As you stroll through the Breedable/Changing pets market of Gaia, you come across a ramshackle store that you don't recognize. The walls have not yet been painted and the sign above the door was little more than a poster board with sharpie written on it. It says 'Kirntaur Laboratories.'
You wonder to yourself, 'What's a corn-tur?' You had certainly never heard of that before. And then you hear a bleating sound.
"Breea! Breea!" A strange, unfamiliar creature makes noises at you. It is tied to a stake by a simple dog leash and collar. But this is no dog. Its ears are large and floppy, its feet are two-toed hooves, and adorning its head are blunt, giraffe-like horns. You assume that this is a kerter, or however it's pronounced.

Suddenly, a slipper flies through the open window of the store. "Shut it up out there, 'Ko," A girl's voice calles out, irritated. "You're going to scare all those half-angel-half-demon-gothic-winged-elemental-neko-kitty-puppy monstrosities they're trying to sell at that pet shop down the street." The source of the voice peeked her head out the window to toss a serious look at the beast.

The bespectacled girl notices you. "Great Barber of Pearl Harbor! It's a customer!" She disappears back through the window and runs out the door to greet you. "Hey! Welcome to Kirntaur Labs!" Hearing it out loud, you find that 'Kirntaur' rhymes with 'burn far.' "Sorry the place looks so ramshackle, we're still getting everything prettified."
She leads you inside. The store is small, and not very professional looking. None of the animals are properly restrained, they lounge around on piles of cedar chips on the floor. The building looked bigger than this from the outside...perhaps the bulk of the space was behind a door in the back labeled 'Employees Only (unless you brought a bribe).'
"If you're interested in adopting one of our animals, we've got brochures and pamphlets and other official document-type papers to explain how to take care of them." She hands you a few papers. From the font and quality of paper, it's painfully obvious that she made them with Microsoft Word on her home computer. "You can also go around and get to know the Kirns. Don't worry, they're trained not to bite. I'll be back here if you need anything, just knock." She quickly slips behind the 'Employees Only' door, leaving you with the animals. It's a bit odd that she left the place unattended; you could easily run off with the cash register...unless these Kirntaurs are trained for other things as well...

((Welcome to Kirntaur Laboratories! One of the goals of our shop is to be accessible to everybody, while still having incentives for veterans. If you're a new member roaming around for their first pet, you are in no danger of getting trampled over in flatsales by the oldbies. There will be enough for everyone. And if you intend to stick around and create your own little Kirn flock, there are lots of rare breeds that you can collect...for enough cash. Because MegaRose is greedy that way.
Most of the Kirntaur experience comes from the guild. There you can find in-depth info on different breeds, set up your own Kirn journals, roleplay, and order stuff directly from the Kirn colorists. It's not necessary to go there regularly to get a Kirntaur...but it is if you want to get involved in the Kirn Community. The guild is public.))
Announcements
Now that all of Mega's current flatsale/gift Kirns are grown she's going to be putting the shop on hiatus indefinitely until it can be better organized. The item contest is still on and the offer for a co-manager still stands.
Kirntaur item-making contest!

The few people who ever come into this thread know that it's not very active in here. The truth is, I'm not very good at managing the shop, especially while I'm focusing on my lineart auction. I have tons of concepts I want to integrate into the shop, and I'm ready and willing to do plenty of art, but I have no business sense and no clue how to make this place succeed.
I started this shop with a partner to manage the business side of things, allowing me to focus on art, but he hasn't had internet access for a while now and quite frankly has little experience in the Breedables forum to begin with. I'd like to announce that a position for co-manager for Kirntaur Labs will be open.
To apply, please PM MegaRose with why you'd make a good manager. I'm looking for someone who can:
-Organize my ideas and integrate everything into the shop without confusion
-Keep track of colorist sales and the 25% profit that comes to the Labtech311 account
-Deal with customer questions and comments
-Draw in business through events and advertising
-Help me launch an affiliation and linking reward system (y'know, like those art contests have been doing lately)
-Divvy up the Labtech311 account's gold and distribute the salaries for the managers, uploader (Tsumirei), etc.
-Bring the current absent manager [ Dead.Rest ] up to speed when he returns
-Other stuff
The co-manager gets access to the shop mule, crew status in the guild, and a cut of the 25% colorist profit kept in the Labtech311 account. The co-manager will also have authority to approve lineart edit requests, and start and maintain auctions, raffles, and events. The job will also involve a lot of conversations with me through PMs about different ideas and stuff.
Don't worry, even if no co-manager is chosen, the shop will still go on. However, it'll be in the state it's currently in: very slow, and a little chaotic. So please, if you think you're capable, drop me a PM.

No art theft. Any improper use of Kirntaur images, including banners, tags, lineart, individual colored pets, etc. Is bannable and illegal.
Use understandable grammar. Chatspeak, lack of capitalization, lack of punctuation, poor spelling, and general misuse of the English language will get you nowhere. You will be ignored.
