((Modified for REASONS))
Chang E (will be known as Chang since its easier and sounds better) was the wife of a warrior god named Hou Yi (will be known as Yi for same reasons). One day, the Ten Suns decided to come out all at once, instead of taking turns like the used to; those living in the mortal realms suffered greatly as the forests and grasslands burned, the ground cracks open with lack of moisture, and humans and animals alike burned to death, cooked by the intense heat of the Suns. Yi was outraged when he heard of this; he imediately made ten magical arrows, intending to shoot down the Ten Suns to end the disaster. He went down to the mortal realms, stook on the peak closest to the sky, strung his mighty bow, and shot down the Suns, one by one. As the Suns fell, they turned into three-legged crows, encircled by a ball of flame, and dissolved into ashes as they hit the ground. One human, however, thought of something: if Yi shot down all the suns, what will light the lands afterwards? So he stole one arrow from Yi's quiver, and the sun that was spared shines to this very day.
The Sun God, father of the Ten Suns, is not so pleased with this; He banished Yi and Chang to the mortal realms, their status reduced to that of ordinary mortals.

A few years passed. The pair lived as mortals, not at all happy with this new position. It was a quiet life, one overshadowed by its previous glories. The Sun God had made sure no one would know of their true identity, and simply told the other gods that Chang and Yi had vanished during the fight with his sons.
They were well respected as human beings, but it wasn't the same.
One day Yi decided to seek help from the Quenn of the Heavens, for he has heard that she possesses a Potion of Immortality. Drink half the bottle, you become an immortal. Drink the whole thing, and you can become a god.
So he went on a quest to seek out the Queen at her home atop the Kuen Luen Mountain. After overcoming all the difficulties thrown at him ((can't find info on details; but details are unimportant)) he finally managed to convince the Queen to give him a bottle of the potion.
When he got back home, he only had time to tell Chang of his success before he was called away to help someone. While he was away, Chang drank the entire potion herself. She began to feel light-headed, then suddenly found herself flying towards the Heavens. However, she could not bring herself to face the other gods, so she turned around and flew to the moon instead.
There, she spent centuries in the bleak and abrrenmoon, all this time gazing down at the other worlds longingly, until when barely anyone believes in her existance anymore.
They say Gods arrise and fall as their believers come and go. Only a memory of her exists now, tied down by those who still know of her, and the rare few who still believed in her. Maybe that's why she no longer answered the poets' praises.
But some say that she had chosen to fade herself, an empty soul drive by loneliness and cravings. And that, some day, when the right time comes, she will return, to repay for what she had done in a moment of sheer desperation and hopelessness.
Will she ever get that chance?
((note: I have a full explanation for why she took the potion and why she couldn't face the other gods; it was alot more complicated than greed and pride alone. However, I found it difficult to fit it into this description; I just can't seem to do it justice by putting it down in words.))
