Remaining motionless for several moments, Jack puzzled over what had been revealed to him. The sun was setting which betrayed the couple had been unconscious for over a day and a half. Soon though, Jack was upright with Tessa, looking her over carefully, slipping his hand to under her chest to softly feel for a heartbeat, before brushing his hand against her cheek softly. "You had a brother?" He asked softly, curiously. "How are you feeling?" He asked in another moment, looking to her eyes with curiosity.

Tessa took a brief moment to look down at herself and dropped her shoulders slightly in shame.
"I never really looked to him like a brother. Now that I look back on it I wasn't much of a good sister too him and all he ever tried to do was show me what I was doing wrong. I took it as a show of his own supposed superiority and fought back at every turn, but..."
She shook her head and sighed, unable to carry on the topic any longer. Propped forward on her arms she felt a tear drop onto her leg.
"Anyway... I'll be alright. I can see what your sources meant though."

"What do you mean?" Jack asked, his eyes still looking over her face with curiosity. As he waited for a response though, he thought about his own sister, even if she weren't his full sister. He couldn't imagine her not knowing that he was her brother for the short time that she was on board the ship and ignorant of her relation to him. Jack furrowed his brow, betraying his deep thought. He was going to be kinder to her in the future, perhaps talk with her, try to develop a bond. This thought led him to his mother, then he shut his own thoughts out from his mind, not willing to let them drift to his father. "Are you thirsty?" He asked.

"The... transformation, I guess." Tessa said softly, "There is a certain relief to having your life lifted out of you, but I don't think I could quite call it one way or the other. Pleasurable, cold... very contrasting at the same time."
She lowered her head in thought, but when she looked up to Jack she could not tear her eyes away from him for a moment.
"No, I'll be alright for now. Besides, I've got you, don't I?"

"Of course, and your lifeblood is within me. It may help to have some familiarity when you first...drink I suppose," Jack said softly, running his hand up the side of Tessa's face. He smiled and brushed his lips against hers softly, watching her eyes as he smiled and moved his face away. "Thank you Tessa," He said softly, sincere gratitude filling his eyes. The very fact that he did not have to concern himself over killing her...again...relieved him greatly.

"You're welcome. Besides, don't tempt me." Tessa let out a light giggle, "leastwise, not more than you have already."
She wrapped her arms about Jack and kissed him on the cheek with a wink. While several of her prior notions were showing their merit, to her mild surprise she did not necessarily care for the ramifications either.

Jack chuckled and kissed Tessa's lips softly. He smiled into the kiss, pausing, before biting lightly at them. He lifted his gaze to Tessa's eyes with a light mischief in them. "Like that, you mean?" He asked teasingly. Secretly he knew Tessa would have to drink soon, or she would waste away, her immortality giving way to a brief mortality that would lead to death. He traced her temple with a finger before sliding it down her cheek softly, eyes looking into hers.

Tessa frowned as she realized her own suggestion had been turned against her, and she dropped her head slightly in defeat.
"You win," she sighed, "again it seems. That wasn't what I meant though."
She rose from the bed and made her way halfway to the balcony before it struck her and she very nearly doubled over her stomach, but caught herself on the doorframe.
"Oh..." she said after a moment, "that struck a lot faster than I thought it would..."

Hurrying over, Jack held Tessa's shoulder, lifting her slightly so that she did not have to hold herself up. His grip was soft, but solid. "You should be resting, you are weak," He said softly, his voice rich with the concern that had carried over from when Tessa had first suggested the idea. He looked her over, still finding the fact that she had no heartbeat strange to him, and he sighed, wiping his forehead with his sleeve. He was fairly certain he did nothing wrong, all he had to do was bite, he thought, but he couldn't help but run over the short list in his mind.

Tessa tried to laugh it off, but it came off as a mere breath and a sigh.
"You're right," she said after a second.
She picked herself up and made her way - remarkably slowly - to the bed and dropped into a seat there. With her head in her hand and her elbow on her knee she fought to regain her senses.
"How long was I out anyway?"

"A day and a half I reckon," Jack said, kneeling in front of her. His hand brushed her knee softly. "The court is probably furious by now," He muttered to himself, paling slightly at the thought of Felix before shaking it off with a sigh. "Don't worry about it. We can stay as long as you need rest," He said, not about to put his wife in risk merely to escape unpleasant situations.

"Jack," Tessa said simply, "resting takes just as long on the water as it does anywhere else, and besides I can travel the water easier than you can so what's the problem?"
She dropped her head against the bed and sighed, raising her hand to her forehead and closing her eyes.
"This will certainly take getting used to in any case."

"The availability of lives though, that is something the port provides," Jack said, moving to the bed so he was propped on one elbow, and facing Tessa. "You'll need it sooner or later, unless..." He trailed off, biting his words, and looked away for a moment. "Besides, there is secluded places on the island where we could go to if you become overwhelmed. There is not much escaping on a ship," He said. He touched her shoulder gently before standing and going to the wine bottle, taking a swig from the nearest of them.

Tessa sat up and stared at Jack in disbelief. She lowered her arm and shook her head, slightly downed by her options.
"Jack, I realize it's going to be a necessity sooner or later but I'd rather not have to take it on the humanoid populace, please?"
Certainly not hurt in any way but also not optimistic about her situation, Tessa sighed and shifted herself back against the wall, looking again up to Jack.

"You are headed there if you don't take what is offered to you," Jack challenged softly, looking back to Tessa. "Thirst is unforgiving, and you saw what happened when I obstained too long," He hated bringing up the memory of when Erathis was aboard the ship the first time, but he hoped it would sway Tessa into saving herself. He sat in his chair and drank from his bottle again.
