Amadeus grew antsy, not wanting to stay in the Tavern for too much longer with Rien and Christophe for fear that they would jump him again for calling them names. He nodded as Nolah emerged from behind the counter, finding humor in the way she appeared to be drowning in his clothes. He could tell that she was self-conscious, but desperate times call for desperate measures. She'd have to make due what she had, unfortunately.
He edged toward the door. "Well, if I'm not needed anymore, I'll be outside waiting for you all to get your acts together. And don't give me that look, because I ain't gonna take off. One Theonidas figures out what's going on, I'm going to be one of the first people he's gonna come after. So, what good is it going to do for me to run away?"
He opened the door, pushing roughly past Rien and exiting the Tavern, pulling his overshirt closer around him, shuddering at the cold and blowing a sigh out, watching his breath fog out in front of him. He HATED the cold. But it was the lessor of two evils. Outside in the dark and cold by himself or in a room full of people who wanted to kill him.

Nolah raised an eyebrow at him. He knew more than anyone about what was going on, better to talk to him than with Rien and Christophe, as much as she cared for them, they were both blinded by their hate. " I'll go wait outside too." She said and gave Christophe an quick peck on the cheek as she passed by, before disappearing out of the door.
She found Amadeus outside. He looked frozen and she felt guilty about taking his clothes. " Hi..." She muttered.

Amadeus certainly hadn't expected anyone to follow him outside, but it didn't bother him that someone had. He turned toward her, then shook his head. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver cigarette case. Pulling out a hand rolled cigarette, he lit the end and took in a deep drag, releasing the smoke out into the air so that it mixed with the visible vapor of his breath.
The girl muttered a small greeting, and Amadeus laughed, clearly amused. There was nothing funnier than people who attempted small talk. What were they going to talk about? The weather? Well, nice weather we're having. It hasn't quite reached glacial. How are the wife and kids? Oh, don't have any? well get to getting. Time's a'wastin'.
He took another drag of his cigarette, chuckling at little. "Hi," he said shortly. "Come out here to spit death threats? Blame me for turning your friend into the man that he's always been? Hm?"

" I wasn't there for any of that. All I know about you is that Christophe and Rien are ready to gut you but something tells me they'd have a hard time of it." She kicked at a loose stone, regretting her choice to not wear any shoes. " Anyways...you're the one who knows more about all of this than anyone else. I'm still in the dark for the most part as to what all of this means..." She was used to dealing with difficult people and she could tell that he would be a difficult one. "All I know is that Tank was still Tank...He was different, and I know he wanted to kill McKrea but he didn't, he just looked at me and decided not to I guess..."

This ellicted another half-hearted laugh from the angel/demon. "Tank? No. No...you have it all wrong. There never was a Tank. Theonidas was never Tank, and he never will be. Tank was a figment of a confused individual who knew enough to emulate the people around him in order to survive. He was just a role player. Playing a very complex game."
He finished the cigarette, and dropped it, raising his hand so that it floated gently to the ground in the same way an elevator glides down an elevator shaft. He sighed and then let it go, crushing it with a twist of his boot, destroying the weak orange glow.
"Are you warm enough?"
No, woah. Now where did that come from? He not a nice person. He was selfish, ruthless, rude, abnoxious, and evil. Not. Nice. Yes, he was the evil one. He wasn't supposed to know the meaning to kindess. He was supposed to laugh evilly and run about with a black cape, saying "muahahaha." There was no...niceness about that.
He growled something under his breath and crossed his arms over his chest, shivering. Stupid Dark Haven. What kind of ridiculous weather was this?

"I'm fine." She lied. " And Tank did exist. That was who he became and that was who we came to know, so he did exist even if he was someone else underneath it all. Thats' who he was to us, no matter who the ******** he is to you." She wanted to snap at him but held it in, her words came out with a controlled smoothness, something she'd taught herself over the years. "And it's always like this at night." She added as an afterthough, not aware that she'd caught one of his thoughts.

"Who he was to me..."
His voice trailed off, lost in a memory that wasn't quite all there. He remember everything about the way Theonidas had been. Theonidas had been his team mate, and brutal example of why not to mess with the Grim Reaper. Amadeus and Theonidas had been two of the most feared people in the world. Niether of them knew exactly who they were and why they were, but the truth was...they were. And Theonidas had gone astray.
Theonidas has malfunctioned some how. He'd gone haywire...and Amadeus had done the only thing he could thing of to do. He'd put the Grim Reaper out of commission. And now he needed him back for reasons that these people in this tiny town known as Dark Haven would never understand. For reasons that only he could understand. And once Theonidas was in full swing, it would be hard to convince him that what was past was past...
And Amadeus would be on his hit list, no doubt. You kill a man, and he'll be sore about it when he comes back into the world of the living. Amadeus shuddered again, this time not because of the cold.

" What's wrong?" Nolah questioned, stepping a bit closer. He was much bigger than herself and a good shield against the wind. " Are you afraid?" She asked softly, no malice in her voice at all.

Amadeus looked at her, surprised at the mere suggestion of being afraid. He opened his mouth to say something, but he couldn't find the words. He closed his mouth again. Well, was he afraid? Nothing was scarier than a killer out for revenge. He supposed he didn't really have a reason not to be frightened. He'd just thought... that if he brought Theonidas back to the scientists, they could lock him up, make sure that he didn't hurt Amadeus, who had a knack for only looking out for himself.
But now he had changed, and Amadeus had to admit, yes, he was scared. He'd never say that though, so he shook his head.
"Theonidas took off after he changed. After everything happened. And from what I gather, he went straight to you. He saved you, and even refrained from killing in front of you. Perhaps he thought you'd be scared? Either that or... I dunno...I just wonder why he didn't hurt you."

" I was so relieved that he'd showed up that I had no room to be scared...and you could see it in his face...he was fighting with himself about it." Nolah replied, pulling the jacket more tightly to herself. She shivered, ears twitching for a second. Her amber eyes caught the light of a street lamp.
" It was like...he didn't want to lose his humanity?" She tried to express what she felt. " I'm...sort of empathic. I get peoples feelings when I'm not careful, like if I'm around someone who's really depressed I'll feel the same way until I remind myself its not my emotion and I should let it go. Tank, pardon me, Theonidas, was scared, miserable...sometimes I catch people's thoughts without realizing it...I remember the word humanity..."

Amadeus remained silent for a long while, staring up into the sky like somehow it held the answers that he wanted. "Well, I gotta say...I guess Theonidas had it in him. That human side that I never really understood, because I don't have it. I don't. And I never really wanted it. How could I want something I never had? And...well if he found it, then...I guess he couldn't let go."
He turned to face her. "But when we find him again, he might not have it anymore. He might just... I dunno, got crazy. But...you're the only one he doesn't appear to want to kill...and you're not looking to kill him either. He might perceive you as a threat."

"Why would he see me as a threat?" She asked. " If he doesn't want to hurt me and I don't want to hurt him?" This Amadeus person was confusing to say the least. He was very good at hiding his emotions, if he had any at all. "He's still got to be in there somewhere if he came to save me in the first place...why didn't he go straight to Shi?"

"No. You don't understand, Cat-girl. He doesn't have a reason to see you as a threat. He just does. Everything's a threat to him. You see...he was programed to think that...everything is a sin. There is no such thing as a non-sinner. He's...a fallen angel who was led to believe that he has to purge the world of evil. In doing so...well, he commits sin himself. You know, that whole murder...thing." Amadeus sighed.
"And I'm with sin yes, but it's about revenge now. He's come for me first, and then he'll...go about whatever it is that he does. Erradicating people here and there. The Grim Reaper, I'm sure you've heard tales about him, kills without rhyme or reason. But what I can't understand is...ah nevermind. All we have to do is find him I guess. Rush in there all headstrong like we own the world. And Captain Obvious in there, with his fancy suit, and the Elf Princess, who thinks she invulernable...they'll be destroyed, you know."

" First off, stop calling me Cat-Girl and Kid. My name is NOLAH. And Captain Obvious is Christophe, someone whom I care deeply for, as I do Rien. If you're going with us you might as well use our names or I'll start calling you Jackass." She hissed before catching herself. Her eyes glittered angrily. " And yes I've heard of the Grim Reaper, fortunate enough not to have him kill anyone I knew or cared about. If you're so ******** confident that we'll all be destroyed then I'm going back in there and telling them that we need to plan things out first. Of course I'm sure that you 'know' it won't change matters."

Amadeus leaned in real close to Nolah, so that they were a mere inch or so apart. He smiled. "Go ahead. Call me Jackass. It won't hurt my feelings. Truth? I don't care what their names are. It's of absolutely no consequence to me. Want to call me names? Then go ahead. Watch me cry."
He moved away from her, off the sidewalk and to the middle of the street, spreading his wings out as a way of stretching them out. He turned around to face her, shaking his head, suddenly dead serious, though it was hard to tell if he was mocking her if he was honestly feeling the gravity of the situation. "Go ahead and tell them to plan. It'll help. Maybe not a lot, but it'll help nonetheless. There's not need to get snippy with me."
