I'm against abortion personally, but I'm actually Pro-Choice. I believe that all life is sacred and should not be taken needlessly. In fact, I don't agree with the death penalty either, except in certain extreme cases. On the other hand, I do think that human euthanasia should be legalized, but severely limited. Like, you have to be a certain age, or maybe only if your illness is completely hopeless for a cure and severely impair your quality of life, in addition to being the choice of the dying person, in their will.

But, as far as being pro-choice, here's what I think:
1. Some abortions are necessary to preserve the life of the mom. Sometimes it's either kill the baby now, or mom and baby both die later.
2. Could you carry a rape-baby full term and keep your sanity?
3. Incest. Enough said.

I know I could never live with myself if I'd ever had an abortion. But I have sympathy for those who might not be able to handle a situation like that. I think they should receive counseling first, and talk to women who have had abortions, to see how they felt afterwards. And I would strongly suggest adoption as a first option, and abortion only if it would cause the mother severe mental or physical injury.

by the way, adoption is much better if you make the decision while you are pregnant. you can find a family who's looking for a baby and even be involved in the screening process. usually they will be there for the birth experience and maybe even pay some of your medical bills. then your child-to-be will avoid the foster experience all together. there are tons more people looking to adopt babies anyway, and they're usually alot more normal than the bible-thumping/save the whole world types that choose to foster.

for the record, my hubby is a foster/adoption. he has met his biological parents, in fact it is through them that i met him. his bio parents are totally awesome, their even pagan, but they were just too young when they had him. they stayed together and had 3 more kids. but his adopted parents? i hate them more every day... he has so many horror stories. he didn't get treated the same as the other children either. he had to do all the chores to help them out, and when he wanted to try out for football, they told him he couldn't be on the football team and have a car... if he wanted a car he had to have a job. even though he had already bought and paid in full for his own car.

*so random* sorry...

The way I see it:

I am personally against abortion, unless it's medically necessary. However, I do not believe that anyone should tell a woman that she is not allowed to have an abortion. So, overall I'm Pro-Choice.

Being pregnant for 9 months leads to a lot of potential complications and medical risks that, IMO, are really not worth it unless you plan to keep the child.

I believe it's the mother's decision what to do with her body. I don't advocate it as a form of birth control (as my husband may prattle on about) but more so if the mother or child wouldn't be able to withstand the pregnancy (for physical or mental health). Sure some women will abuse the right to terminate the pregnancy, tis nature for some. That doesn't mean they can make it illegal for anyone to do it, even if it means their life may be in danger (in case of a friend of mine in jr high, the baby was crushing her insides and doc said it was the only option). If you think about it those who would use abortion as a contraceptive will only end up doing it in back allies with coat hangers (as an example) or abusing different drugs/drinks/herbs to try to rid the child. If I could have a daughter and she were in that position I'd advocate for adoption over abortion, but I'd rather her do it in a sterile medical facility instead of a way that is more dangerous to her body (not that abortion techniques are without danger).

The path we follow doesn't have an opinion one way or another on the issue.

Ya know Elysion, I agree with you in many ways... but I feel that my very abusive upbringing has made me stronger. I have withstood much more than my friends who had loving homes. It's kind of a toss up on how the kid will turn out.
