So cold...
All the same, all about me.
The wit, the wisdom.
Here I stand,
Here I live...
The truth of a revelation, frozen in fear.
Slowly dying...

"As you said, Jack... the ship will not sail alone, nor can you with only it for company. I will return as soon as I am finished."
Tessa held no room for mercy in her mind at that particular moment, and her face showed clear enough how uninterested she was in Jack's personal approach as she took off in a dead sprint towards the dais. The same place where it had begun, and the only place she knew for certain she would find answers.
"I'm not finished yet, A'isha..." she said through gritted teeth.

Jack grinned and ascended to his ship, the crew gawking at him. "Gentlemen, I have taken control of my ship," He said, and the crew still stared before Jack gave an order. "All hands to stations! Coax some wind into these sails,"

"Bearings...Captain?" A man, short and thick in stature asked. Jack gave him a strange look. "Michael Porter sir," He introduced himself.

"Mr. Porter, chart a course for Isle de Kanta," Jack said, before listening to the story of his ship for the last couple hundred years, while chuckling about rumors said about him.

A'isha sat at the head of the table on an ivory cushion, and returned the toast someone had proposed. The success of Tessa and Jack had spread fast through fate, and A'isha had known of it as soon as Isobel's presence had been extinguished. The dancer's guild had quickly arranged a feast, and now dancers weaving the elements, magic, illusions, or merely dancing filled the diases, along with the pounding rhythm of music that filled the air.

Tessa all but burst in, eyes quickly settling on A'isha. Her breathing was heavy, though by her facial expression one could not tell by rage or exhaustion from the run there. She stiffened slightly at the surroundings, but her glare never once removed itself from A'isha's figure.
"What is the meaning of all this?!" She demanded, "I came looking for my mother, and was led not only away from, but into the folds of death itself!"
Her hand flew to Seriel at her side, though she did have the presence of mind not to draw immediately. The weapon glowed intensely, and the slightest hint of inward turmoil showed on the Half-Elf's face.
"You had best explain yourself," she said flatly.

"I cannot explain what fate wished to reveal to you," A'isha said over the sudden silence. "I am no wielder of fate, merely its messenger. Do not be foolish," She took a drink of wine and set down the goblet. "I would not deceive you Tessa, I have no need to," The Naga stood and went over to her. "I have seen nothing of your mother, why would I keep that information from you? Surely not to protect you," She said.

Tessa began to shake, but Seriel's glowing began to resonate enough energy that the blade itself seemed to hum in its sheath. The Half-Elf struggled to calm, and closed her eyes in the effort.
"I did not come all this way to have my life diverted without due time, A'isha... I want to know what happened to my mother, and I will have it confirmed before I leave in the morning. It's been over a week, and the most that's been said is that which I already knew."
Her mind throbbed, her anger quickly peaking in her subconscious. If for no better reason than to vent her frustrations, she held a hand behind her and released a long blast of water, rushing out nearly faster than could be seen by the human eye.
"If what you say is true..." she panted, "I ask again; what happened to her? Is she alive or not, even?"

"I do not know!" A'isha's voice rose sharply, and she twisted away from the elf. "And it would do you best not to make demands you are in no position to make," She took a step towards a guard who had raised a throwing knife. Calmly, the Naga lowered the Python's arm.

"You have stirred the waters of fate. Even now they course through me, clouding my thoughts, and showing me fates of others, pasts of others, presents of others, I can see nothing. The Sinchi only causes me pain," The Naga looked around at the other Serpiente, giving her privacy from their pitied looks by looking at one another.

"The last I have seen of her was before you arrived here was her dancing, a moon dance, one that you may be familiar with," A'isha said after a moment, quietly.

Tessa blinked in surprise, closing her eyes and nodding slightly. Seriel's light dimmed at her side, and her head dropped against her chest in shame.
"I... I understand," she said in a whisper, "I am sorry, I did not mean to offend."
A small blue shine erupted from within her fist at her side, and after a moment she held it to her own inspection, a thoroughly frozen jewel in her grip. She looked up again to A'isha, her perplexed face showing equal regret.
"If it's not too much to ask... how is it that I have been led into this fate in the mountains? Do you know this, A'isha?"

"You were chosen for great things, Tessa Orinae," A'isha said kindly, stepping towards her with grace. "The Mistress of Hell had never been so challenged before, and you are set apart by who you carry. Yes, I know of the Sisterhood, fate has mentioned them in passing," A'isha said. "Other than this, I know nothing more,"

Tessa pondered what had been offered her for a long moment, and after a dreadfully long hesitation she lifted her hand, offering the iced jewel to A'isha.
"I wish I could find a means to do this on my own, but it seems I am chosen for more than I would have liked. If you see my mother again, could you give this to her?"
She drew it up her fingers to hold between the tips in offering.
"Perhaps someday I might repay you, but that all depends on if I can return."

A'isha took the jewel wordlessly and stowed it away. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "A storm is brewing on the horizon, be sure to be ready when it comes," She said before going back to her spot at the head of the table. She took another drink of wine, not taking her eyes off of Tessa.

Tessa sighed, lowering her head slightly as she turned to the way she had come in, stepping back to the opening. With her hand at the side of the entrance, she turned back once more.
"Thank you," she said again, before turning and leaving.
She kept her pace down to a jog, but hurried back to the Scarlet Duchess all the same. She rushed water through herself occasionally to keep herself from losing any awareness, as her injury had not fully recovered, however well on its way.

Illumine watched through a summoned crystal Tessa's every movement, smiling at several points.
"That she can be so naive as to turn against her initial will at but a single reason... and not only, but to provide the nearby whereabouts of a long-lost mother. Today is a fine day, indeed."
A servant stepped into the room, looking to the pile that had once been Jaras and shuddering.
"Samuel Forsine, reporting m-ma'am..."
Illumine sighed, "My name is Illumine... speak, Samuel."
"Y-yes, Illumine. Tessa is heading to sea, by way of the Scarlet Duchess... with all due respect, is it wise to pursue one wielding a goddess of the sea on her own arena?"
"I have my means, Samuel, rest assured," Illumine laughed quietly, "a crew without a ship is just as sunk as a ship without a crew. Even more to the point, the wreckage at the loss of the sea itself would prove interesting, wouldn't you say?"
"W-what?" Samuel gasped, "Surely you don't mean to-"
"Silence, lest you meet the same fate as this one here," Illumine warned, "now go."

Jack looked through his looking glass and smiled. "Weigh anchor!" He shouted, and smiled as he heard his order echoed by Mr. Porter. "Tessa," Jack said with a grin. He headed to the dock below and held a hand to her so that she could come aboard and let it be known to the crew she was under his protection. The scarlet sails behind him fell open, and the ship was jostled slightly.

Tessa hurried her pace, closing quickly on Jack and the Scarlet Duchess. The moment she cleared the plank and boarded, Jack's hand in her own a burst of water from beneath sent the makeshift bridge flipping onto the deck. She looked around for a moment, tilting her head with a curious stare about her. She smiled innocently.
"What? Is a lady not allowed a scenic entrance?"
She turned to Jack, giving a slight nod of appreciation for him waiting.
"We should be going, but where?"

"Isle de Kanta," Jack said, walking to the wheel, and he touched the dark wood knobs tenderly with a grin. "How many times I thought I would not feel you beneath me again..." Jack said, spinning the wheel and steering her out of port. "Take it from here Mr. Porter," He said before going to Tessa, and indicating the sea. "This, is where I belong, not a prison of sand," He whispered in her ear, covering her hand with his own.

"So I see," Tessa said with a giggle, "I belong anywhere excitement is to be found, be it land, sea... with a strangely honest man of a pirate, evidently."
She laughed again, but Seriel glowed slightly at her side and she frowned.
"Oh, no... Jack, I... need to tell you something."
She almost disappeared below deck, but she turned and called back hurriedly, "Something that in no way is good news."
She vanished behind the doorway, shaking slightly and gasping for breath.
