I haven't read the books for a while, either. I should, just for shits and giggles. Although, I only own the first book of the Alanna books...

And, anything that isn't Alanna/George is blasphemy. PURE BLASPHEMY!

I always thought that Alanna/Jon was really cute too. But I'm really glad she ended up with George.

And power-hungry Slytherin loved those of great ambition...|>

---|I have to say, I rather liked Alanna/Jon, if only for the way they bickered all the time. They were two obviously strong-willed people who hated backing down on anything, which made for fascinating reading. ^.^|---

Finora Lupin
Honestly, coming from someone who obsessed over the Tortall series of Pierce's books, I never assumed that Roger/Thom and Roger/Alex existed. I just... took what was written as it was. I don't think I was really of the age that I begun to assume that such and such a man is homosexual with another man in books I read. I was very young. >< I was too busy squeeing over Alanna and George getting together.

I first read the Song of the Lioness series when I was in third grade. There was so much stuff I didn't understand... Every time I reread them I giggle a bit when I remember how naive I was. But it just goes to show that the books appeal to all ages.

Actually, Alanna got me out of a period of what I believe was depression. I went to a Catholic school, and when people found I had not been baptized (AKA was doomed to burn no matter what) I underwent terrible physical and emotional torment. Alanna stood up to her bullies; she taught them a lesson: she made me realize I could fight for myself.

Though if it makes you feel any better, Bloody, I went to a Catholic school too, and I'm Muslim. Not being baptised was the least of my worries.

Oh well I feel really stupid on the basis that I've never even heard of this series. I'll try to find it because if all of you love it then it must be good but I don't think it ever got really big here. Or it could have been before my time either one! ^.^

---|Before your time? Havoc, aren't you older than me?

Look at your local library. The series is called "The Song of the Lioness", and there are two more quartets that come afterwards that are also very worth reading. I'm almost certain that a library/bookstore in your area will have the books.

I keep thinking there are three quartets... and yet, I can only think of The Immortal Series and Protector of the Small. I must be including Song of the Lioness, and the final total is three quartets. *sigh*

I've never been to a Catholic school, thank God. My mother put me into a country public school, and now I'm more in the city and I'm like... "Yay! Life". I've never been forced into depression due to my school life. Mostly, it's been family life that gets me down, moreso.

---|There are only three series, then the Trickster duet. And then Beka Cooper, but that's set in the past.

Catholic schools aren't that bad. If nothing else, the ones I went to had high educational standards and was good to gifted/talented kids. I've liked all the schools I went to (except one, but I disliked it because it was small, not because it was a Catholic school), and I'm not even Christian.

I thought so. *sigh* I find it extremely amusing that I own all of those books. *pokes fingertips*

It's not that I wouldn't get along with this strictly Catholic people, because to think that all the people that go to Catholic schools are the same would be generalization. I don't think I'd be able to go to all those horribly depressing classes like Religion. I've heard, even from the greatest of Catholics, that that class is death.

Finora: Depends on the branch of catholicism. I know from experience that Roman Catholics tend to be very dark and depressing but the other branch offs are very alive and happy.
Shadow: well if im guessing right than you're in college? or pre-med? well im still in highschool. so no actually i think your all older than me.

Jay is the same age as me, and I'm seventeen. But yeah, she is in post-secondary education. Darn smarty pants... *shakes fist*

*nods* Kudos, Jay. Kudos.

And, I just realized that I'm eighteen. *sigh* It's so weird to get used to the constant changing of age.
