Welcome to Gaia! ::

Feel free to talk about/share information/comment on DNAngel's manga or anime here, defend your opinions, agree, disagree, ask questions, etc. Though...keep it more to the manga, 'cause I did make the thread in the manga forum. ^-^; Please note that I have read up to the thirteenth volume of the manga, and I haven't seen much of the anime. Don't ask where to find the scanlation or episode downloads for DNAngel, as you won't get any help here, or on Gaia. The manga has been licensed by Tokyopop in the US; the anime is in the hands of ADV Films. Handing out links is a bannable offense.

And, now...onto the rest of the stuff! 3nodding

Intro
So...what is DNAngel about? The main character, Niwa Daisuke, is an ordinary middle school student; however, he's a descendant of a long line of thieves. On the day of his fourteenth birthday, he is rejected by his crush, Harada Risa, and the following night he discovers a family secret. All the males in each generation of his family, upon turning the age of fourteen, have the unique ability to transform into the great phantom thief, Dark Mousy (who had disappeared for over forty years), with one condition. When the boy from the Niwa family finds someone he loves, and the person he loves feels the same way, Dark disappears until the next generation. After a heartbroken boy finds out he now has a double life with his other "self", what is he to do?

About the Mangaka
Yukiru Sugisaki was born on December 26, a Capricorn with blood type O. Her hobbies are dramas, video games, and 'collecting rabbit things.' She made her debut in Asuka Magazine with Namaiki no N. Her other works include DNAngel, Rizelmine, and Lagoon Engine, Lagoon Engine Einsatz, EDEN (a collaborative work), and Ascribe to Heaven (her newest title).

Presently, Lagoon Engine has been on an indefinite hiatus since late 2007. DNAngel, her most known work, is returning to publication after a year-long hiatus, which she spent working on Ascribe to Heaven. Both Lagoon Engine and DNAngel are published in Asuka Magazine, while Ascribe to Heaven is published in Young King OURS, a magazine known for series such as Trigun Maximum, Hellsing, and Excel Saga.

Sugisaki-san is also the artist of the BrainPowerd and Candidate for Goddess mangas, both of which have been animated. Her Neutral artbook contains artwork from DNAngel, BrainPowerd, and Candidate for Goddess, while FEDER focuses solely on DNAngel. She has also penned the well-known Sotsugyo M.

Taken from the Tokyopop site, with some stuff added by me. sweatdrop

For those of you who are familiar with the original Japanese manga, you'll notice that Sugisaki normally has a male image in her profile, or even a bunny (which has given her the name of Bunny-sensei). Though...now you've been informed - she is female, not male. ^-^;

Updates

15 November 2009 - Updated information regarding English volume 13. Also, DNAngel is scheduled to return in the January issue of Asuka (November 25)! owo
25 August 2009 - Wow, it's been a long while since this first page got updated, huh? Anyhow, I have added the missing information from volume 13 (Japanese), volume 12 (English), and added a separate section for unpublished chapters.
Yep, Sugisaki-sensei has put DNAngel on another hiatus. This time, she has begun a longer-running series than EDEN called Ascribe to Heaven. It is currently running in Young King OURS.
01 October 2008 - Added information regarded the English release of volume 12; since it has not been confirmed on Tokyopop's site, I might take it down/edit it. XD
04 September 2008 - Added information regarding the Japanese versions of volumes 12 and 13.
11 August 2008 - Not much to say--roughly updated the page with volume 12's information. XD
08 June 2007 - Long time no update, eh? o_o Well, I added a bunch of new fanart thanks to Toxic Kiss_x and daevaofthenight - sorry it took so long! Also, as of this update, Lagoon Engine has resumed publication in ASUKA; however, DNAngel is nowhere in sight. XD
04 July 2006 - Now that Tokyopop's removed the "artwork not final" note on the eleventh volume, the cover has been added to the thread. ^-^
30 April 2006 - Hey everyone - not supposed to be online, but someone bugged me about it. xD Anyhow, I'm in the process of updating the thread with information on volume eleven. :3
17 February 2006 - Two new fanart submissions have been added! =) Thanks, Darkest_Dreamer!
12 February 2006 - New affiliates! Four of [~True Light~]'s threads have been added to the links section. =)
4 February 2006 - Gave the first page a much-needed update. :3 My DNAngel manga came in last week, so I now have the information for those. >w< I will eventually scan the covers so they're not just crappy thumbnails. T-T
14 January 2006 - Ah, a new year, which brings up some sad news. One, Tokyopop is almost caught up to Japan in volumes, so they'll probably go on hiatus and wait until volumes twelve or later are released before resuming publication again. The best way to deal with this is to wait patiently. On a plus side, volumes one, two, and eleven will have more information soon - hopefully by March. I ordered my DNAngel tankoubon 11 a week or two ago, so it should be arriving within a month. :3
04 August 2005 - Added the volume eleven cover, thanks to a link provided by Dev Kimiko. >o< Yes, people, the volume exists, and it's coming out in six days (in Japan XD)!
19 July 2005 - I think I fixed up the front page with updates and junk - two new fanart pieces (from FuuTheSheep), volumes nine and ten (English), and volume eleven were added. >w<
05 July 2005 - New date to add for volume eleven in Japan! I just need to find the time to get to adding it. @.@; So busy these days...
16 April 2005 - Fanart by FuyuTsukasa and Dev Kimiko added. ^-^
02 April 2005 - Finally added the original release dates for Japanese DNAngel tankoubon one and two! Many thanks to Dev Kimiko on that. @-@/
08 March 2005 - New fanart from FallenFeather. ^w^-V
02 March 2005 - New fanart from Goodnight Starlight, and Kirakea. ^o^/
13 February 2005 - Fanart of Riku from Pr3ciousJewel. whee
31 January 2005 - More fanart by Socks-the-Kitsune; this time, it's Krad.
30 January 2005 - Added one new fanart - Socks-the-Kitsune drew Dark!
26 January 2005 - I changed the title...so it wouldn't scare people away, or something.
10 January 2005 - I rearranged a few posts; and realized that Tokyopop changed the cover for volume seven to the actual one. >.<

Sorry...the manga's been licensed in the US by Tokyopop; handing out any scanlation links (if they even exist anymore) isn't allowed on Gaia. sweatdrop

And...if you had read the top of the first post in the thread...you wouldn't have had to ask at all...
I love DNAngel! I hear they've finally started adding an English dub to the anime which I am DYING to see, but it's in America! T-T And I'm the UK... crying You lucky people xd :
I've read a bit of it; find it interesting. As someone on the Internet had mentioned earlier, there are some similarities between DNAngel and another work of Yukiru Sugisaki's, Candidate for Goddess. There are a lot of similar pics, as well as a bit of shounen-ai. ^.~*

But I prefer DNAngel. The storyline is different from other manga of its kind, and the characters are all so lovable. 3nodding

Yep, ADV Films has begun the release of the anime in the States; I haven't gotten the time to pick a copy up for myself, but I didn't really like the anime from what I had already seen of it. sweatdrop

I haven't read Candidate for Goddess yet, but thanks for the input. ^-^ I agree with you on the storyline - it's different for a shoujo series, that's for sure.
Hopefully people will come to this thread... sweatdrop
