Kaleb managed to smile back, somewhat reassured by Luxord's words. He sighed a little. "I-I'm just not used to visitors, let alone two in one day. If I had known you would be dropping in, I would have picked up something else to drink from the grocery store."
He also would have put away some of his textbooks. There would barely be room to seat three people in his small livingroom on the threadbare couch and chair, between the tall stacks of magical tomes sitting here and there.

Demyx blinked over at Kaleb, a single ear twitching.
"I dunno why I even picked that store to go into. I guess it was just the closest escape from the heat. But I'm glad I did, cause I've had a lot o fun!"

"Perhaps if you werent so much of a bookworm?" His tone was joking as he smiled at Kaleb. "I'm sure Demyx would be happy to provide you with company more should you wish it, Right?" he looked down at the one in his arms.

"I-I guess," Kaleb replied to Luxord, with a sheepish smile. "I'm usually too busy working to even think about having guests over."

"Uh huh! I'd visit you lots...if you wanted me to Kaleb..."
Demyx grinned over at Kaleb, snuggling Luxord once more.
"I could even try to help you with your work...I'd be careful! Promise!"

"You shouldnt work all the time, it is bad for you." He chuckled and petted Demyx. "Having friends is better .. it means you have people you can talk to."

Kaleb looked vaguely alarmed at the thought of Demyx helping him out with his work. It's not that he didn't trust the other, it was that he had no idea what Luxord would do if the musician came back with tentacles for hair or something if his spells failed.
Luxord's words gave him something else to think about. It had been nice talking with Demyx that afternoon, and watching the affectionate gestures between the two of them made him feel a little wistful. As it was, he found he could only nod in response.

The musician purred at the petting, ears flattening back at the motion to allow Luxord to pet those too.
"Yeah Kaleb! I'm sure lotsa people would wnat to be your friend after meeting you! You just gotta get out and stuff..."

He scratched the other's ears as he was presented with the oppertunity.
"Yes, being a hermit is never fun." He grinned at Kaleb. "I am sure Demyx could drag you around to meet people. I have seem many wandering about."

Kaleb blinked and bit his lip, fighting back an unexpected urge to giggle at the mental image of himself living a hermit's life in a little hut in the middle of the woods. "I-I wouldn't want to meet too many new people," he said with a bit of a lingering smile, "or at least not too many people all at once. I would be nervous."

Demyx grinned, tail swishing around a bit.
"I wanna meet em too, so...we could do it together? Like an adventure! Kinda."

"See, there. Problem solved." He smirked. "Demyx can find people and drag you out to meet them one at a time. That way there arent too many at once."

Kaleb smiled, it looked like the problem had been solved. But then his smile fell a bit, replaced by his default nervous expression. "We're not going on an adventure like that today... Are we?"
Of course, saying something and doing something were two completely different things, and the kid had only just realized what he had gotten himself into.

He looked down at Demyx then shook his head before looking back at Kaleb. "I think Kaleb has had enough excitement for one day." He ruffled the musician's hair. "How about you let him rest for the day and take him on an adventure later?"
