Well it was my first winterguard comp this year. For our show this year, we use ladders, since our song is called the ladder. Anyways besides moving them around, they were on wheels, we would do dance and equipment work on them. Well in the beginning we run to the ladder and do a sotae (spelling) on them, and there's a person on the other side of the ladder that does it with you. Well my ladder partner didn't put the latch down all the way, so it started to fold up when we were both on it! Luckily we were able to get off and fix it before we got hurt. Another time, at our 4th comp my instructor decides to change the rifles from doing 2 backhands on the ladder to 4 in the same amount of counts, 20 MINUTES BEFORE WE COMPETED, so when it came time to perform I dropped my rifle off the ladder.
If you want to see my school's first comp. type in: West Hills Guard 2009 on youtube, there's two videos of it, but i don't remember which one shows our ladder collapsing or if both do. *Note* for the collapsing ladder look at the 3rd ladder from the back. And since this was our first comp. our show has had changes since then

hahaha changing your show 20 minutes before you compete is a blessing compared to my guard a few times. My instructors changed the work while we were warming up 2 minutes before we performed.
Another competition mishap I have had (i have had WAY to many) would be my first fall competition last year. I passed out in the beginning of the day. My instructors let me sit out, and since it was pouring out we thought it would be a standstill so we were all practicing inside. guess what? It was outside. We were drenched. It was almost impossible to hold on to our equipment. But the water did stop me from passing out again :3
