Kyoto....

You find yourself walking the narrow streets of a prefecture; your footsteps echoing with the lonely emptiness of a long abandoned Hanamachi (geisha community). Where once the streets were busy with the musical lilt of geisha singing, and the plangent tones of the shamisen - now all is silent.
Your feet stir up fallen blossom and leaves, as you make your way to the local Hotel where you are staying during your trip. A drinking game with the mama-san of the bar at the Hotel leads you to stagger to your small room slightly worse for wear. Falling into bed you sleep soundly....

'Okasan! Okasan!'

The piping voice wakes you suddenly, and you stagger out of bed bleary eyed, not really noticing anything different. The room seems somehow different, but you carry on down the stairs and are confronted by a young girl, clad in an ornate kimono, her face artfully made up and her hair a lacquered crown.
'Okasan you are awake!'
You blink at the girl, and going to the sliding wooden doors look out to find that somehow everything has changed as you slept - the Hanamachi is bustling with life - and you now own an Ochaya, complete with several Geisha....and here your adventure begins.

Memoirs of a Geisha is a roleplay breedable that puts you in the role of protector, mentor and Mother of a Geisha (woman of art).
Or you can choose to bring up one of the Patrons that visit the Geisha - raising your boy into a man of culture and breeding that enjoys the various delights that the Geisha have to offer.

1:
This is my shop - therefore my rules. Please abide by them. They are there so that all is fair for everyone, everyone gets equal treatment, and everyone can enjoy their respective Geisha or Patron characters without problems.

2: This is a shop mule made for the purposes of easy running of the shop. I am not a scammer - my main character is called Sayuri_Nitta. That said - DO NOT contact me through PM's as that account! You will be greylisted if you do.

3: Important: Do not PM the shop account, unless you really feel you cannot ask your question in the shop thread. Any questions that are not addressed in the rules or FAQ should be asked in the thread and they will be answered asap.

4: I have a life - my colourist(s) have lives. Do not constantly badger as to when the next stage/sale/auction/item will be happening! Any Events will be listed in the Sales post - if there are delays to growth on our end then you will be notified.

5: No bitching - No whining. No 'I want one now' when there are none available. No fighting. No bringing fights into my thread. If you have a problem with anyone here or my shop rules - take it to PM's.

6: These are Roleplay required to grow - no rp - no growth. Occasionally non-rp Geisha will be available in auctions. Patrons will rarely if at all be available in a non-rp form.

7: THIS IS MY ART - the only thing I did not do is the image for the banners. Do not steal - do not alter. Do not claim it as your own.

F.A.Q

Q: How much are these?
A: At the moment pricing is still unknown as I'm unsure what to price at just now. Pricing will be confirmed as soon as poss.

Q: How will flatsales be run?
A: Most probably a roleplay prompt type sale. These are roleplay required - I really dont want people to buy and neglect them!

Q: Is it possible to own more then one Geisha/Patron?
A: I am happy to let a person own two Geisha and no more - after all the more you have, the more you have to roleplay! Both Geisha would use the same Pillow Book (journal). A person may own only one Patron however as there are less Patrons released in relation to Geisha.

Q: Do I have to roleplay my Geisha/Patron?
A: Simply - yes you do. They will not gain the skills to grow in stages if you dont roleplay. However there will on rare occasions be non-roleplay required Geisha released.

Q: Is this shop based on the book by the same name?
A: Yes, partly. The book is a favourite of mine and the whole Geisha history and culture is of great interest to me. But its not faithfully based on the book and I do use artistic license.

Q: Can I bribe you for one?
A: Depends xd
If your bribe consists of bunny slippers or the like then yes - I certainly wont say no.

Q: Do you take pet trades?
A: Some - it depends really. Ask me and I might. But please dont be offended if I turn down your request for a trade. I have specific pet wishlists and not enough time to devote to every pet that might take my fancy xp

Female
Item Stage
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
An item that represents the child that you will be looking after is delivered to you. This is the time where you prepare for your charges arrival.

Child Stage
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Your Geisha or Patron is living with you now. The child needs much guidance, tutelage and direction in order to be set on the right path. Impressionable and dependant.

Teen Stage
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Your child is now either a young man or a Maiko now. Your young patron will be more interested in the charms of the young ladies, and the Maiko needs a firm hand to keep her on the path of artistic entertaining. A tricky stage of life.

Adult Stage

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Maiko is now a Geisha, and the Patron now a well heeled man of the world. At this time there is a degree of choice for both sexes: will the Geisha keep her chosen profession or will she marry, and raise children?
The Patron may be married himself by this time (not necessarily to a Geisha), and will be in a good position to look after the financial needs of more then one Geisha.

General Roleplay Rules
1: You may not name your Geisha after a character from the book - sorry but the main characters will all be available to own through auction, and I dont want duplicate namings.
2: Please keep your roleplay pg 13.
3: Journals/Pillow books need to be updated at least once a month. If you need to put your Geisha or Patron on a hiatus please let me know. Only do this if you know you will be away from Gaia. I will be extremely displeased if you put your child on hiatus and I find that you have been posting all over Gaia!

Geisha's

1: Geisha's grow on a points system - They have specific skills they can raise - Conversation, Charm, Dance, Instruments, Tea Ceremony and Presentation.
2: When they get to specific level in each skill they will grow a stage. But you dont have to master every skill (unless you want your Geisha to be particularly accomplished). Mastery in dance will mean you dont have to master Instruments and vice versa.
3: Geisha's earn Hanadai (flower money) for entertaining Patrons. This can be used to purchase items from the thread shop ie: hair ornaments, make-up, gifts and even Kimono. (Although Kimono will be expensive to prevent constant switching and burdening the colourist) During their child stage they will be given pocket money as they will not be old enough to attend functions.
4: Geisha are entertainers - they will of course have a relationship in order to have children (breeding) but they do not sell themselves! If you roleplay your Geisha as having to many men friends or constant boyfriends her cultural skills will go down, as will her Hanamachi status and her earnings will also fall.

Patrons

1: Patrons are only allowed to ask for a specific number of Geisha to entertain at functions - five at most. They may only sponsor and have a special relationship with two Geisha at a time. If there are irreperable break ups between Geisha and Patron, then the Patron may sponsor another Geisha (provided she does not already have a Patron sponsoring her).
2: Patrons also have skills to raise in order to grow a stage; Charm, Intelligence, Education, Personality, Generosity.
3: Patrons get given flower money as their skills grow so that they may sponsor Geisha. The money can also be used to purchase gifts for said Geisha.
