*no comment about Seed*
i agree that Zeon was great as a whole, but with incredibly corrupt leaders. and perhaps those counted among its ranks were a little too blind as followers. keep in mind that the Zeon colonies technically were independant before the OYW, and afterwards, they lost a lot of freedoms. the whole Zabi cause was utterly corrupt. i hate the Zabis. i have no doubt Zeon was assasinated through their doings. they are basically responsable for the OYW, and for a loss of Zeon independance, and the great anti-spacenoid resentment later on
but then, without the Zabis, or a family like them, there would be no Zakus, and no MS, and no TV show
: /
i personally love the /actual/ Zeon cause, that is, those beliefs of Zeon Zum Deikun, but all the later Zeon war propoganda was pretty much crap, and had nothing to do with his origional ideals.
but that brings me to a question. i know the basic tennets of controlism (of Zeon Zum Deikun), but is there more to it than just the earth/colony relationship? thanks.

Abyss yeah thats ture but if you think about it gundam seed is a mix between Gundam and gundam wing so many things in gundam are just mixing great idea into better ideas Uh....Wing? Nospai: I do agree with Zeon Daikun's original idealogy too. On the side note, Amuro did mentioned in Char's Counterattack, intellectuals often get impatient to get their ideals in practice, so they resort to drastic measures. And we do see that when the Zabis took control.

But they have 5 gundams like in gundam wing there were five gundams then several small points like a masked captain.

file not found =S
and Char, that may be true, but it depends on their goals. the Zabi family's goal was power, so they took drastic measures to accomplish that. that wasn't the goal of /every/ member of the family (Garma, Dozle), but as a unit, that was their purpose.
Zeon apparently never needed to take, or felt he needed to take, such measures (for instance, when the Zabi family had thousands slaughtered for not secumbing to Zeon, an action Zeon strongly hated and that tension probably lead to his death)

Y'know... There's a rom where you can get graphics to do that. SD G-Generation Advance ... could make your own. Like a Zaku slapping a GM repeatedly with a Heat Hawk.

Zeon expansionism was completely baseless and unjust. Having the bitchin'est MS doesn't justify what was in the end a dynastic land grab. In the end, this is what inspired the reactionary atmosphere of Zeta, allowing oppurtunistic autocrats and businessmen to use unspeakable violence for personal gain - tactics resembling the Zabis'.
Gundam has always been about personal ambition mutilating an otherwise just cause by employing violence to further it. Even the Titans were inspired by a genuine need to repress subversives, as demonstrated by the Londo Bell having a nearly identical mandate.
The Rebublic had every right to a military, and to secure reasonable tactical footing, but the war was not one of liberation - of themselves or of any sympathetic population.
