You CAN help it though.
You don't (or RARELY, if ever) see adults making out in public. To me, it's kind of immature and obnoxious to engage in heavy PDA.

You know, I see my boyfriend once every week or every two weeks.
When I do see him, we usually go out and hang out with people.
Really, I don't get a lot of chances for private displays of affection.
He doesn't like sneaking off to make out, so we peck occassionally and cuddle alot.
Really, I think that PDA helps foster the idea of healthy relationships. There are quite a lof of kids who are confused about the ideas of sex and healthy relationships. Displaying a relationship where kissing isn't as taboo as sex can put kids into a state of comfort. If my mother and father hadn't been so open about affection, I doubt I could have asked my mother as many questions as I have about love and sex. It also helps foster the idea of healthy relationships for any children that a couple may have or just impact other people. Research has been done and there is a positive correlation between a physical relationship and a healthy relationship.
So, a peck on the cheek, holding hands, a random a** grab - all signs of a healthy, attractive relationship.
Besides, adults do it all the time.
You just haven't seen them do it.
