This week, I finally got the bulk of my digital pictures from the Philippines trip! (There had been some technical difficulties getting them from my prof's computer onto mine.)

This picture was taken by a friend- the hand holding the flower belongs to me. The stark black background was an unexpected effect of the macro setting, but I'm rather glad it turned out that way. This flower smells absolutely wonderful, and I think it's beautiful, but a tour guide told us it is commonly used for funerals in the Philippines and has a strong association with death.
I posted this for a few reasons: because the guild has been kind of dead the past week and we need something to talk about, because I'm going through a weird time right now and this picture somehow feels relevant (I made it my desktop background for now), and also, I'm hoping somebody- maybe Ivan or Cindarella?- will recognize this flower and tell me what it's called. If anyone cares, I could perhaps post some majestic mountains or fishies or monkeys (macaques, actually) or whatnot. Lemme know. And please, for the love of all that is Gaian and Catholic, don't let this guild die! I love it!!!
