How did you come across the band?

The guys who sat beside me in computers knew I'm German and had stumbled across the video for Augen Auf on youtube. He wanted to know if I knew them so he says to me, "Do you know the band 'Augen Auf'?" ((The way he pronounced Augen Auf was hilarious. xD))
I said no, and he showed me the video.
That night, I went and downloaded some songs (keeping within my 10-song-maximum) and loved them all.
That was maybe…4 months ago?
Since then I haven't really gotten motivated to learn more about them until now.

Well, i love Rammstein and just german stuff generally
and one day i had free itune codes, and i asked my german friend for a band to look for, she told me OOMPH! i download Gott ist ein Popstar and Augen Auf! and have loved them ever since then.

(btw, if you love rammstein and oomph! and heavy metal, look for the band "Hanzel und Gretyl" they are american but sing mostly in german. i saw them at a gig at a receantly and blew me away, and thats after i was astouded by their CDs, ask me for more info bout them)

Let's face it...unless you're in Germany or its surrounding countries (a.k.a not America), OOMPH! is pretty much unknown. So how did you hear about the guys?

I'm a major fan of Rammstein and I wanted to find some more German music. Someone in the R+ guild had an OOMPH! ShKM sig and I was like "There's a German band...kinda freaky frontman there, but I'll check 'em out." I heard Augen Auf! and its been love ever since. heart

Basically the same exact thing happened to me (minus the R+ guild thing....i tried getting accepted to that guild but they never accepted me crying ) Ive been a fan of German and Finnish music for years about 6 years ago i got into Rammstein, then i found Tokio Hotel through another german kid i basically grew up with, then i tried looking for some other german bands and so i went to Youtube...listening to the same Rammstein songs and on the side bar "Augen Auf" by Oomph! came up. I thought that Oomph! was a funny name so i decided to try it out. and i fell in love with it. so yeah...im a dork too.

hey i have a suggestion for you now. if you like heavy metal/death metal try listening to Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, Dir En Grey (song:child prey) or Nightwish.
They are not german, children of bodom and Nightwish are Finnish
Dimmu Borgir is norweagen (i spell bad)
and Dir en grey is Japanese
give them a shot. and this Hanzel und Gretyl is really good.

My friend online, who lives in Canada told me about them!
I was looking for some new music, and he said "listen to some Oomph! they're very good." and so, he showed me the video for Augen Auf, I fell in love with the song, AND with the video!

I got alot of my friends hooked onto Oomph as well too. xd

I actually only a few days ago started listening to them, my friend from school (who grew up in Germany) had 'Augen Auf' on her myspace profile. After I listened to it I got addicted to Dero's voice and the somewhat techno melodies as well. It sucks because I live in America, and I can't buy any of their CDs, so I'm stuck listening to them online and watching music videos online as well. Augen Auf is the only song that I was able to find on 'itunes' to buy, but I love almost all of their songs that I've heard so far!

If anyone has any suggestion on what might be their best CD, please let me know because I think I'm going to just buy a CD online and have it shipped to me.

Really? I thought I'd seen more OOMPH! on iTunes than Augen Auf!...I thought they had Sex hat keine Macht and Supernova at least. Hm, I could be wrong seeing as how I never use iTunes to buy stuff.

GlaubeLiebeTod is a good ablum like Watchdawg said...I'd reccommend Wahrheit oder Pflicht. You can the website OOMPH! Supernova to hear some clips from each album. It might help you decide what to buy. biggrin

Really? I thought I'd seen more OOMPH! on iTunes than Augen Auf!...I thought they had Sex hat keine Macht and Supernova at least. Hm, I could be wrong seeing as how I never use iTunes to buy stuff.

No, at the time that I looked Itunes did have any of them but Augen Auf. I looked again a few minutes ago and I figured out that I had made a mistake in spelling the band name >.<, so stupid of me really. But yes, they do have Supernova and Sex hat keine Macht, but those are the only two that I recognize on there.

It's sad, I really want to know more of their songs but I only know of those that my friend suggested to me xp

On LimeWire I popped in a random genre that I liked and the song 'Gekreuzigt' came up. I'm like "Wtf is that?" So I downloaded it and fell in love with Oomph! there. :]

It happened when I fell in love with Rammstein. [that's a whole other story, though, and it'll get me way off topic, so I'll just skip that.] I was looking around for more German bands on Herzeleid.com, since there are some listed on this one column. I clicked on OOMPH! first, by accident or whatever. They looked awesome. I swear, my first thought was,"That guy with the spiky hair's hot. redface " So, I find out more about them. My first OOMPH! song: Trauemst du. I fell in love with it, so I checked out more songs. The song that got me hopelessly hooked: Augen Auf!. I was about to drool when he was saying 'Eckstein, eckstein, alles mus versteckt sein' towards the end. xDDD

But yeah. Thus, how I found out about OOMPH!. : D

I blame the guild creator. IRL, she's pretty much my best friend ever and through her evil influences I have been swayed to the loveliness that is Oomph!. Granted, they aren't my favorite- that would be L'Ame Immortelle- but Dero's voice makes me want to... Well, you know. heart
