So cold...
All the same, all about me.
The wit, the wisdom.
Here I stand,
Here I live...
The truth of a revelation, frozen in fear.
Slowly dying...

Tessa sighed, unable to argue against Jack's reasoning, but all the same what of himself? She looked up to him with a twinge of regret in her eyes, but nodded her head all the same.
"Alright, you win." She sighed, "What would you suggest then?"

Of Blood and Gold I know,
of the freedom of a ship,
and only the wind holding you back.

"It is customary for the created vampire to drink from the creator, as to regain the vitality of their more mortal life," Jack said, swirling his wine in his glass. "And then perhaps I will consult with the other vampires in the courts. Certainly there must be more than just Felix," He said. "Alcohol seems to help however, and wine and blood mix very well," The ease that he spoke of this was abnormal, but natural to him, as if he were a doctor speaking of anatomical parts.

Tessa remained silent for several seconds before sighing and dropping her head into her hand.
"Don't get me wrong Jack. I'm still fairly shy in the manner of alcohol, as I'm sure you're aware, but..." she gave up, "you win. Come over here... as much as it kills me to think of the irony." She added after a moment.

Jack chuckled and downed the rest of his glass before obliging Tessa and sitting next to her, looking towards her expectantly, neckcloth pulled away and off, now resting in one hand. "It'll soon merely be something you live with, and deal with accordingly," He said softly. "Now I suppose we'll have to work through it together though," He said.

"Don't tell me you hadn't thought ahead?" Tessa inquired, "That's not like you Jack."
She lowered her head a moment, still barely able to cope with what she herself had to do merely to sustain her own life at that point. She knew the necessity though, and it had driven her someway into a manner of sorrow for him to have put up with it so long.
"Is it necessarily wrong for me to have a measure of regret that I have to do this, Jack?" She asked after a moment.

"Regret? There is not a moment when regret is not a factor in many vampire's lives," Jack said after a moment of thought. "But does the sheep regret eating the grass? Does the lion regret eating the sheep?" He asked, taking her hand softly and turning it over in his hand, his fingers carefully holding hers.

Tessa thought it over for a moment and shook her head slightly.
"I don't think that quite counts if the lion doesn't love the sheep," she said with a slight laugh, turning to Jack, "but..."
She looked down to their hands intertwined within each other, her face dropping slightly in reminiscence.
"I'm sorry, I'm such a mess, aren't I?"

Jack sighed and kissed Tessa's cheek tenderly. "I just killed you Tessa. I think that is emotionally straining for all parties involved," He said gently. He let go of her hand and trailed his fingers up her arm and pressed two of them to her neck gently. "You are certainly taking it better than I am love," His words were soft, and almost chuckling.

"You can thank Ilyia for that," Tessa said after a moment of thought, "seems to be a frequent thing these days."
Despite her restraint she lifted a hand to Jack's and gripped him lightly by the wrist with a sigh. She turned over to him and gave into her need for blood, but with so near an extreme slow that it was beyond easy to tell her tentativeness in committing such an act. After enough blood had been taken to allow her some clarity of vision and thought she backed off and closed her eyes, immediately memorizing the taste and feel of it.
"Something I will certainly have to adjust to," she remarked after a second.

Jack eyes fluttered close in a morbid pleasure as Tessa drank, and when she finished he wordlessly wrapped his neckcloth around his wrist. His eyes opened and he looked over Tessa curiously. "Indeed," He said with a wry smile. "Better though, no?" He asked.

Tessa tried vainly several times to refute Jack's noticeable truth in his words, but for the second or two of simple sputters that resulted in her first few attempts she gave up not long after.
"Alright, you win." She said with a sigh, "It's just an odd feeling, to need something based on the suffering of others. I can't even explain..." She looked up to him with a depth in her eyes betraying as much thought as she had been through after the dream, "Have I ever told you much about my youth, Jack?"

"No," Jack said softly, looking down as he remembered the dream all too well. He hadn't known that she had a brother, but then again, what did she know of his childhood? The pirate looked up to Tessa, curiosity in his eyes as he looked into hers. He tilted his head ever so slightly while his hand played with the cloth around his wrist. Cold had taken over the wound, and blood had stopped seeping from it. No pain had entered it yet though.

Tessa opened her mouth to ask if Jack was interested in hearing but upon seeing the look he had given her she found no need to ask. Instead she rolled her shoulders back slightly and looked up to the ceiling in thought. Deciding the best route to take her explanation she tilted her head back down to Jack and nodded slightly.
"My mother always loved the ways of the waters. Calm, peaceful, typically quiet. She was the same way until father died, and at the age of twelve I got myself wrapped up in the life of a priestess." She looked down at herself with an amused laugh, "Imagine that, a priestess winding up a generally-viewed unholy creature. But anyway, I always wanted to know why mother was so upset, why Randall could never get over himself. Looking back, it's perhaps the last mystery of origins I have left to figure. Randall never spoke well of father, I might put it that way. I don't remember much of him at all, but he didn't seem near as awful as my brother makes him sound. Then again, I think the both of us are enough to prove you can't take a first glance and expect it to last, can you?"

"Aye, Jack said quietly, in a shallow, backround train of thought. "It seems that for fathers and sons to not care for the other is a growing trend nowadays," He murmured. "Is there no way of contacting your brother?" Jack asked. "Or is he..." Jack trailed off, his gaze flickering away as he didn't dare voice the rest of the sentence. He did not want to upset his wife, especially so soon after her change, but he also didn't know. Not knowing made him want to know.

Tessa Cortez

The fear of the many,
the price of the truth.

"I can only assume the worst," Tessa said softly, "the nature of a moon dream is elusive at best, and well... that it recalled a time in which he mentioned before he died being his time to convey his message I doubt he lived for so long as two minutes after I woke up."
She leaned forward and sighed, her mind working at a pace she had yet to adjust to and it was giving her a slight headache, to which she dropped back onto the bed and closed her eyes.
"You've seen more of the world than I have Jack... is it always so harsh?"

The Wisdom of the Slaughter,
forever drowning...
