The GFG Mag is designed to give users a chance to not only write articles on all things fashion-related on Gaia, but 'real life' articles as well. We are also planning on opening an ads section where you can pay a small price to advertise for your shop/quest/anything else. So grab your keyboard and get ready to write, or - be ready to read when each new issue comes out!

 6/11/05 - So, setting up version 9.6trillion of the thread, hopefully Ill have it done tonight, and I can move onto some issue planning x.x;;
7/8/05 - o.O;; After a lot of thinking, I realized that stalling will only increase the amount of work we have to do for this thing. The 5th issue is going to be a "catch-up" issue. We're going to have to cover everything from March to June, as July isnt over yet, and usually the month we produce the mag in comes out in the next month. More details are coming as soon as I finish re-writing all the descriptions for the articles, as my laptop crashed and I lost them all gonk
More Details: Yes, this issue is going to be hella work. The one thing I will do though is gather all the images needed for the new store items and new donation items editorials, unless the author wants to get them theirself. These articles will be split up into 4 smaller sections, one for each month we've missed, with one user on each section. More information to come as needed.
12/21/05 - Change of plans guys. The GFG Magazine will now be produced quaterly (every three months) starting with the first new issue in March of 2006, which will cover January, February and March of 2006.A new skeleton will go up shortly, once I assess changes that are needed. I will be doing the catch up issue from March 2005 to December 2005 in the meantime, with anyone that is willing to help. All other rules and procedures will still apply unless otherwise stated.
3/31/07 - Changes have been made to the magazine's skeleton/issue guideline..

 MANDATORY PROCEDURE - NEW
__It is mandatory that all writers fill out a new writer form the first time they write an issue for the magazine, even if you've written for us in past issues. Once you've filled that out, you can use the returning writers form in the issues to come. AGAIN: EVERYONE must do this the first time around from Issue 5 ONWARDS.
General Rules:
1] Only ask to write an article if you are SURE that you can get it in - try and be responsible enough to have it done by the due date. If there is any reason that you cannot get the article in, please, alert Renaela so someone else can cover the article.
2] Only ask to write at most 2 articles. If after the date assigned to the last day to claim articles, there is an article left without an author that you would like to write, you can volunteer - ONLY if one of your already assigned articles has been turned in.
3] For any help on how to put pictures or links in, please read below, or contact Zoologist, or Renaela.
4] Your article may be edited to fix spelling, punctuation and grammar. It's not that we don't love you, we just want to look as professional as possible, since many Gaians are going to be reading this magazine.
5] Just because you write an article one issue, does not mean you will always write it. In the future we will open up places for dedicated writers to have their own column, but for now, stick to what we've got.
6] After experiences with the past few issues, if you cannot get an article in and you DO NOT TELL US ahead of time, you will be suspended from writing another article for at least one issue of the mag. We cannot have people being irresponsible, as it leaves us with a ton of work to do at the end of the month to pull it all together.
FAQ:
Submitting a Text Article:
1] Copy the article from where you have it, and paste it into a PM to Zoologist.
2] If you prefer to do it over AIM, IM Renaela and send her the file with your article.
3] If you prefer to use Yahoo Instant Messenger, IM dkuraniumchick87 and send the file that contains your article.
Submitting a Text Article with IMAGES:
1] Insert both the text and images (or links/URLs) into the PM
*** If you are UNSURE about how to put images into a pm, please either a) PM Zoologist or Renaela for an explanation, b) send the images over a messenger service, or c) Read the 4th post down .
What if I have an idea for an article not listed?
- As long as you either clear it with Zoo or I, go ahead and write it. You MUST clear it with us. If you'd rather give us the idea and have someone else write it that is fine as well.
Do you take poetry, drawings, etc?
- Yes! PM your poem/drawing to Zoologist, and we will feature them. However, we will not feature multiple poems or drawings in the same issue.

For the time being, all "General" articles will be written by Renaela/Zoologist.
Letter from the Editors:
Written by whoever writes the mag. Just a nice recap of working on this issue.
Guild News:
Basically a re-cap of any guild activities that have taken place since the last update, as well as anything new.
General Site News:
A basic editorial on anything new on the site since the last issue was done. It can include events that happened to people, site updates, new features and games, and anything else appropriate.
[Not so sure about this anymore because of the Gaia Newsletter they have now.]

 articles we must have:
SO - WHAT'S NEW?: An editorial about the new store items that have been released since the last magazine (if you are writing for winter, you don't know what will be released two months ahead, so you would be writing for the fall items, etc.) Be sure to include pictures of the items, as well as where you can find them, and how much they cost. Write about how you and other users seem to feel about the items. If possible, include pictures of avatars wearing the new items.
LOOKING GOOD ON EMPTY POCKETS: AKA, How to look good with a budget of about 7,000 gold, for both a male and female avatar. Include items used, what stores they are in, the cost, etc. You should be able to answer questions like "Why this outfit works".. You may also suggest a few expensive items (~5-10k) that would look good with the outfits pictured.
YOU'VE GOT TO COLLECT THIS: A piece that covers the donation items/monthly collectibles, ideally one article for each month. Again, since you cannot tell ahead of time what will be relased, you have to write for a previously released item (current, though, so don't go writing for anything pre-2007.)
optional:
THE MUST-HAVES: This is an article for picking 1-3 store items that you feel everyone should have in their inventory! New store items aren't always regularly released, so these items do *not* have to be recent releases. Explain why it's such a mandatory item, and of course: a picture of the item, how much it is, where you can find it, etc.
AVOID THIS FAUX PAS: If there are certain items you hate, that you just LOVE to complain about, this article is for you! Pick 2-4 items you dislike, and dish to the reader about why you don't like the items, whilst giving some alternatives to those ugly, shameful pixels. Provide a picture, and include prices and locations.
HOW TO DRESS..: This is an article for all those people who want to dress for X Gaian Event (holidays, new years, birthdays, etc.), but don't know how! Pick an occasion, any occasion, and create an example avatar for those good people reading nervously at home. Write a short, creative description of the avatar and tell us why it works for that occasion. Include pictures, prices, and locations.
Special Editorials: Articles for this can only be written, obviously, when there is an event happening on Gaia (Christmas, Anniversary Ball,..) Whoever decides to cover the event must provide a full story on what happened each day of the event, what items were given out if there were any, and any other necessary information. It would also be a special touch to include avatars you saw and liked that were especially dressed well and fit the event.

BEING PRETTY THROUGH THE SEASONS: Pick 1-3 beauty products for the season that you think everyone should give a try. Include pictures, and try to give an example of what the items cost and where people can get them. (For an example: a great lotion for the summer or winter, etc..)
THIS NEW THING: What is that new, special something, that everyone just seems to want to have? Love it or hate it, this editorial serves to document all the current fads. Make sure you include pictures, so that everyone has an image of what you're choosing to discuss. If possible, include stores that one could buy these items.
HOW TO DRESS..: The 'real-life' version of the Gaian article, and maybe a bit easier to write for. Pick a gender (or both - or don't, whatever floats your boat), then pick an occasion, and put together an example outfit (with pictures from online sites, or pictures you took yourself). Provide commentary on why the outfit you chose fits the occasion, and give people a rough estimate of what the outfit would cost them, or where they could purchase the items pictured (doesn't have to be exact).
LOOKING GOOD ON EMPTY POCKETS: Again, the RL version. You've got $150 dollars to create a stylish outfit for a female, and $150 to create a stylish outfit for a male. Give a description of the items, and tell why each outfit works. If you can, include prices and stores where these items can be purchased.
Special Mini-series:
DRESSING WITH THE TIMES: Pick a fashion decade, and include not only what was happening with clothes, but - if you want to - other trends of the time. Try to include either an actual picture of someone appropriately dressed for whatever fashion decade, or put together an example outfit. Try to include pictures and just be creative and have fun.
Here are some years you can choose from, but I think some fashions, like the whole Victorian era, span a couple: 1830-1900, for example.
...1800, 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940, 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990...
If you choose something not quite on that timeline, be sure before writing the article that you will be able to produce pictures, and write more than just a few short sentences.
