The deck I use is called the Dragon Tarot. I have never tried another Tarot deck yet, this one is comfortable enough for me to use for anything I need. I have invented my own spread, but I haven't used it in a few years now. I have an image of it somewhere to show what it does, but it's complicated. I call it the web.
I have studied Tarot off and on for 8 years now. Some weeks it's just hard to do as I might not have time. Also, it makes Willowbark uncomfortable so I try not to do it much when she's around.
Usually I use it for nothing more than divination myself, but if you're willing you can gather information on all kinds of things. I learned a lot about the spirit that was attacking my daughter before I tracked it down and dealt with it.
The same goes for the one that I communicated with before it left. It found me. I found using my Tarot deck helped me to talk easier to find out what it wanted.

I have a Dragon Tarot deck I use sometimes too, it's a good deck but I mainly use my Rider-Waite one since it's the one I started with. I have a lot of decks, actually, but I really only use two or three. I like the Dragon Tarot, it just relies more on numerology and I only have minimal knowledge of that, and we're still getting to know each other to boot.

The stock room at work is haunted. We have these bears that sing happy birthday if you press their hands, and it's happened fairly often that they'll all go off at once when you're the only person down there, and you're not even touching them or anything around them.
We also have a big air vent that likes to make random clanking noises. And things randomly fall over as you're either walking towards them or in a row or two over where no one is at the time.
Sketchy.

Entervixen, maybe your Dragon Deck is different than mine. I don't find mine relying much on numerology. At least, not that I use. I find they work great for me. I think I have an image of one of the cards. Let me post it here: Here's one of them. That's the only one I've scanned for some reason. I could scan more if you want to confirm whether they're the same as yours are or not.

No, mine is different. I really like the way yours looks, it is very pretty. Once I find my scanner and hook it upI can scan some of the cards to show you as well.

entervixen i'm wiccan. I believe there is an afterlife in the sense that we are reincarnated to learn lessons through life, and that death is simply a transition from one state of consciousness to the next. But what we go to is sort of, well nothingness, not nothing in the sense of the absence of everything, but nothing as in the nothing from which all things come from and which all things return. Uh, I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else, but it makes sense to me, lol. I need to read though this thread but I will start with this post first. Reincarnation seems rather terracentric to me. What is your position on that aspect of it?

At a place I once worked it seemed it was haunted so I held a (fake) exorcism, however, my boss was very unappreciative of that. lol

I have a lot of tarot decks and now that I have moved they are all over the place in boxes I guess and the only one I actually know where it is is my Crowley deck and I have never much liked using that one as it is sort of a grumpy deck. I like the numerology aspect of tarot. It adds to it and is inherent in just about any deck one uses by default, by simply being the tarot. I mean the 2 of something has a "2" in it and that 2 has meaning, it helps define the card, right? As do all the numbers.

I haven't learned numerology so I have not been able to use that aspect of the cards.
I usually go by gut instinct. I have a couple of books on it but I merely use them as guidelines. I go by what I feel, and I am very rarely wrong.
I might be more wrong now though since I haven't done a reading in a long time though, heheh.
I only own the one deck, I feel it's the only one I'll ever need. I've used it for all kinds of things: Divinination, meditation, communication, even defense a couple times when I was feeling paranoid about something.
I've never had a reason to feel I should own more decks. I've read of people having several decks for different types of readings. I just need the one.
The only problem I see with my readings is usually they give all the bad news. Friends and my roommates in the last city I was in nicknamed me Doomsayer because of that. They'd get a reading done and it always told them the bad things that were happening, why they were happening and what kind of bad things would happen later.
I think my deck absorbed my pessimism and a decent amount of negative energy. Probably my fault because of its diverse usage.

That is interesting that you only use one deck but on the other hand you gotta go by how you feel about these things and that is the bottom line of what is important. You don't really need "numerology" (and yet, see my comments below about numbers), I have always thought that gut instinct is a really important aspect of reading. If you don't have it you are left with a literal reading...but that lacks the touch of human that is needed to tie the important aspects of the reading together.
The tarot is fascinating to me, encompasing as it does a "compendium" of both the everyday mundane experiences and trials one encounters in life, the various people we meet on our travels and the sublime things that infuse life with magic and meaning. The triad of the tarot is there for a purpose. So are the numbers.
So to be honest, I feel that (not numerology per se), but the numerical aspect of the cards can lend an important cast to readings. Like 2 that I mentioned above. Duality. Or 4...the cornerstones of a foundation, or 10, the completion of a path. I like to think about these things. It is all very interesting to me.

So far the few people I found that know what I'm talking about when it comes to Tarot find it odd that I only use one deck. Some have many decks and they a specific one for a specific kind of reading.
I've had no such compulsion. To be honest the deck picked me when I went to the shop where I found it. They had a six foot long shelf coverd in Tarot decks and I just kind of walked along with my hand over top trying to find that one that jumps out at you. This one did, literally. I'm not sure if I actually dropped my hand and grabbed it or what, but it was there and I knew it was what I'd need.
What can I say? Apparently I'm a very odd person. I still read comic books after all, hahaha.
As to Numerology, I take numbers into consideration, but only if they have that 'LOOK AT ME!' aspect to them.
When I do, I don't always use the number of the card. It might be the number of something on the card, or the spot number the card is in. Something that grabs my attention in terms of numbers.
I can't really describe it as I haven't studied numerology. Just sometimes I know a number is needed for something and so far I've managed to get a number.
It's another part of Tarot I'd like to study, along with a couple other things. Astrology was another. But so far I've managed to get any information I needed from a reading without knowledge in those parts.
Perhaps I'll have more time down the road to broaden my studies and it will most likely help me do better with my deck. I'll have to try to find some good sites that talk about it to read up on.

brrrrr.... it feels cold to hear scary stories... hmm..i experienced it once...i went to my aunt's house to sleep there even though i don't want to.(coz their house is pretty scary at night even if it's small..) i was sleeping on the floor when i heard footsteps. I avoid it knowing that it was my aunt's. When i peeked at my aunt she was still in bed quietly sleeping and her slippers were in front of me. And there are random knocking on their doors and windows too...creeeeepppyyyy...Since then i never slept there ever again... xp

The weirdest phenomena I've ever witnessed were vanishing items. Thing in my home would just... magically disappear on one spot and reappear in the most unexpected places. But I think it's mostly because I just toss my stuff around without too much care (my cell is victim to such abuse).

Umaeril I need to read though this thread but I will start with this post first. Reincarnation seems rather terracentric to me. What is your position on that aspect of it? It does, at that. One of hte things I debate with myself is reincarnation, or rather, just how it works. I have some general ideas, but in the end, I still don't know. But it is something I like to think about a lot. On a more gruesome note, the last place I lived was really freaky. A lot of weird stuff happened there. Found out last night the guy who moved in after us blew his brains out in the room I shared with my bf. eek

That would have left some bad vibes in the room. What kind of weird stuff happened?
