The fact that suicide, well attempted suicide anyway, is illegal baffles me in the first place.
Now I find it understandable as far as someone having a chemical imbalance or mental disorder where they are a danger to themselves or others around them. However is this always the case?

If someone is in such despair and have often contemplated it thoroughly, should it be allowed? I feel Physicians are in a place where they can offer a mental evaluation beforehand as well, and assist in a painless way to go peacefully.

Should Physician Assisted Suicide be legal?

Please don't use religion to defend your case here, I will not take you seriously and you will be ignored. I rather scientific or legal discussion.

These type of laws do not exist everywhere, Ireland repealed it's laws in 1993, due to evolving theories on morality. The more time passes the more scientific we see the world, so please leave your god out of the posts. However if you'd like to discuss how a religion has demonized the idea about suicide as you'd be sent to hell, or as self-sacrifice as an act of purity and such, please go right ahead.

I understand morality is a big issue here, but I want to know more about the legality of it. Let's not go back to ancient Greece, who would deny the corpse a proper funeral if they offed themselves.

Why should it be illegal for this to occur?

I don't really know. One one hand, it seems like the right thing to do. But on the other hand, it almost feels like murder. But suicide can be seen as murder to begin with. Also, some people who have serious issues seem to want to go in a painful manner. Would the physicians comply with these people, or just send them off peacefully like everyone else?

No, assisted suicide would be stupid. For one thing, the death under those circumstances aren't natural.
Anything that the likes of Karkovian say promoting that is euphemism.
