With how I'm planning on doing the new Mirai, they are pretty isolationist and there isn't really any way to account for exclusive technologies. But because they are isolationist, they would not be using that quantum technology in the beginning, at least not offensively. What I'm hoping to do is minimize Mirai technological progression because I think that created something of a pressure in the past for others. In the current Guild, the Mirai are pretty much right where I want them to be technologically. Although, I am perfectly willing to abandon the Temporal technologies. The new Mirai nation I'm thinking of actually would not use hyperspace, pretty much at all. What I'm actually hoping to do is explore the Mirai culture much more, though I'm also reducing the scale of the Mirai considerably. At least in terms of internal factions and organizations. There will be no more than four different parts to the Mirai, probably only two camps and a dictator.

This is what I have for the Mirai so far, in sort of a bullet point form:

- The Mirai have a two-tiered society, the Mirai as a people and an elite society of Force-users, the Moriath.

- Since the discovery and development of subatomic engineering, a closely guarded secret, the Mirai have become highly isolationist. This policy is driven largely by their own introspective nature rather than any form of xenophobia.

- Subatomic Engineering has allowed the Mirai to develop a new form of atomic matter, called picocytic matter or picocytes. Picocytes are so termed for their extremely minute scale but complete individual functionality. Each picocyte is capable of exerting a monopolar field of Force energy. En masse, picocytes can use these fields to communicate, convert matter, sense their environment, and store information. Thus picoccytes can be used to build molecular computers , power conduits, and even power generators with unprecedented efficiency of both operation and manufacture. Picocytes and synthetic materials designed from the atom up form the mainstay of Mirai technology and have allowed the Mirai to progress far ahead in many scientific fields, such as Quantum Mechanics, Particle Physics and Astrophysics.

- Because picocytes respond to the Force, the Mirai have discovered that it can greatly enhance the Force Potency of a Force-user when incorporated into the user's body, without directly interacting or affect the midi-chlorians already present there. It was also discovered that people incapable of touching or sensing the Force can be made Force-Sensitive through the application of picocytes.

- Picocytes have increase the Force Potency of the Moriath to the point where they enjoy extended lifespans with the average expected lifespan of a Moriath being 200 years and only the last ten of which are spent in decrepitude or signs of old age. In human Mirai, the expected lifespan has also been extended to approximately 150 years, with the last 20 in old age.

- The ubiquitous presence of picocytes in Mirai and Moriath has also lead to a lack of Force-Potency becoming a recessive genetic trait. Mirai-Moriath pairs will always produce Moriath offspring. However, because the Moriath Force-Potency actually developed from ancient selective breeding, such pairings are typically discouraged.

- Mirai society is highly militarized, making it something of a communist state. However, they are ruled by a dictator, the Lord Mirai. Each Lord Mirai is genetically altered to live for exactly 500 years. When one reaches 480, he will choose a thirty-year-old successor and sped his remaining twenty years training that successor before dying. The successor may come from any of the Mirai (including the Moriath), though many of the Moriath feel that successors should only be chosen from their ranks. Traditionally, a military unit comprised entirely of possible successors is assigned to the Lord Mirai on his 470th birthday. All previous Lords Mirai are entombed beneath Arminas, the royal palace.

- Mirai structures, settlements, and ships are very spacious and expansive, which hides the growing population problem. The Mirai homeworld is the system's only habitable planet, yet all the other planets and the space between are also inhabited by Mirai colonies. They are beginning to feel pressured to expand.

- The Mirai are a proud and independent people who maintain a rigid military structure and constant high alert both to be ready to serve the Lord Mirai and also to be ready to defend themselves from what they believe to be a chaotic and gratuitously violent galaxy.

**************************
Those are just general bullets that point out some of the biggest differences between the new Mirai and the old, though they are not necessarily the only differences. Please let me know if there is anything in there that anyone is against.

that looks good. I was working on a map of the galaxy. Opinions:

User Image
Sith
Corellian
Jedi
Terran

Just a vague idea of the way things are. I'm actually going to be switch up the configuration of the Sith Empire to be more planetary based. Pretty much, a Sith world could be anywhere given the Naga-Hyperdirve (Which remains the same)

I feel a little surrounded, but other then that it looks good to me.

Yeah, that was kinda one of those "********, where's Coruscant. . . oh, there it is. . . ********." moments.

Plus, you were surrounded to begin with.

Plus there are a few other Jedi worlds. Is Ossus one of the Jedi worlds? It's hard to tell planet names from a map so small.

Also, I think that the Mirai homeworld should be about a cm (real cm) south and slightly east of Rakata Prime, in the Mid Rim. That would put them between the Terrans and the rest of the galaxy, but also well away from hyperspace lanes and the like and also put them near the home of the Star Forge, which would explain why they have two space stations that look very similar, at least from a distance (I'm changing it so they do not actually have a pair of Star Forges, merely massive space stations that share the iconography and, unknowingly, the purpose of the destroyed Star Forge that entered Mirai legend at some point).

Where is Ossus?

PB keeps cutting down the size of my maps, so I might just send it to everyone, but I found a more accurate one.

As for Ossus, they will have it, they also have Ilum, Mon Cal.

OK, so abouts Rakata Prime it is. On a side note, out by the tingel Arm, there is a planet called "Mirial"

OK, I have good news and bad news-

THe good news is I have a better map of the Galaxy, with a better thought out system. Now, the actual planets are identified, and the only borders are "Patrol routes." Bad news is since the map itself is SO MUCH Bigger, that now planetnames are IMPOSSIBLE to read. but alas, here it is:

User Image
Terran
Jedi
Protectorate (Yeah, I know it's had to see some of them)
Sith
Hutts
Mirai (sorry, it was the only color left that I thought would show up)

I might be able to get some web space to host the map, but not any time soon so I would recommend sending us all copies for now. Also, at least for me, there is a 1 MB upload option for photobucket. Even if that doesn't go full size, it will make the map that much bigger. Just a thought.

As to Mirial, I looked it up and I think that a new Mirai homeworld would be better.

Talk about a little driving distance to another "safe" planet, but it looks good to me.

Also is Mon Cal still a ship building planet?

On the issue of magic within the guild, I suggest that we can use the rules/mythos of Magic:The Gathering. It is a simpler system then d20's. Any thing could really be used and the strict rules to follow are only "Color" and "Spell Type."

Also, this allows for a magic based ascended beings (I assume we are keeping them). [Planeswalkers]

I figured we were getting rid of Ascended Beings, Force Entities, and the like, Ascension in general, along with getting rid of previous God characters. If we were not, I would like to. God characters are nice for a player to have, to a point, but eventually it just gets too high up for us to really do anything or for the characters to have any real effect. If a player is smart about it, he uses his god character to counter everything the other god character does and it becomes a balanced battle between whomever's left.

As to magic, I have yet to incorporate that into the combat system I'm developing, but it will probably show up mostly as just a ranged weapon or a modifier on damage/armor. The new Mirai are going to use Weaving, though, so they have something of a form of magic. It won't be the same as the original Weaving, per se, but it will be used the same. Probably as an arcane art known only to higher level Moriath.

Also, at this point the combat system is going to involve rolling two or three one-hundred-sided dice (something you can't do with paper-based games), the first of which will determine the whether or not an attack lands, and the other two determining your attack strength and your opponents (coupled with your opponent's roll). That way, a player can't just keep deleting posts and re-rolling until he gets something he likes. Well he could, but there would be no point because his opponent won't do that.

What I'm doing with the combat system right now is threshing out all the specific attributes that will have values. Then I will work out the mechanics. Then I'll figure out value assignment and then I'll present the system to the Guild.

As a side note, since we have a map with a grid, I think we should incorporate movement speed into the Guild. Something like, with every jump to hyperspace, a roll of the dice determines the time it takes to reach your destination. And then we can do something like traveling along known hyperspace routes halves your travel time.

One thing I think we to do is to go through the Mechanics thread and figure out which particular things need to go, what need to be modified, and what can stay as is.

I'd actually just thought we would lock the Mechanics threads and start a new thread or threads where people can re-introduce anything they want to keep and if anyone has any objections, they state it right there. I also think that that should wait until we have a battle system because presumably that will affect how we format Mechanics posts.
