"I... I wanted to apologize." Kimberly said faintly, stepping in.
"Kim, what is it that surrounds you? It's like you're someone else entirely from what I've seen." Tessa said, looking to the Dhampyr with a one-eyed stare. If it was the only way she would get an answer, she would test a theory.
Kimberly remained silent for several seconds. "The infusion of my soul created a sort of self-sacrificing moral code when I allow it." She lifted a hand, the cyan aura flaring about it for just a moment. "When it's red, the morals are lifted and I no longer care for repercussions that aren't directly related to my lifespan."
"And those related to the personal feelings of multiple witnesses?" Kim nodded slightly, "Then why set it away?"
She took a step back, arms flying wide, "Because he's been nothing but good to me ever since I first boarded this ship! Why would I consciously betray him - I have no reason at all to!" She sighed, calming down somewhat. "I knew I couldn't consciously bring him to harm, but he needed me to try. I had no real way out of it..."

"Why?" Calypso asked softly, eyes raising to Kimberly. "Surely he would not want death upon himself." She said, eyes glancing to Jack, and then to Tessa with concern. She shook it off. "Whyever would you agree?" She no less than demanded, her gaze and attention snapping back to Kimberly, eyes narrowing. The wine froze in a spiral before collapsing into the bottle as Calypso lost her concentration.

"I wanted you to help..." Tessa said faintly, hardly even remotely audible, "But you weren't there..." She looked up to Calypso.
Kimberly shook his head. "That's why he asked me, Tessa. I agreed because I was raised rather forcefully not to go against a direct order from my Captain. I didn't know what to do, believe me I didn't want to but what else am I to do when it's been so near to all I've known?"
She sighed, obviously defeated. "Please understand, I tried to spare him... will he be alright?"

Calypso's gaze darkened, condemning herself to her thoughts, bitter anger with the force of a hurricane assaulting her mind, all aimed at herself. "Yes, in time. What a fool, what a fool indeed." She muttered. She fell still with a moment before she brought her fist down on the desk, sending the bottle crashing to the floor and shattering. She stood and went to the balcony, hands curled around it, nails digging into it as the wind suddenly whipped around her. Her eyes were narrowed and searched the waves with great anger.

Kimberly followed fully two minutes after Calypso had made for the balcony, before noticing the comparatively violent trend that had settled over the seas, which in and of itself struck a chord of fear in her. "I can understand more than most would credit me for, but I admit this is one case that confuses me..."
She held onto the rear railing nervously, as she contemplated for a moment how to phrase her question. "Why engrave your feelings into the environment around you, into that which you control?"

Calypso smiled sadly and turned to regard Kimberly. "It is my nature." She said, gesturing out to the seas. "I do not merely control these seas, I am them. It is what I am." She said, turning back to view the sea, leaning forwards on the railing. Her gaze was dark and none too forgiving. "I choose not to restrict myself to one single form, I am never entirely bound as physically a single being." She explained more in depth.

"Then why take one at all?" Kimberly asked, turning to regard Calypso. Of all the questions that sprang to her mind as a result of knowing she wasn't bound, that was the only one that hinted at what she more wanted to know without either relinquishing her knowledge of Adeska being Jack's half-sister and the woman being the mother to them both, nor posing much of any offensive inquisition. "I don't mean to pry, but I don't know what else to do at this point."

Calypso

I am the sea

"With forms comes power, pleasure, thought. Without form I am not collected, I am not half the strength that I am." Calypso said, her gaze studying the seas speculatively, gaze as sharp as an eagle's. "A goddess cannot be presented to her people as an uncollected shape, there must be something to look to." She said, not entirely betraying the true reason. Her mind had begun to suspect Kimberly of knowing things that either Jack or Adeska would have told her; she assumed the earlier. Eyes narrowed, Calypso maintained silence for many moments.

"You know." She said quite simply, rather quietly, eyes looking to Kimberly, a piercing, but non-provoking glance in her eyes. She met the Dhamphir's eyes for a minute or two before returning her gaze to the sea.

"Eternity, my fate, and the fate of my children, bears many faults, many misgivings, many chances for grief." She said. "Yes, they are my own, even if different fathers could lay claim to each one of them. Do not think ill of me, Adeska was...she was not my choice." She said with a time weary sigh.

"What-no!" Kimberly cried hollowly, taking a half-step back with a growing fear in her face. The simplicity of being a goddess explained her question for the fact of what it had been, but it subsequently brought into her mind that Calypso knew far more of the matter of her unasked questions than she dared betray. She shook her head slightly, closing her eyes. "I mean no disrespect in asking, and... while I may not understand I sympathize. Far too many times, the actions of the living aren't truly ours to choose..."
As she said it, she lifted a hand in front of herself, allowing a small flicker of her bloodied darkness to flit through her aura. "Just as I myself demonstrated here and today..." she added, hesitantly. "What should I have done, if I may ask?"

"Exactly what you have done." Calypso said bluntly with no explanation. It remained this way for a while longer as she surveyed the still very uneasy seas, her eyes reflecting the hue of the seas.

"You have convinced me that I am indeed a fool, and even more naive than I had been hundreds of years ago." She said, leaning over the railing slightly, eyes narrowed. "The strength of man should not be underestimated." She merely remarked, her tone not suggesting it was a topic easy to converse about.

Kimberly blinked in surprise, but after several seconds dropped her head in slight shame, still having a difficult time accepting the truth of Calypso's words. She looked out to sea, off to the west where she knew home would turn out to be should she prefer to return more immediately...
A choice she was growing less and less fond of. Necross had been home to her for nearly a century until she made her failed effort at a normal life. As normal as she could have hoped, in any case. Still it was home to one besides herself, no real company and as relatively unfeeling as Kalrael could be she wasn't too certain he was any better for her being there.
Meanwhile as she looked back to the Duchess, she realized it had grown on her far too quickly for her own liking. Quickly enough that she felt as though she were being led into a trap, but a brief look to Calypso told her she had already sprung it. It was one of those cases she may as well have dismissed as too good to be true with the evidence staring her cold and hard in the face - but it was certainly not perfect either.
She reached into a pocket and pulled a small coinlike container from it, allowing a trace of both halves in her power to it before turning to Calypso and holding it slightly out with a tentative yet grave sincerity in her eyes. "Can you keep this on deck for about... a week?" she asked, the smallest of smiles lighting her face. "I'd originally come to merit passage to my home in Tessalona, but I've decided I'd rather stay and take part here. I figured I aught to at least inform someone there before I act on the decision, but I'd need a way back and I can hardly think of any way but this to use as a means of tracking. Can you hold onto it until I return?"

"Of course." Calypso said, recieving the container and inspecting it. "How long will you be gone?" She asked, looking back up to the Dhamphir. Out on deck Adeska was fretting over Miguel, casting nervous glances at the cabin. Eventually she merely gave up on patience and barged through, glaring at Kimberly, about to speak before Calypso stopped her.

"It is not what you think. Your brother will be fine." She said gently and Adeska nodded.

Kimberly took a step back and brought a hand across herself defensively at Adeska's sudden emergence before calming at Calypso's intervention. She stepped up onto the railing, almost weightless on the thin wood as she looked away over the sea. "Ask Jack," she said quietly, turning to the girl with a solemn look in her eyes. "Once he recovers, he can explain better than I know. As for how long I will be, I can't quite make any guarantees. If any further than a week and a half passes while I'm gone, I don't think I'll be coming back."
She looked over to Calypso, then to Adeska, regret inching onto her face. "Good luck. I should be back within the week, if not well... best wishes." Without another word, she leaped off into a dead sprint across the ocean surface, the waves proving nothing more than slightly disorienting to her.

In quiet hushed tones Calypso explained to Adeska what had transpired Nd soothed the girl; promising to heal Miguel as soon as she could afford to. For the meantime though, the goddess needed to be back at Jack's side. Having explained this, Adeska bobbed her head, ever faithful. The young woman; she could hardly be called a girl by this point, passed through the cabin, touching Jack's arm gently. She took Miguel below, fingers interlaced in his.

Calypso re-entered the cabin and stood before Jack, a mild frown on her face. "He is lucky to be a vampire. Though I might need to reset bones if any have been broken." She murmured, not seeming to be aimed towards anyone as she thought aloud.

"Maybe I can help?" a familiar voice asked from the cabin's doorway, behind it two others watching along in concern. "After all, I'd hate to have come all this way for nothing."
Tessa sprang up from the bed, seeming to take no time at all in moving to embrace her comrades. "You're late," she giggled weakly, "What took you so long?"
"We were on the other side of Tessalona; how could you expect us to have come sooner?" Cassandra retorted, but silenced once Tessa waved off her own dry wit.
Vanessa looked again over to Jack, before stepping forward and nearly reaching a hand to his shoulder, but she drew it back all the same with a look to Calypso. "If I may, of course." she offered, a faint green power swirling over her hand.
