Morningpaw was too weary to answer verbally so instead she thought, I am still grateful, Sundapple. Then the young she-cat's eyes began to close again, even though she knew she wouldn't be able to completely fall asleep. Despite how tired she was and Sundapple's warmth she couldn't get the kit off her mind. He had been alive earlier, but she was worried for him now. He was still unconscious, then. . . That made her think he might not recover. He will, she silently assured herself. But she wasn't sure if she believed it.

Lightstar glanced toward the kit. He wasn't ready to leave, and he wouldn't be a few days. If he's fine by the gathering we should be able to find his clan, and if he is dead by then we did all we could, and that's what's important. Lightstar thought to herself.
