THE WORLD OF ALUDRA

Aludra is comprised of a set of large, unconnected continents separated by the Sea of Adhara, which opens on both sides into the vast ocean.

The northern continent, Muliphen, possesses a pleasant, temperate climate but rather unfriendly geography. Much of the northern portion of the land (not pictured) is covered in snowcapped mountains, making travel impossible. These taper into gently rolling hills, which are covered in either dense forests or meadows of tall grass.

The arid continent to the south is Furud. The continent shares its name with the great desert that covers 90% of the total continental area. That which isn't dry sandy desert is rich fertile soil - popular places for farming communities. As you move further south, the heat becomes even more unbearable. Most don't venture far from water sources.

In the center of the Sea of Adhara rests the island of Murzim, where our story takes place...

THE ISLAND OF MURZIM

Murzim is home to one of the greatest trade cities in the known world, Aschere. This great harbor city is home to the finest guild of adventurers and hunters in Aludra - the Asterion League.

The island is covered mostly by deciduous tropical forests. What isn't jungle-like is mostly beach. Two great trade roads connect Aschere to the two small towns on the island - Sothis and Alshira.

Our shop focuses on the adventurer's guild of Aschere. It is based at Asterion, the collection of buildings that comprise the headquarters of the guild of the same name.

A hundred years ago, a woman named Meissa found the need for a dedicated defense against the growing number of aggressive creatures on Murzim Island. With her family's fortune and renowned reputation as hunters, she gathered other like-minded people to form the Asterion League. The guild protected Aschere from the monsters that would threaten the city borders and surrounding farms, and accepted additional hunt requests for a negotiable price.

Under Meissa's leadership, the League's operations eventually expanded to much of Aludra. Its adventurers cleared travel and trade routes, and put to rest the occasional chaotic activity in the wild. Except in extreme cases, the guild refused to hunt other sentient beings, making it clear that they had no intention of supplanting the current law and order. And for the most part, the services of Asterion League were welcomed, even becoming popular.

With a burgeoning member roster, divisions were later created to help organize the formation of hunting parties: four in total, for close-range or long-range fighters, and white or black mages. When Meissa at last retired about fifty years ago, the division leaders inherited the guild, and the same command structure has stayed intact through the decades.

Tales of Aludra picks up the story in the Asterion League's centennial year. Old members are all set to celebrate a successful century as Aludra's first line of defense against the world's dangerous beasts, while novice adventurers come in droves to the League, drawn by its renowned reputation. What these people seek from the guild (be it fame, fortune, excitement or something else entirely), and what they will find in the future could be up to you...

HUMANS are just like you and me in Aludra. They are intelligent, adaptive, and the most diverse race, as well as the most common. As the primary movers and shakers of world politics, most seats of power are held by humans. Along with learning very quickly and advancing through their classes at a fast rate, humans seem to be the "base" race, and as a result can reproduce with most of the other races.

PENNIER are distinguished by their expansive wings and tail-feathers of wildly varying colours, while their hollow bones render them flight-capable but frail in build. The universal denomination of the Pennier is Aileism, a philanthropic monotheistic religion with a strict moral code and preoccupation with cleanliness. Beyond prayer, they also have a reputation for excellence in medicine and the arts and sciences.

EJDERHA are said to be descended from the dragons of legend, living up to this tale with their ruthless military culture. It's easy to pick out an Ejderha's draconic horns and wings in a crowd – a good thing, as you never want to get in their way. Despite their outward strength, the Ejderha as a race suffer from sickness and early infertility. They're best known as soldiers, traders, and possibly enemies in the recent war with humans.

DUSZEK, also known as the Ancient Ones, are long-lived beings who make their home in the deserts of Furud. They are tall, thin and androgynous, with sharp features and long, lagomorphic ears. What sets them apart from the other humanoid races is their extremely pale blue-white skin and heightened senses. The Duszek live in a reclusive collectivist culture and are regarded by outsiders to be odd and inbred.

LAMIA appear mostly human from the waist-up, aside from their fangs and slightly pointed ears, however their bottom halves have been replaced with a large serpentine body. The semi-nomadic Lamia are the gypsies of Aludra – they are notorious as thieves and cheats, but also very clever and money smart. Somewhat poisonous (literally), Lamia build very tightly knit communities into which many do not dare try intruding.

MUSCHERONS, more commonly known as Mushkins, are natural-born troublemakers. The second-most populous race of Aludra are characterized by their small statures and large mushroom caps seated atop their heads. They can be found all over Aludra, though they shy away from civilization and Lamia territory – their natural enemies! Though the shortest-lived of all the races, it's said all a Muscheron has to do is sneeze and someone gets pregnant.

(Extended information about each of the races can be found in the Guild.)

NOTE: There is no hard and fast rule about division placement. Many adventurers tend to be flexible in their fighting style, and thus might fall into the jurisdiction of more than one leader. And with that said, the leaders themselves are not like military leaders — they don't direct every action of the guild members, but more so oversee their activities within the guild.

01. In the first stage, a character has just arrived at the Asterion League, and in many cases, realized that they were just a big fish in a small pond in their former life. The first stage with the Asterion League is spent familiarizing oneself with one's surroundings, meeting and making friends, as well as training and testing one's skills in battle. The four guild leaders will be there to help make this a smooth transition.

Once a month, a notice will be posted asking hunters to take care of a troublesome mark plaguing a village somewhere, and your rookie character will get the chance to really prove their mettle. Monthly hunts will take place in our Events Forum.

02. After your character has a couple major hunts (or minor local disturbances) under their belt, they are ready to move along to the second stage. At the second stage, their job class becomes an intermediate one and their appearance likely changes. They have also become more proficient in battle and their stats are beginning to show that they're more than just a mighty dustbunny slayer. As they continue with the guild, they can help out newer recruits, participate in monthly hunts, and generally explore the island of Murzim and surrounding world.

03. The road to the third stage is much longer than the one to the second stage, but those who achieve this stage can be proud of themselves for making it so far. Having spent a great deal of time adventuring with the League, your character has become a master of their chosen discipline, and their stats reflect this as well. But it's hardly time to do lay out in a hammock while the others take care of things!

Upon reaching the third stage, characters are finally eligible to purchase mounts from the store. Been thinking all this time that your character would look awesome riding around on a giant ram? Head on over to Silverfeed's in the Shoppe Forum of our guild and pick one up for yourself! Just beware, they don't come cheap!

01. Be respectful of all staff and posters.
02. Don't steal the art, graphics, characters, etc.
03. Begging for a character will not help you get one.
04. Players can have as many characters as they can get approved and accepted. As mods, we will monitor general activity and disallow additional characters if a player is not holding up their end of the bargain.
05. Guild membership is open to all, however unaccepted players should only be active in the Concepts Forum.
06. Don't powerplay, use OOC information IC, etc.
07. Roleplay can occur in the guild, through PMs, IMs, etc. However, if one of the latter, be sure to post it in your journal so that we can follow your character's activity and reward it as such.
08. We encourage players to communicate with their RP partners, but please mark OOC comments using brackets.
09. Additional guidelines can be found in the Guild.

Please direct all game related PMs to Tales of Aludra. Character-specific PMs should be directed to their player.

01. Tales of Aludra is a roleplay intensive game. Stage advancement is based on an activity system that uses gems as proof of activity. For more information about gems, see here.
02. The flatsale rate is 30k. By setting a higher flatsale rate, we hope to avoid a situation where flatsales are a rarity and the only means of obtaining a character is spending excessive amounts of gold. Payment plans are also available if necessary.
03. There are no 'customs' as all characters are 100% custom creations of their players.
04. All characters begin in the first stage with no gems or assets (items able to be purchased from our IC stores) to their name. The only exception to this is in the event of a special auction.
05. The game utilizes a battle system to handle IC fighting. More information can be found here.

(Many other questions are answered in our FAQ!)
User Image

01. The very first step necessary towards obtaining a character is to read all the information available and familiarize yourself with the setting. This shouldn't be too difficult! (Most game information is actually contained within the Guild!)

02. Once you feel comfortable with the setting and have an idea for a character, make your way over to the Concepts Forum and write up a character proposal. For specific guidelines and hints about this, see the stickies in that forum. Once a concept is deemed playable, a staff member will officially approve the concept. Having an approved concept makes your character eligible for acceptance into the game, but you're still not there quite yet.

03. As with many other B/C shops, acceptance is achieved via writing prompt-based flatsales, auctions, etc. There will be no time-based flatsales, as we do not feel they are a helpful means of judging acceptance for our game. Events will generally run for a week in order to give all interested a chance to participate. We will try to hold joining events regularly, but these are subject to our character artist's availability.

04. You can submit as many concepts as you want for approval, but only one can be accepted into a game during a flatsale. You'll have to specify which one you want, if you have multiple approved concepts. The other approved concepts will have to wait for the next flatsale.
