You walk down the street of Barton returning from a busy day of shopping. The air is warm, and very humid; almost a silvery color, it's so saturated with water. Unfortunately, the constant drizzle shows warnings of becoming rain. Hoping for a shortcut, you turn down a barren dirt road, quickening your pace. After a moment you feel the strangest sensation, as though you were being watched. It's just like they always describe it in books: your stomach clenches uneasily and the hair on the back of your neck begins to stand up..

You turn to look over your shoulder, hearing a soft rumble, much like approaching thunder. A lithe lavender striped cat-creature stands a few feet away; motionless, except for a rhythmic flicking of his tufted tail... His well toned muscles seem to ripple under the sheen of his fur with the slightest movement, and his glowing golden eyes lock in on your gaze, looking straight into yours. He tosses the long silky mane that branches down his back and it fluffs up with a mind of its own, as if filling with static electricity. You can almost hear the magic about this creature, humming through him with the beat of his swishing tail. You notice a tiny flash of light from the tail and realize it comes from a polished metal ring.

After a moment the lion-like beast is still regarding you in silence. You decide to chance a step closer. He lets you. You try another. The lion doesn't move. One more, this one faster. Now the beast seems agitated. He gives a halfhearted mix between a roar and a growl, a sound like a clap of thunder, and turns to leave, padding off quickly. You step back in disappointment, watching him go, but he turns before he departs and gives you one last glance with those haunting eyes. Then, in a rolling cloud of mist, he seems to simply vanish. You hesitate a full minute, then grudgingly continue on your way.

A quarter mile further down the road, the sky opens up. A torrential rain begins to pour down. You begin to run, trying to get out of the wave of water falling from the sky. After a few yards it's apparent that a building's up ahead. You run for shelter as the rain is seeming to increase in intensity, if that's possible. You've finally made it to the building. Forget about knocking; running up the few steps, you fling open the door and dash inside.

Welcome, Says a girl from behind a counter with a hint of a friendly smirk. She reaches under the countertop and pulls out a towel, tossing it to you as if this were a common situation. Here ya go. Dry off. Make yourself at home. It should let up in a few minutes. She notices you glancing around at the various pictures on the wall and stopping on one in particular. You can't believe it. It looks exactly like that cat-beast you saw. The girl notes your wide eyes and speaks up. Well, while you're waiting; This is the Sky Lion Center. Never heard of a SkyLions? Don't worry, I do this for everyone. The species was discovered very recently and it's not very popular yet. So let me enlighten you!

SkyLions are magical lion-like creatures(thus the name) that are said to have unusual effects on the weather. They have heavily tufted tails and long half manes made of a fine silk-like material. These are constantly rippling with magic as if in a light breeze. The rippling becomes more intense with the coming of a storm, blizzard, or other violent weather phenomena. SkyLions come from a tiny faraway island called Callway. The SkyLions of Callway are much stronger than the ones we have here however. That is because the ancestors of the SkyLions we have available here were taken forcibly from Callway and bred with a species of domesticated lion to try to tame them as pets. The SkyLions, having tremendous independence and fiery spirits made very poor pets indeed. When bred with domesticated lions, the litter would be less magical and less intelligent than their SkyLion parent, but just as fierce towards humans. Here we've decided to take things step backwards. All SkyLions born here are equipped with a magical tail ring. This brings their magic back to around the level of the SkyLions remaining in Callway. It strengthens their intelligence back to norm as well. However we could never release these creatures back into the wild. If the ring was to be knocked off in a fight they would have an instant handicap and fall backwards to the dumber instincts they were born with not to mention loose their powers. That's why it''s important to give them to guardians who will check up on them every now and then and make sure they and the tailring are in top shape. I'd like the guardians to be as unobtrusive as they can otherwise, and for the most part let the SkyLions interact with eachother. I've secured a wildlife preserve where they can interact with eachother. The information we'll learn from observing these creatures will be priceless. Especially the information related to their weather controlling abilities.

The girl notes your dubious look. Yes, I'm afraid this rainstorm was started by our mascot Amadeus. She shakes her head He's pretty smart. That's one of the ways he brings people to us. She tilts her head, scrutinizing you thoughtfully. Interesting though..he must have seen something in you. You wouldn't be interested in taking a look at our available kittens, would you? She smiles grandly, as though in her mind there's no doubt you'll be interested..

When a SkyLion is first born, it's put in a basket. Newborn SkyLions are nothing magnificent, though they do grow on you. All newborns are the size of a normal kitten. They're grayish in color and are devoid of most of the species magic. Their eyes and ears are still developing so they can't see or hear and they mewl whenever they aren't sleeping or being fed from a bottle. We give newborns away in their own soft baskets. They make for wonderful beds. The newborn crawls out of the basket after a day or so. The bows? Well, it's rumored that since they're the first colorful thing a SkyLion sees, the kitten is likely to subconsciously mimic their color scheme when it gains it?s magic. When your SkyLion is a newborn you will purchase a tailring for it.
<b>YOU MUST BUY A TAILRING!</b>
The magic it contains is essential for healthy development. SkyLions without tail rings remain a sickly gray and grow slower. Not to mention they have no magic and little intelligence. Please don't let your SkyLion get like this. Choose any tailring you like but just choose one.

Here's a cutie! A SkyLion cub. This is a SkyLion's second stage and it will remain like this for about three weeks. They have developed a color scheme by this time. This is helpful for distinguishing between other lions. Cubs are rambunctious and playful, curious and impish. They stand about a foot tall at the shoulder.

A young SkyLion. You can see the tail has begun to fluff out and a mane is starting to grow. By this time they are aware of their weather magic but rarely use it, and when they do it is weak and unpredictable. Teen SkyLions are particularly moody, like any teen. Teenage SkyLions are about two feet tall at the shoulder.

A mature SkyLion adult. Depending on the caliber of their tailring they have mastered a small to large variety of magic. Their tails are now very full and their mane is long and fully grown. At this stage they stand about three and a half to four feet at the shoulder, the males tending to be larger than the females.

They're ready to be released into the game reserve for roleplay and the fact that they've already have tail rings SAVES YOU MONEY! 8D Each cub will be bought in a flatsale. After the calliber of your RP example posts has been judged, if you are a winner you will be asked to send a trade of 5000G to me for your cub. That is all! You don't have to pay for the tail ring! ^_^

<b>Tail Ring Store</b>
Depending on how you want your SkyLion to develop, you will buy a magical tail ring of a certain metal to equip it with. All the metal rings we have here have been charmed to a certain degree that dictates their price. Obviously, the more magical a ring is, the more powerful your SkyLion will grow to be.

<b>Wooden Tail Ring</b> (free)
Wooden tailrings are given to young SkyLions whose guardians are not wealthy enough to buy a ring. This is not recoomanded, however. Wooden tailrings posess no magic and your SkyLion will stay a sickly grayish color and grow very slow.

<b>Copper Tail Ring</b> (500g)
The cheapest magical tailring you can buy. Copper tailrings can hold a small amount of magic, enough to keep your SkyLion nice and healthy. They will not have extended powers though, and their coats are usually pretty monotone, their manes being only slightly different colors than their coats.

<b>Sterling Silver Tail Ring</b> (1000g)
Sterling silver tail rings ensure that your SkyLion will be a lovely two toner, with a coat of one color and a mane and tail of another. This silver alloy holds more magic than copper, promising your SkyLion a little more power.

<b>24 Karat Gold Tail Ring</b> (2000g)
A shiny gold tail ring possesing average magical powers. Taking one of these is a gamble. Your SkyLion will have a coat of one color, and a mane and tail of another. Your SkyLion will <i>also</i> have a small ammount of Stripes, spots, or patches of yet another color. Our wunderkind mascot Amadeus is equipped with this type of tailring.

<b>Pure Silver Tail Ring</b> (2500g)
With a pure silver tail ring your SkyLion will two toned as far as mane and base coat color. They will also have a nice ammount of tiger stripes of another color. These rings are just above average in magic.

<b>Silver and Gold Tail Ring</b> (2600g)
A mix of enchanted silver and gold. Your SkyLion will be made of three main colors: one for the mane, one for the coat base, and one for the pinto-like patches that appear with this type of ring. These rings hold an above average amount of magic.

<b>Pure Gold</b> (6000g)
A ring of pure gold holds a large amount of magic. SkyLions equipped with these types of rings grow to be very powerful. They also aquire a fetching pattern of cheetah or leopard spots. SkyLions with Gold Tail Rings are known to make great leaders.

<b>Platinum</b> (10000g)
One of the prettiest types of SkyLion available is one with a platinum tail ring. These creatures have different masks of color on their face and multicolored manes. Their legs and tails are almost always a different color than the rest of their coat, following a gradient to blend with the rest of their fur. These lions have an amazing amount of magic, and you can see it in their fur, which shines almost iridescently.

<b>White Gold</b> (10000g)
Very rare and precious are the enchanted White Gold Tail Rings. SkyLions equipped with these develop a gorgeous coat of sharply blending patches reminiscent of a Clouded Leopard, one of the most beautiful cats on earth. These SkyLions are simply stunning. The phenominal ammount of magic held in their tailrings has their fur at a constantly healthy sheen. Along with those SkyLions with Platinum Tail Rings, SkyLions with White Gold Tail rings are the most powerful lions out there other than those with metal from Callway.

<b>Callway Cast Iron</b> (n/a)
Made in the forges of Callway, metal mined from the magical earth, these Cast Iron tail rings hold a seemingly infinite ammount of magic. These SkyLions can be any colors in the world and have the full magic ability of their ancestors. Only special customs will recieve this ring.

<b>About Wunderkinds</B>
All SkyLions have the slight <i>slight</i> possibility of being a wunderkind. A wunderkind is a SkyLion born with a large ammount of magic. This magic usually becomes activated when a tailring is purchased. Our mascot Amadeus is a wunderkind. Though his pattern shows the magic of his 24 Karat Gold Tail Ring, his abilities range far beyond, ranking almost with the White Gold and Platinum Tail Ring wearing Sky Lions.
<i>Note</i>: Only SkyLions with a 24 Karat Gold Tail Ring or <i>higher</i> have the possible ability to become wunderkinds. Silver and copper tail rings don't have enough magic to trigger the hidden abilities.

<b>Main Thread Rules</b>
1. No arguing in the thread please. I can understand if you have a disagreement but maliciously attacking someone or being a poor sport is not allowed. I don't expect to have much of a problem with this so you guys shouldn't worry, just don't -bother- people. Be warned that if you disregard these rules and are annoying enough I'll put you on the graylist.

2. Keep posts in the thread relevant. No random spamming. Feel free to bump in a flatsale or contest but keep it to a MINUMUM. If you're bumping to try to find people to roleplay with, don't do it eight times in a row. -.-; And try to be creative with your bumps. A post just the word 'bump' is usually looked down upon.

3. SkyLions are ONLY available in flatsales, auctions and raffles. If none of these are going on you'll have to wait until the next one. Don't PM me asking for one. The only exception to this rule is Pet Trades heart

4. Pet trades are the only way to receive fully custom SkyLions other than a custom auction?these are very rare. I have no rules on pet trades, pretty much anyone can ask me. Depending on if I like your pet and have the time my answer will be unpredictable. This doesn't mean you shouldn't try smile

4. Do not use any of the artwork in this thread for your own purposes. Only SkyLion owners are allowed to have their certs in their signatures..obviously stare


<b>Role playing rules </b>
1. <b>GODMODERS WILL BE CASTRATED.</b>
(female godmoders will be tossed in the monkeypit. Dont think your gender gets you off)

2. Please try to RP on an average-advanced level. (Scenery, adjectives, go into the five senses) Posts do -not- have to be unnecessarily long, though. They should be an average of 1-2 short paragraphs with more if you feel. But don't go on for hours. Feel free to elaborate but remember to keep it to the point. heart (Note: I discourage <i>abstractly</i> poetic roleplay with use of scientific terms. Words like <b>auricles</B> and <b>occuli</B> are <b>not welcome here</b>. This doesn't mean you can't use words like 'maw' or 'irises' for example, just try to keep it on a level where it flows. Come on people, this is an RP, not anatomy III. If your not sure about an anatomy word think: Would people understand the gist of this?)

3. Remember, you're RPing cats. Try to behave appropriately. Work their personalities into their movements. Show their animal behaviors. You shouldn't RP your SkyLion like you would a human character

4. Try to stay true to how you've developed your character's personality. Be courteous to others (OOCly, IC you can be a total jerk, though your character might be shunned) and most of all, have fun!

<b>Flat sale rules </B>
1. Flatsales are a bit tricky, so I'll do my best to make it clear. Flatsales begin with an RP prompt. I post the word "GO" in big green letters and you have an amount of time to write a response. This can be any amount of time from a half hour to a whole day, I will let you know before the flatsale.

2. Posts in a flat sale are considered by order of posting. The first posts are GENERALLY considered first. This is only to make things fair. The first people get considered first while the latter people get more time to think/type. This rule's DEFINATELY not set in stone.

3. Basically, if you don't win a flatsale, don't feel bad. smile It could be a number of things, and your luck could change completely next time.

4. You may NOT edit your posts. I will be aware of editing and if I find ANY incidence of it I will disqualify your post. I may not even take the time to tell you. Editing even includes little spelling errors. Leave typos in, I know everyone makes them. I won't hold them against you. I'm looking for your basic RP style.

5. At the end of the flatsale I will write "STOP" in big red letters. After the Stop post is posted the flatsale is over. No posts will be accepted unless they are on the same minute as the Stop post. (Unless Gaia's being retarded. I'm lenient on this smile )

6. First place gets first choice of baskets. Second gets second choice and so on. The flatsale price of 5k must be paid in full within 24hours or the kitten will be reassigned. There are no exceptions to this rule. (The 5K does not include tail ring fees, these must be paid before your newborn grows to a cub, I am lenient on this, eg, I'll extend your SkyLion's time as a newborn if you need)

7. Every flatsale post <b>MUST</b> contain in it somewhere the words "Lei las reglas. Yay para mi" This can be posted anywhere you want it in your post. exclaim

<b>Auction Rules</b>
1. No fighting in the Auction thread.

2. No autobuy

3. No bidding store items that are worth under 5K

4. The winner will receive a fully customized SkyLion. This does not include lineart. Lineart will not be edited unless in special circumstances.

SkyLions act very much like ordinary lions. Here's an outline of their behavior..

<b>Social Behavior</b>
SkyLions are social cats. After growing up with eachother or learning to trust eachother they will have a natural tendency to form a pride with other SkyLions

<b>Communication</b>
SkyLions communicate with different noises such as ferocious roars to call another lion or a soft rumble to say their happy. A male may roar occasionally. A male outside the pride might interpret it as 'This land is mine' while a lioness in the pride would simply hear in it 'here I am'

SkyLions have especially interesting vocal chords. They have the ability to mimic thunder in their roars, or rain in their hissing; though they don't always do this.

They also communicate with each other through body contact. Passing SkyLions of the same pride greet each other by rubbing their cheeks together. They might groom eachother. Grooming cleans the lions and also serves to strengthen social bonds.

SkyLions are also extremely aware of the subtle changes in posture of each other. Facial expressions are unusually varied, they can read into the little differences between one another.

<i>In SkyLion roleplay the lions will be able to speak to eachother. Their speech will be 'traslated' into english words. This is just for roleplay's sake though. SkyLions do NOT understand English. Nor can they speak it.</i>

<b>Hunting</b>
SkyLions are carnivores and hunt their prey. They eat <i>meat</i> and very <i>rarely</i> an occasional fallen fruit. (Please do not try to make your SkyLion a vegitarian)
They uses their powerful forelegs to grab or slap down large prey that would otherwise outrun it. The jaws are short and strong with long canine teeth that are used to quickly kill the prey. They have three main methods of doing this.
a) A quick 'death bite' to the back of the neck. This only works with small prey
b) Crushing the windpipe and strangling. (They must hang onto the beast while it struggles. If they remove their teeth the animal will be able to breath through it's esophagus..eww)
c) Clamping down on the nose, another method of suffocation.

Often it takes more than one to take down suitable prey.

These creatures often hunt at night under the cover of darkness. They will hunt in the day as well, but are more likely to be seen by their prey.

If the SkyLions are in a pride, once the animal has been brought down, the heirarchy system comes in. The head male eats first, then the lioness hunters, then any other males and lastly cubs.

<i>Prey that your SkyLion will encounter in the Game Reserve</i>: zebra, giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, gazelles and impala.

Cub Grounds - Where all SkyLions enter the game reserve. It usually takes a while for them to become corageous enough to venture far beyond these grounds. The Cub Grounds give SkyLions a chance to get to know eachother and perhaps for a pride and migrate to another part of the territory.

Sentinel Tree - A favorite place of cubs and lions alike. All are welcome there, no matter where their allegience lies. It's a wonderful place for socializing or just taking a catnap in the great oak tree's shade. It was named Sentinel Tree as it seems protective in a grandfatherly way, offering safe haven to all with it's thick leafy branches. Funny..they stay a brilliant orange all year round..it must have some sort of magic..

Call Forest - Thick jungles of trees, alive with all sorts of small prey. Muskrats, rabbits, even the occasional lost calf.

Thompson Plains - Called so because of the great ammount of thompson's gazelle that roam freely. As well as these are other species of gazelle, zebras, wildebeests, and even girraffes. They also serve to feed various other predators such as cheetahs, hyenas, and wild dogs, and danger is apparent. So SkyLions should not venture onto them before they are at least teens.

Skeleton Desert - A desolate land, sucked dry of life. The hard baked earth is known to go through small earthquakes. It's a highly volitile and dangerous place..though some lions seem to feel an odd magical pull from the desert, they know it is foolish to venture into it. (dunDunDUN..eventual plot here)
