The Story:
Once long ago, when the world was still young and new, there existed a race of holy beings who gave their blessings to the land and controlled a vast amount of power. They provided their gentle guidance and diplomacy to the masses for thousands of years, and were worshipped by their many followers for as long as their presence remained evident. These blessed creatures were the Angels, who existed in large numbers and were grouped to offer assistance to all people of the world.
The Angels were governed by the Seraphs, who had ultimate power and were considered to be the strongest deities of all Angels. There also existed four divisions of lower Angels who all had different tasks: The Kiorna were the messengers; The Cevorian were the deathbringers; The Raeyti were the intellectuals; The Zephirae were the guardians. Each division of Angels assisted (or hindered) the world in certain ways, and each was connected to the mortal people through the work that was performed by them.
The Zephirae Angels were the most popular of the divisions, mainly because they were the ones who interacted with the mortals the most. Each mortal being was assigned to a Zephirae from birth, and the Angel that was linked to them would serve as the person's guardian until death. They would offer guidance, good advice and mental support to their assigned person, and the two would often create strong bonds of friendship (and, at times, love) - A Zephirae could never leave the one that they were linked to, or they would face certain death and expulsion from the Angels as a whole.
However, all good things must come to an end, and eventually the lore of the Angels died out and became nothing more than myth. The people of the world flourished, even with the absence of the Angels, and has come to be what it is today. Although the Angels were not honored as they were before, they existed for all of those years as semi-dormant creatures, never departing from their holy realm, but still commanding the people in nondistinct ways. The Zephirae were not of use for this entire time, since they could only have an influence on the world by being physically present with the mortals; The Kiorna, Cevorian and Raeyti Angels could do their work without being seen, and were able to do so despite the lack of worship. The Zephirae could only lie in waiting, anticipating the time when they would be called upon once again.
Over time, the Seraphs began to notice the world of Gaia, which was heavily populated with many unique people and had no strict laws of religion or myth. The Seraphs, who were desperate to repopulate the Zephirae with the common people, began to try and reawaken them. However, they were not in luck, for most of the Zephirae had wasted away over time and were incapable of returning to the mortals at their current state; after all, they had been completely dormant while the other Angels could still flouish in some ways. The Seraphs, realizing how important the Zephirae were, began to recreate these fallen Angels - they were reborn as tiny infants, and the Seraphs began to entrust certain Gaians with these Angel children.. in hopes that they would be willing to raise the reborn Zephirae and prepare them for their futures as guardian Angels. The Zephirae will grow quickly and their powers will show at an early age; each Zephirae will have their own unique abilities and personalities. At one point, they will be old enough to return to their realm to live out their duties.. but for the time being, it is up to those chosen Gaians to ensure that the Angels live a good life before they are recalled and given their own tasks as full-fleged Zephirae.
Even when the Zephirae will be required to return to their own realm, they will not easily forget their lives with their Gaian caretakers - and there is a chance that some of the Zephirae will be qualified for the position of Seraph among all Angels. Only time will tell the fate and future of these young Zephirae and their adventures in the world of Gaia...
