Luca had seen her asleep; he carefully lifted her off his shoulder, propped her up, put his coat around her, and walked to the center of the observatory, where the large machine was; he began flipping levers and switches, turning dials and knobs, and the mechanization started to shift and change form, the stars in the sky started to streak about, leaving white vapor trails like falling comets.

Baiyu watched Luca momentarily before again looking up at the stars. "This is really a magical place you have, Luca." He whispered softly.

He smiled. "Of course. But it's not just all magic. It's technology, and wisdom collected from human emotions and creativity. In a sense, it's hard to tell one from the other. They all coexist."

He laughed. "I suppose this is true. It never is easy. But... I wouldn't say I build upon the "purity" of people... I fully realize that everyone in this world has the power to do great good or great evil. I accept and value those people for who they are, and what they value. No one ever can always make the best choices; it's easiest, in the end, to go with what you want. what you personally desire; what will benefit you most. Even if it hurts other people. Some take this view and see everyone in a negative light; but they don't quite realize that it's an essential part of human nature that allows us to get past our personal flaws, and to care about and reach out to other people..."

Baiyu nodded and glanced over to Ren, who was now listening intently. "The easier way is one most desired, but in the end it leads to a quicker destruction. One could say it's the quicker way to the inevitable fate of all living things."

Luca sighed and stretched. "Anyway. Talking too much philosophy is annoying..." he stared up at the stars, Lady following his gaze.
