Roleplayers: Alex Eternal & Roxy_roxanna2 Area: The Forest Herla Involved: Shego & Damian The day was distastefully sunny and bright, birds were singing, yearlings frolicking, and Shego had decided to move deeper into the forest to avoid it all. A few slams of her hooves against a tree had silenced the chirping birds and allowed her a moment of peace and quiet. She took a slow deep breath and shook her head, there that was a bit better. Truth be told she knew her foul mood was a near constant thing lately guilt ate at her and then anger ate at that guilt.
She paused to n** and graze at the fresh growing grass, at least in the Hartlands food was plentiful. She snorted in annoyance, now she had to look for petty things to show gratitude for.

The sound of hooves being banged against a tree was easily heard for quite some distance, and as he had yet to make any type of deal today, he let it attract his attention. Though the sound echoed through the trees, his ears were good, and it didn't take him long to follow it back to it's source. Looking over the other herla for a moment, he made a few notes in his mind about what he might expect from meeting her. Neat, quiet, perhaps angry. Things he could work with if he found the right angle. Then again, anger was a hard emotion to plan for. It could work for or against him.
Deciding not to waste any more time on things he couldn't plan for, he took a couple steps forward, while remaining in a position, from which he could quickly duck behind a tree, he cleared his throat. "Good day Madame. You seem to be distressed. Anything I can do to help?"

Shego jerked her head up her long dark mane falling in a wave to conceal half her face as she eyed the intruder on her moment of solitude. That was her other issue with the hartlands, so many other herla about.
"Who in the..." She raised a brow and quickly scanned him over, his pelt was such a vivid shade of red it reminded her of fresh smeared blood. She took in the dapper vest, dark empty eyes and horns and debated with herself if she was in the mood for conversation.
"I'm no damsel in distress so if your looking for an easy target beat it." She finally sneered.

"Haha, who like an easy target? I much prefer a challenge. So much more fun." Damian said, stepping forward and beginning to circle around the outside of the little clearing. Then, feigning a sigh, he add, "But, as it were I have not come looking for a fight. Only a touch of conversation, and maybe some directions to the nearest town. I fear to say, as often as I travel I have never been good at finding where I am going."
While he moves, he makes a point not spend to much time looking in her direction, not wanting to seem like he was paying her to much attention. Instead his eyes scanned the area, looking for every possible escape route, in case the situation turned bad.

She tensed a little, if he wanted a challenge she'd give him one -- but all too soon he sighed and asked instead for directions. She blew an errant strand of hair back and eyed him as he circled.
"If your looking for other herla you'll want to head back out to the sparser areas of the forest or down near the meadow or delta. I'd stay away from the meadow unless your ready to deal with the court..." She gave a little snort to show what she thought of that.
A court, and yet remarkably here in this place of peace it worked somehow the queen and her herd managed to keep peace. She felt irritated and slightly bitter that here peace seemed so simply to obtain, but then again she'd heard of the wars with talons that had earned them that peace. If only she had the forces to gather against the ghavials then maybe she could return home.
"But all in all wandering around here isn't going to be any great danger to you unless you go too far and end up in wolf territory or towards the swamps...but trust me you'd have to be an idiot not to recognize the change in terrain."

It was east to tell what she thought of the courts, which worked well for him, since he wasn't to fond of those type himself. "Courts, huh? How dull. Peace is bad for my business. Though so is being eaten by wolves. My, what is a herla to do? Are there herla in the swamps? They might be more my type?" he asked.
Having completed a full circle, he stopped himself by what he thought would prove to be the best exit, then nonchalantly turned to face her, deliberately taking a moment to look her over. She was attractive in her own way, but it wasn't clear if pride was one of her sins. Wrath seemed more likely. Something in her past had mad her angry, and she hadn't forgiven it yet. Might be able to work with that.

Wrath indeed, but today the green spitfire was burning a little cooler at least for now her hooves weren't burning patches into the ground. When she got really worked up it was best if she was alone so the only destruction she could wreak would be on the trees.
"and what precisely is that business?" She looked him over again intrigued, the herla about here seemed to all have intriguing roles since they lives in relative peace. She'd seen mothers, explorers, artists, and more. Things she would never dream of doing because in her heart she was a fighter. The thought of teaching others her skills had crossed her mind, but she was still too loathe to interact much with anyone.
"The swamps don't have many herla...the deeper you get the more likely you are to die and most tend to avoid that." Her voice was half warning half longing, in the deepest part of the swamps in the power plant was the home and family she had abandoned.

The sound of longing in her voice was not lost on him. Either a death wish, or something else. Hard to say which. But she had asked a him a question, and it would be rude for him not to answer. "I trade commodities and services for the most part, though I do the occasional odd job as well, so long as the pay is right. And grant the occasional wish. I guess you could say I am a jack of all trades. Mind you, the name is Damian, not Jack." His empty eyes added a wink with the last line.
The swamps sounded tempting. Not many people around, so they were more likely to need more. Though they could also be self sufficient. Then again, everybody needs something.

"Shego..." She said by way of rather late introduction, not that her own rudeness ever bothered her in the slightest. Pleasantries she had found were dandy for those who had the casual time and inclination where she had been raised there had been neither.
"So you run errands and grant wishes eh? Seems either incredibly lofty or rather thankless, I imagine you charge a high enough price to make it the former? What is it a herla like you requests in trade for such service?" If she was going to teach anyone to defend themselves what could she get out of them? This buck might know of things to ask for that she wouldn't fathom. All she wanted was the extermination of the Ghavials, food and shelter she could manage for herself just fine.

With a deep bow, he said, "A wonderful name. Strong but simple. Shego. Wonderful indeed." Standing back up he took his best smile, mixing truth and misinformation in his mind to craft an answer for her question. "It depends really. On what I need at the time, on what they have to offer, and what they ask. A simple meal isn't worth much, but an lost love returned, or an enemy defeated, such things come with a price. I tend to play my prices by ear."
The statement was true, if perhaps it left the question partially unanswered, but that was always the best way to set a hook. After all, it never paid to try to move to fast I. such matters. And even if he didn't get his goal, he might be able to get so.ethk g else of use.

"Well I'm sure you'll have much luck with your trade in the hartlands I've been observing the herla and find that most of these harts and hinds have ample desires beyond the basic needs of food and shelter. Apparently once one has adequate meals and safety it's easier to form longings for more sentimental and material goods." She didn't see the point exactly, beyond what proved basic in functionality.
Her covering for example had been a labor that she and her siblings had shared making something to protect their hides from the burning almost acidic waters surrounding their home. The Ghavials had thick enough skin not to mind, luckily her hodgepodge patterned fabric provided her the same comfort. She'd seen herla with more decorative trappings though, they wanted to...look pretty. Ridiculous.
"So you find your trade fulfilling? Or are you more of a family buck?" She looked him up and down, he didn't look like a male pining for his mate or eager to return to his fawns.

Finding himself agreeing with her in some aspects, he nodded a long with her words. "Everybody wants something. And many of them who live a soft life think that want is a need. Makes them easy to bargain with. Gives me the position of strength as it where." A smile crossed his lips with this thought.
But then the conversation turned to family. While the smile never left his lips, his dark eyes seemed to lose a bit of there depth, as he thought back to the only family he had ever known. A father who taught him that he should never trust anyone, and that all people were fools. Lessons he had learned well.
"No, I have no family, and no home to call mine. I prefer to travel as it were. Seems easier when everyday is a new adventure. After all, that is how I get to meet lovely ladies such as yourself. Do you have much family?"

She watched the slight smile, the way he spoke, yes this one could certainly be a danger, but she doubted that she was the one in trouble. It was the innocent and naive he probably preyed on and she was neither, nor did she care much for either herself.
"Hmm, some are smart enough to know they can't have what they want and there's no use dying trying to get it." She huffed and then almost cringed at the way he responded to her question about family. She with held the flinch however and instead kicked the ground trying to reign in her anger and guilt.
"No, it's better not to entangle yourself. Family isn't of much use to me I'm busy looking after my own hide can't be losing sleep about someone elses." Which was exactly why she'd left her useless brothers behind in the powerplant and escaped with her life, if they were dead it wasn't her fault.
"As for homes...well home is wherever you roam, the entire concept is overrated." She gave a snort.

The spot of anger wasn't missed, though he was careful not to react to it. Instead he made a mental note in a file labelled 'Shego'. Such information might come in hand some day. Always hard to tell this early into things. The way she talked about family left him to believe there might be more to things than what she had said, bit it was best not to pry into a tender subject like that. Not yet anyway.
"The stars as my ceiling, and the earth as my bed, what better home could a hart want? Matter of fact, the air is warm, and dusk isn't to far off, I might just bed down here for the night, assuming you don't mind. If you want to stay, I promise not to try anything funny. Traveling alone is fun, but it has been a while since I had a chance at some decent conversation." He said, turning to watch the sky over head.
Time was on his side, so he saw no reason not to take it. Give it a while and see how things played out. This odd hind certain my intrigued him.

Shego rolled her eyes at the poetic sound of his words, and then he mentioned bedding down and she was forced to debate. She certainly wasn't worried about him trying anything funny, she knew she could handle herself well enough. She was more concerned about herself, she didn't want to get chummy or soft. Yet, he was fit enough company for conversation and she hadn't had any of that in...a very long time.
Her throat felt a bit tight just from the slight talk they'd had if she didn't start socializing a bit more her tongue would stiffen and her brain would rot. Hmph!
"I don't mind." She finally stated and then just to prove it to herself she moved to lay down her legs tucked under her and her dark mane pooling over her shoulder as she looked up at him.
"So...tell me what was it your last...customer? wanted from you and what did you charge to obtain it?" She did admit to some slight intrigue over his trade.
