Grabs / Holds
((Thanks to David Wolfenbrother to bring the need for this to our attention!!))


-The Attacking Angel can Grab/Hold their opponent if their attack is not Dodged and they are close enough. Grab/Hold does 1/2 Damage, but opponent is now held/grabbed. Each turn, can continue to do 1/2 Damage.
-Defender has no Dodge and no Defense besides Natural Defense. Can also attack at 1/2 Damage.
>>>>>-Break: To Break the Grab/Hold, both parties roll 1D10 for every 5 STR Bars + STR and if Defender is greater, then breaks the hold, if Attacker is greater, then continues to hold on.<center>OR</center>>>>>>-If Defender can attack and do at least 15 Damage at 1/2 attack damage, through Holders Natural Defense, then they can break free. Holder can try to Dodge attack while still holding on, depending on where he is being attacked (based on how Role Played)

Ring Out

Since we're not on an actual 3-D Layer, we have to make do. So there are a couple of ways to knock an Angel off of the Layer.
-If an Angel does 100+ net Damage with one Attack that turn, then the opposing Angel is automatically knocked off the Layer and loses.
-After 5 turns, if an Angel does 50+ Damage with one Attack, then Referee rolls 1D6, and if a 1 is rolled, then the opposing Angel is knocked off.

Winning

Most battles will be comprised of 10 rounds, but if there are other special circumstances, they will be explained before the battles ever begin.
To Win, you must either:
-Knock your opponent out, reducing their life to 0 or below
-Knock them off of the Angelic Layer
-Or have the most LIFE left when the 10th round ends

Make sure to keep this lots of fun so that others will be willing to come back and fight you again. Angelic Layer was created for the Deuses to have fun, but also for them to meet, to interact with new people, and to bring them closer. Don't be a bad sport, whining, name calling, complaining, threatening, or any other un-sportsman-like things! If you do, I'll have to ask Tamayo-chan to show you HER special moves!

Angel Points can be earned in many different ways. Save them up for specials that will be running in the Piffle Princess as random times, to buy cool upgrades and maybe even a Custom Angel.

-Random There are the random points that can pop up anywhere, upon Purrasha's whim, so be on the lookout!

-Practice Arena Fight against a friend or anyone who has an Angel. You get 1 point for entering and another 4 points if you win (5 in total). Games will be 50 gold to play.

-Tournaments Each Tournament costs 250 gold to enter. Each Deus earns 5 points just for participating in the tournament. They can earn 10 points for each victory in the tournament and the overall winner of the tournament gets and extra 25 points plus a prize. The top 4 winners will get to go on to the Championship.

-Championship It costs 500 gold to enter the Championship, and each Deus earns 10 points just for participating. They can then earn 25 points for each victory, and 50 points plus a prize for the Champion.
That Champion then gets to fight against Wizard and Athena, earning another 50 points for each battle won and the chance to be the overall reigning Champion!
