Thanks for stopping by! This is an interest (and hiring xD) thread for an upcoming shop for the Breedables/Changing Pets Forum.
The shop will feature creatures known as Keilun.

News
08/19/07 - A colored, shaded version of the female baby is now on page 18. :3 Also, I have hired merangue to make a cert for the shop.
08/11/07 - Guest Colorist Application submissions are now closed. Also, the inked baby female lineart is up on page 15. <3
08/04/07 - Set up the shop mule under the guise of 'Fortunes of China.' So original, I know! xD; See below to add her to your friends - a mailing list will be set up eventually to alert everyone to updates!
07/30/07 - Finally got my tablet! And got around to retouching the shading on the baby male, so that's all set now. x3
07/26/07 - After much mucking about, finally got the Interest Thread set up. 8D
07/24/07 - Discovered that I can, in fact, shade alright. O.o (A.k.a. decided not to hire a templatest.)
07/20/07 - Received the first inked lineart from Han, and began coloring just for fun.
07/14/07 - Commissioned hanyousblood for lines. <3
07/07/07 - Got the inspiration for the shop, and began bugging friends (*cough*seecreditspost*cough*) about who I should commission for lineart and such. 8D And look! Triple 7's! Must be lucky! xD

General Info

Keilun is pronounced 'kay-loon.'

Some of you may already know what a Keilun is - the Japanese name for these creatures is 'Kirin.'

Keilun are, in the simplest terms, Chinese unicorns. Although many variations and names exist throughout the continent of Asia, the creatures are generally four-legged animals that have certain characteristics resembling Eastern dragons, deer, oxen, and lions. For more information, you can take a look at this Wikipedia article.
(Yes, I know that Wikipedia isn't the most reliable source. But the sculptures in the pictures provided in that particular article are spectacular IRL - I saw both when I was in China this past June.)

I am using the Cantonese dialect for pronunciation in this shop, as it is the dialect of Chinese that I speak.

Main Shop Concept

Keilun are said to bring peace, prosperity, and good luck. Thus, the main idea for this shop will be Good Fortune.

Each keilun will have a Fortune assigned to them, some chosen by owners and others predetermined in flatsales, etc. The Fortune can, but does not necessarily need to, reflect the coloring scheme. Fortunes can be as general as "Strength," or as simple as "A Sunny Day."

Misfortune Keilun will not be available for awhile, but I am already toying around with the idea of 'bad luck' creatures, so to speak.

Keilun Stages

Lai Si - Image Coming Soon
Lai Si (pronounced 'lie-see') are literally Red Envelopes containing money, and are given as gifts during celebrations such as Chinese New Year, or during weddings. Lai Si are meant to bring good fortune and prosperity (getting money is always helpful, after all!), and the color red symbolizes good luck. Thus, as the Keilun are said to bring good fortune, instead of money, one will receive a Good Fortune Keilun!

Hiring Post

I'm hiring for a few positions at the moment. :3 I will discuss payment with each applicant in private.

Cert Maker
I need a cert. Simple as that. xD
Some guidelines, however: No forests/trees or scrolls/parchment/paperish-type certs unless they're really unique.
Personally, I see both of those types a lot, and they're getting a bit dull. xP
Also, keep in mind that as the theme of the shop is based on a piece of mythology out of China, I would like a cultural aspect in the cert.
Cert file must be Photoshop-compatible.

Graphics Artist
I'm looking for someone to make banners and such for the shop. The graphics artist must be willing to complete banners not only for the main shop thread, but also for other shop-related graphics, graphics for special events, etc, as well. (But I will let you know in advance should we ever need more. :3)
I will accept and pay for a basic banner that I can add text to myself.
Files that are Photoshop-compatible are preferred.

Want to color a keilun yourself? Well, I'm not hiring any permanent colorists at the moment, but I would love to have a few guest artists!
Guest artists will, if they choose to, participate in upcoming events, but must be willing to be flexible about when such an event would be held - I don't particularly have any idea, yet.
Guest artists will keep 90% of all sales, and be allowed to color a custom keilun for him/herself. :3
Please color the male child stage and post it with the following form, along with other coloring examples.

Do not resize the lineart. Also, shading is not necessary. You may color up to three examples, but no lineart editting, please.
New Rule: Do not take the example on page 7 and mess around with the colors and post it as your own work. Saying that you wanted to 'work with the template' will not fly with me. I'm looking for colorists who can show me good skill WITHOUT the shading. Okay? Okay. Thanks.
