It is. By a ghost kitty. It likes to nap with me and once I almost stepped on it. O_O I know it naps with me because I feel it jump on the bed, but it's not one of my cats. And I actually did see it run underneath my feet once. Almost fell 'cause I thought I was stepping on one of my cats, but there was nothing there. The live kitties were in the living room with my bf, I was in the hallway. You guys ever have weird experiences like that?

Ok actually no, never had an experience like that lol. I used to imagine a ghost in my room when I was a kid, but I made it up. But once I did rent the top floor of a house and then after my experiences there I left 4 days later. Strange goings on in that house, like water coming in the window when it was not raining (and it was the attic floor too), and lights coming on in the middle of the night. But what really got me was looking down at the street and from one of the windows written in the street was the name "HENRY". The only place you could see it was from the one window. Totally creepy. So...yeah...I was outta there.

Wow, that is creepy. This actually isn't the first time I've lived in a haunted house, the other place I lived with my bf was haunted too, but it was scary. *shivers* Whatever was there wasn't happy. There was a voice in the kitchen, and a couple times it popped the back door open. gonk And this this other place. Can't prove it was haunted, but I used to live in this apartment with my family that was kinda...off. Nothing ever really happened, it was just a creepy place to be. Two months after we moved out, they actually unearthed Indian remains a block away. Kinda explains the creepy feeling that place gave off, I think.

Move to Canada! With a much lower population, we have less haunted houses! *nods*
Just don't count the one that was near where I grew up, where an entire family was wiped out by diptheria back in the 30's. To this day you can still see lights on in the house at night sometimes and power was never run to the house...
Also, For a while I lived near a graveyard. There were lots of unhappy campers in that one that I sensed. They didn't like it when I'd shortcut through there at night to go places.
But yeah, less haunted houses in Canada! mrgreen

lol, few ghosts in Canada, huh? Actually, my bf and I were contemplating moving there, but we don't have enough monies sad Fewer ghosts is good incentive though.

Do people here think that there really are ghosts? If so, what are they like?

I know I believe in ghosts. One of the theories I've seen that I really believe in is that ghosts are like an emotional imprint on the fabric of reality; they are not really there, it is just an impression left by a traumatic event. I don't thik all ghosts are like that, but that a lot do seem to fit that explination. I also believe that the ones who aren't just happened to get lost, or are so tied to whats happened they can't (or won't) let go.

So you believe in an afterlife? May I ask what kind? I am not going to put down your beliefs or anything, I am just curious and seeking to have a bit of dialogue on it. I have my own sort of view of what is going on here, I am sure it has been thought of before, but it does not fit a standard religion (and I am not religious either, actually I am barely spiritual). Were you are you wiccan?
I think your ghost hypothesis is interesting and one I have heard before. I think that if anything could be right about ghosts, that maybe that is right, that it is emotional impression.

i'm wiccan. I believe there is an afterlife in the sense that we are reincarnated to learn lessons through life, and that death is simply a transition from one state of consciousness to the next. But what we go to is sort of, well nothingness, not nothing in the sense of the absence of everything, but nothing as in the nothing from which all things come from and which all things return. Uh, I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else, but it makes sense to me, lol.

I believe in ghosts. I've not only seen some, I've felt their presence in certain areas that I found out later were haunted (I did not know this before hand).
I also have managed to track down troublesome spirits that were tormenting my oldest child back to its grave and gave it a spiritual thrashing for what it did. I have a rather odd ability for stuff like that. I use Tarot, can sense spirits and the such and can bash them if they're doing something I don't like, for lack of a better description. I can use Tarot for all kinds of things. I even described to a friend how long he had at his job and why he'd lose it with them. Stuff like that.
I do believe in spirits, and that many move on. I don't know to what, but on to something. It's those that are restless for one reason or another, either love, hatred, jealousy etc that become stuck here or stay here on purpose and find a means to take it out on those still alive if they feel they should.
Many are actually harmless and want a means to communicate. I used to communicate with one for several weeks before he moved on, but that was about 5 years ago now.

I've heard of people using Tarot for things like that, just never tried it myself. What deck did you use? Have you ever tried different decks? Or attempted to make your own? I read Tarot, have for about ten years, but never branched out beyond divination. I don't read very often anymore, the last reading I did for somebody freaked him out because one of the cards told him he had a long journey with an unhappy ending, then he called his mom and found out his friends dad had died a day or two prior. sad I still feel kinda bad about that, though I know I shouldn't.
