...Background
    There once was a planet - far, far away from here - that was covered entirely in dry, parched desert, so hot that the sands of the deserts were said to be ashes left over from giant, ancient fires that scorched the ground. Nothing grew, nothing lived, nothing breathed. The planet was nothing but an empty wasteland floating in an uninhabited galaxy. It was a lonely existence, and the desert planet often found itself longing for company, to have some form of life roaming its vast tracts of land. One day, the planet sent a prayer up the Light Gods, pleading with them to give it life, or just remove it entirely; for it felt that an existence without life was hardly an existence at all.

    The Light Gods were sympathetic to its pleas and created a large oasis on its surface, a paradise amidst a desert, perfect for supporting any form of life the planet desired. Fish were placed into the fresh, clean waters of the oasis, animals roamed the thick forests, and birds drifted lazily on warm currents. But the best creation of all, creatures known as Hayeta, took their first, fragile steps on its green grass and immediately brought the planet great joy. The Light Gods had created the Hayeta out of the sands of the deserts, each composed of the legendary ?ash.? However, the Light Gods gave the planet a warning: if ever a Hayeta were to wander back into the desert, it would turn back into ash once more, and would never be seen again.

    The Hayeta were small, delicate creatures - they were surprisingly shy and reclusive, preferring to live their lives away from one another in different parts of the giant oasis. Each one was incredibly distinct in appearance and personality, some even adapting to certain lifestyles aside from that of the ground - Hayeta with wings and fins even became commonplace. Still, each one was starkly individualistic. However, each and every Hayeta had two things in common with one another: all of them feared the desert beyond the oasis, and all of them revered the Great Shaman.

    The Great Shaman was the first Hayeta ever to breathe on the desert planet, the first ever to live, and was sent directly from the Light Gods to care for the rest of the Hayeta as though they were his children. He was gifted with magic - the ability to see into the future, to provide for his people - and he shared his gift with all his people. Sworn to life of poverty and kindness, which he submitted to willingly, the Great Shaman wandered around the oasis, asking only bread in exchange for his supernatural abilities. The Hayeta revered the old man as a messenger of the Light Gods, and happily accepted his services. The Great Shaman was a man adored and loved by all.

    Except one, who was known as the Witch.

    The Witch too was gifted with magic, strong enough to even rival the Great Shaman?s. How she got her magic is unknown, but many say she was born from the Dark Gods, who were constantly at war with the Light Gods. It was the belief of many that she was sent to corrupt the simple, good society of the Hayeta. The ambitious Hayeta - those filled with greed, those with dark purposes and desires - begged for the services of the Witch, who demanded expensive offerings but always, always got results. Yet the Witch envied the Great Shaman?s popularity with the people and wished to be the strongest person on the oasis. And she loathed the Hayeta who followed the Great Shaman blindly, for hanging on to his every word, and, most of all, for preferring him over her.

    Years passed. The Great Shaman?s powers dwindled with age, but the Witch?s powers only became stronger and stronger. Soon, she was vastly more powerful than the Great Shaman; but still the Great Shaman was considered wisest and most powerful of all to the Hayeta, and still the Witch was ignored for a man she considered senile and outdated. The Witch became consumed with bitterness and rage - suddenly, the desire to destroy everyone overcame her. The urge to rid the oasis of all but her became so strong that she threw herself into the pursuit of finding a curse so potent, it would wipe the entire planet of all life save her own.

    Though the Great Shaman?s powers had crumbled with age, the old man still had the ability to see glimpses of the future, and once while sleeping, he saw the aftermath of the Witch?s curse; the land reduced to nothing but desert once more, the beautiful oasis destroyed, his people completely wiped out. In a desperate attempt to save his people, the Great Shaman ordered that they all journey into the desert. The people did not understand and were terrified, but they knew the Great Shaman was a wise man, and always did as he said. So it came to pass that one day, while the Witch was still devising her curse, the entire population of Hayeta all stepped out into the desert.

    And immediately, each and everyone turned into colorful pieces of ash, scattered across the desert.

    For a while the Witch was upset that she hadn?t gotten to use her curse, but then she realized - everyone was gone, including the Great Shaman! She was victorious after all. And so she lived out the remainder of her days on the oasis, in blissful solitude, until she too passed away, and her body turned to dust and mixed into the desert, along with the others.

    And the planet was silent for millennia upon millennia upon millennia.

    Until one day, a day like any other initially, some of the ashes began to shake. Slowly, they came together to form familiar shapes: arms, legs, head, fingers, a full figure! And not just one, but two, each traced in the colorful ash.

    Then the figures breathed and shook the ash off their backs, and were full of life.

    For the Great Shaman had not destroyed the people as the Witch had hoped - he had preserved them, and had given them a means to be reborn. In his last act before entering the desert himself the Great Shaman split himself into two separate beings with the ability to be reborn from the ash when the time was right. And so it came to be that the Great Shaman?s ?children? were born, one completely different from the other. And these children immediately knew their purpose and how to attain it. So one child went to scour the deserts for the ashes of its people, and the other set about creating bottles within which the ashes would be placed. And so it was for years - one child creating bottles, the other pouring sand into them, and both enchanting the bottles.

    But now the ashes have mingled, and it is time for their race to be reborn.

...The Bottle
    Your Hayeta is currently a colorful bundle of ashes stuck in a bottle. They�re a combination of all different sorts of Hayeta - after all, how can one tell one person from another if all they are is colorful ash? - and thus it is difficult to tell what, exactly, they might look or act like in their next stage. But, of course, there are ways to tell. The colors in the bottle, for one, may give clues as to what their next stage might be. Also, note the item attached to the bottle with string: do NOT remove that item. It is this item that connects the Hayeta with its old world and allows it to cross back over into a physical form. Technically your Hayeta really can�t tell what�s going on around it, but it�d be nice if you could make its stay in the bottle as comfortable as possible, as this facilitates the process of returning back to a physical form.

...The Adolescent - Unique Art!
    Your Hayeta has emerged from the ashes as a new member of its race! They�re small and fairly delicate at this stage, so please be very careful with them. Typically, adolescent Hayeta range from three inches to seven, but most fall somewhere inbetween. Your Hayeta is born with no knowledge of anything like the desert planet, the Witch, or the Great Shaman - it�s up to you whether you would like to tell them or not. They are, however, born with the ability to speak both the language of their people and basic English. By this point they have a distinct personality and appearance, complete with their own likes, dislikes, and opinions. Also, the item attached to the bottle which helped anchor the Hayeta to the physical realm is still present - in more ways than one. The Hayeta will carry it around at all times (even if the item is large it will seem relatively light to them, though the objects of others may be excruciatingly heavy for your Hayeta) and the item has even had some impact on your Hayeta�s traits! Hayeta must eat and drink to survive at this point, and you may discover that your Hayeta has strong likes and dislikes. Just be sure to take good care of it! Remember: what you do with your Hayeta by this stage and its own decisions will effect its adult stage.

    Body Type: (Slender, skinny, muscular, voluptuous - anything you want! I bet you're sick of me saying that.)
    Height: (Short, tall, or average)
    Special Trait: (Please try to pick a trait that involves your object. For instance, Leyti has sea shell arms, a lion's tail, and the beginnings of a lion's mane. Yes, you can get original and use the item's name rather than the item itself, like I did, :P.)
    Personality: (Just a few words to describe your Hayeta!)

If you receive a semi-custom, you get to pick the item, the gender, up to three skintones and one special trait based on your item. The rest is up to us.
