..: About the Shishi :..

Welcome to Shishi Mountain! What is a Shishi you ask? Well, first off, their name is pronounced she-she. Shishi are spirits that live to protect people, places, animals, you name it! The only problem is when the Shishi are first brought into the world (as lucky talismans) they are missing most of their power. A Shishi's will to live is its will to protect its charges, but until they are an adult, they do not have all of their power. This is where we come in! By making a contract with a Shishi, we agree to protect the Shishi spirit until it reaches adulthood. In return, upon reaching adulthood your shishi will be your faithful friend and life-time guardian.

Being the etherial beings they are, they know no language bariers. Also, since Shishi are animal spirits (think lion-dog, see origin below), they tend to get along well with all species, and can be RPed along side anyone or anything (RP is not required though).

How did I come to find Shishi?! Well, I'm glad you asked! Its kind of a crazy story, really. eek Please see post 4, story.

Shishi grow in three basic stages. Talisman, Child and Adult. Talismans will preview the pattern of your Shishi. The one pictured here is a colored sample.

A male will have its mouth open to ward off evil spirits and a female will have its mouth closed to keep in good spirits.

..: Origins :..
These breedable Shishi are based of a real life mythological creature. They are known by a few names such as Shishi, Koma-inu, or Shisaa. Shishi are lion-dog protectors of temples and shrines in east Asia. There are usually placed outside, but there was one period in Japan when people brought them inside their temples. Shishi statues always come in mated pairs. One will have its mouth open to ward off evil spirits (male) and the other will have its mouth closed to keep in good spirits.

I have a link to the Database, but I dont really know if it stays as up to date as Lucky Devil. GEN Seems to be consistantly lower than any other price guide.. as much as I'm an old school GEN fan.
