In June there will be a Summer Event which will be focused on floral-editted Tokoro, breeding raffles, preggo auctions, a Family FS, and some winged and maned lovelies. In late July there will be a short Twilight event that will span into the first week of August! And in late August we will be introducing a new breed of Tokoro...

[Thursday; March 13th, 2008] PLEASE get your baby information to Raze! NOT the certing thread! Some pets will NOT be certed until they grow into teens by tomorrow. No ifs, ands, or buts. There were several notes to get the information to Raze via PM from the owners of the couples who had children. NOT individual PMs, but a list of the kids, who owned them, and their names.
Babies will not grow until next week at least, including flatsale babies done by Raze.

- Suitable exotic names should be selected for all new Tokoro. Staff members reserve to right to ask any new owner to rename their pet if the name is not appropriate. (Examples of inappropriate names: Killer, Cutie-pie, Stinky, etc.) If you're having trouble thinking of a name for your new pet, try these helpful links: English to Indonesian translator, Baby Names World (try searching under different origins).
ROLEPLAYING RULES //
- Use proper grammar and tense when RPing.
- You may not RP any of your other pets in this thread or guild, it just wouldn't may any sense.
- If you wish to RP yourself, you must take on a Nayulu tribe person's persona. Remember, Tokoro are very shy and secretive creatures that don't particularly trust or like humans.
- Try not to leave anyone out, give a chance to everyone to roleplay.
- Please use (( and )) when speaking OOC if there's any RP taking place in the shop thread.
- No god-moding, please. And do not RP someone else's Tokoro unless you have their permission.
- Make sure to read the details and information found in the TOKORO SPECIES INFO section. It's very important to understand these creatures and their RP environment.

Deep within the rainforest of Taraja Island
Lies a long kept secret from the modern world. Thought to be extinct long ago, a rare and mysterious species thrives in its last natural habitat. Protected by their remote location and natural secretive behavior, these creatures are among the most extraordinary and exotic animals on earth.
Taraja's native tribe, the Nayulu, simply refer to them as Tokoro (ghosts). Only visible on the darkest of nights, eerie glowing eyes peer down on their campfires from distant treetops. For generations the Nayulu natives believed they were the souls of departed tribe members. Tribes from neighbouring islands believe Taraja Island to be haunted and cursed, never staying longer than a few hours to trade goods with the Nayulu villagers. Many tales of the Tokoro have been told for generations around common campfires by old crones to small Nayulu children.

Q: How do I get a Tokoro?
A: There are currently five ways to get a Tokoro; flatsales, raffles, auctions, contests/events and breedings. Check the AVAILABILITY and BREEDING sections for more information.
Q: Will you give me a Tokoro for free?
A: No, sorry. However, check to see if there are any contests/events being held where you can win a Tokoro for free. Raffles are also a good way to acquire a pet for less than the sale price. See the AVAILABILITY section.
Q: Can my friend and I co-own a Tokoro?
A: Yes. Although, if your names are too long I may have to either abbreviate them or use initials on the cert.
Q: How long does it take for my Tokoro to grow?
A: It varies depending on the colourist. Some will take a few weeks, others -- a month or two. Just be patient on your Tokoro's growings and refer to the Growth threads for a projection of when yours will be growing.
Q: Can I somehow alter their growth speed?
A: Yes! You can dramatically enhance or slow down their growth with special fruit for sale in the ITEM section of the shop. Check there for details and availability.
Q: When is my Tokoro able to breed?
A: Your pet and its mate must be in their adult stage of life. Check the BREEDING post for more details.
Q: Can I sell my Tokoro to my friend, someone I know, etc.?
A: No!
Q: I'm planning on leaving Gaia for good, what should I do with my Tokoro?
A: If you are planning on leaving Gaia, I will happily take your Tokoro until I can find another suitable owner. You may, however, give your Tokoro to a friend (for free) with permission from a staff member.
Q: Is there a limit to how many Tokoro I may own?
A: No, you may own as many as you like. Although, there is a limit of one per person during flatsales.
Q: Do I have to RP my Tokoro?
A: No, it's not manditory but it is encouraged.
Q: Are you looking for any colourists/managers, ect?
A: When we feel the need to, we'll be hiring. Until then, no.

Here you can find specific information about the Tokoro species. Listed are their location, habitat, physical traits, social groups, etc. All this information should be taken into consideration when roleplaying your pet.

Habitations: The Nayulu are seperated into 3 villages along the northern coast of Taraja, the largest being the port/village of Burua

GEOGRAPHY //
Island Size: Approx. 540 km long and 360 km wide
Highest point: Mt. Banjara, 3,019 m (9,905 ft)
Taraja is traversed by a eastern mountain range, the highest point of which is called Mt. Banjara. The Minggu River flows from the base of Mt. Banjara all the way to the western coast where it flows out into the Indian Ocean. Taraja also boasts flat grasslands on its western side where many unqiue species such as the lowland Anoa (pigmy buffalo), and Dhole (asian wild dog) are found. The vast and mystical rainforest of Taraja Island is home to some of the most rare creatures on earth, including the Dingiso (tree kangaroo), Komodo Dragon, Flying Squirrel, Silvery Gibbon, Sumatran Tiger, and of course the most rare and fleeting of all, the Tokoro.

TOKORO FACTS //
Average full grown Tokoro: Height = 2' 6" / Weight = 35 lbs.
Physical Traits:
Tokoro have great hand coordination for foraging and other activities. Their soles and palms are covered with soft skin that enables them to grip onto various objects when climbing or traveling through trees. Tokoro also have long furry prehensile tails, like some primates, which are adapted for seizing, grasping, holding, or hanging from branches. They also use their tails for balance when leaping through the forest canopy. Their long spring-like legs allow them to jump over 30 feet (9 m) from tree to tree.
Tree Life:
Tokoro are mainly arboreal (spend most of their time in trees), but sometimes travel along the ground when foraging or playing. They are one of the fastest arboreal creatures on earth and can cover an area as large as 3½ miles during the course of a day's foraging. Tokoro usually stay within a common home range, aggressively defending it from other packs.
Social Groups:
Tokoro are very territorial and social animals. Their social groups or packs normally consist of 2 to 24 individuals, which are tightly knit and dependant on eachother. There may be male or female dominant hierarchies within the pack depending on the individual group. When territorial fights between packs occur, both males and females are on the front lines. They threaten the Tokoro in the opposing pack by leaping and darting toward them but rarely does an actual fight break out. Almost always, the larger pack will win dominance and the rights to that territory.
Communication:
The Tokoro species communicate vocally and through scent markings. They have scent glands on their hands and feet that leave odors on surfaces they cross.
Diet:
Tokoro are generally omnivores, eating a variety of fruit, seeds, flowers, nectar, leaves, as well as insects.
Predators:
Predators of the Tokoro include snakes, other large reptiles (komodo dragons), large mammals (wild dogs, tigers, etc.), and humans.

Baby/Infant Stage: When first born, baby Tokoro cubs are entirely dependent on their parents for safety, shelter, and food. Unable to keep up with the pack on their own, the cubs clutch tightly to their mother's back while travelling throughout the day (as seen below). Their tails are too short to use for grasping objects or hanging, but help to keep them warm when curled up to sleep on cool jungle nights. Tokoro cubs are born all throughout the year, usually in pairs.
Child/Adolescent Stage: As the Tokoro cubs grow, they are finally able to follow the pack and forage on their own. Still staying close to their parents, they constantly practice their climbing and jumping techniques. With seemingly endless energy and a knack for mischief, these youngsters spend most of their time playing and chasing eachother through the jungle canopy.
Adult Stage: Once in their adult stage, the Tokoro are able to jump and climb like no other. They finally have full use of their prehensile tail. Pack life becomes much more important when fully grown, as well as finding a mate and breeding. Every adult member of a pack is responsible for looking over the younger members as well as defending the pack's territory.

Biasa - The average, groundling Tokoro.
They live on the main island, and live in 4 main tribes. They are the most settled and common of all kinds of Tokoro.
Kepak - Uncommon feathered Tokoro
that are not native to the main lands. They only have traveled here recently, and have extremely large wings which enable flight.
Rambut - A subspecies of the Biasa,
these are the cousins of the normal tokoro. They are found high in the treetops, and forage for fruits and such in the canopy. Their striking feature is their long mane-like hair.

- There is a limit of only one Tokoro per person per flatsale.
- If you proxy for a friend you're not allowed to buy one for yourself.
- Always clearly indicate in your post which Tokoro you would like.
- Absolutely NO editing of posts during a flatsale.
- 10 minutes before the flatsale begins we will post the rules and any information you may need to participate.
- 5 minutes before it begins we will post a "SILENCE!" post warning everyone to please be quiet (no posting) and to prepare themselves.
- The flatsale price for a Tokoro is 6,000 gold. All payments should be sent to the colorist that colored your kit.

Breeding will be a sporadic type event, where it will only happen every now and then. When slots open, its first come, first serve. Sometimes it will be speed based, other times it will be raffled off.
BREEDING RULES & INFO //
- Only a malexfemale pair will produce offspring.
- If you want a roguebreeding, then a male is not required, but the female must be adult.
- Tokoro can have up to 4 babies at a time; if you rogue breed, then the amount is reduced to a max of two Tokoro.
- Tokoro may only breed when they're in their adult stage.
- Tokoro may only breed when they have been an adult for one full month.
- The Tokoro in a breeding pair must be owned by 2 different owners. (This is different in each raffle)
- Mating couples may only breed once every 2 months.
- Yes, Tokoro from different packs may breed. However, the mating couple must decide on which pack their family will be a part of and ALL move to that pack once the cubs are born.
