For or against? And why do you feel that way?
Does religion play a part in your standpoint or not?

I have nothing against it personally, but that's all I'm going to say for now.

I've got such mixed feelings on this.

Here's what I have to say. First, always check out other options. Second, if you are on any sort of drugs/ influence of anything, abortion please. Don't ******** up your child's life, its a nuisance for the child.

I believe the first three months of an unplanned/ unwanted pregnancy is perfectly ok for abortion. After that, if you can't make a decision, well thats your own fault, you had plenty of time. After the first trimester, to me its too uncomfortable close to being more than just a few mere cells in your womb.

I think what people need to understand is that sometimes giving life is worse than taking it away. How can I even say that? yes it seems a bit cruel, but lets put it this way. My mom overdosed 9 years ago. My dad is in and out of jail. I haven't seen either since I was about 3. I lived with my grandparents until I was 5, went to an awful foster family, got adopted at age 7 by another lovely family. I have always had thoughts of suicide, and wished my mother just aborted me. I never expected to go to college. I always thought tragedy would take me away from the world i wasn't meant to be in. I was unwanted, unplanned. What was there for me?

And thats coming from a loving adoption family. They're great, I love them. But what about the kids who don't get that? what about the kids whose parents are constantly in and out of their life, saying they'll come get them but never do? These kids are tossed around, left without feeling. They're dead inside.

of course, no one has to agree with me smile

I'm for abortion, the world is over-populated as it is, we don't need anymore children so aborting unwanted fetus' really doesn't seem like that bad of a thing to me.

But on a more 'caring' note, I'd prefer a fetus to be aborted then have it grow up into an unfit home which is often the reason for such abortions.

Same here.
In my opinion, it's better to abort a fetus than to hand it over to the state where they can get stuck with anyone.

I'm pro-choice, but I am not pro-abortion.

I believe that abortion should be legal, primarily because outlawing it will not make it go away. Women will still have abortions, but more of them will be done at home, or performed by "back-alley doctors".

I don't think that abortion should be used as a form of "birth control"(and I use the term loosely). If you can afford to get an abortion, you can afford preventative measures.

In the cases of rape and severe illness, I think that abortions should be available.

There's always the argument that it isn't the baby's fault that the mother was raped, but it also wasn't the mother's fault.

For illness, I'll use toxaemia as an example. It typically occurs early in the pregnancy, and as far as I know, removing the baby is the only cure. If that is not done, both the mother and the baby will die. Personally, I think that it's best to choose the lesser of two evils and save one rather than lose both.

That's horrible!

And sadly, it happens quite a bit.

That's something else I always argue. Making it illegal I think would cause more deaths of the mothers AND the children

I have nothing against it it just for the person own decision

I'm pro-choice because I think that until the baby is born, it is essentially another part of the mother, like a limb or an organ. It can also be equated to a parasite in the way that it cannot survive on its own. That being the case, it is fully up to the mother to be able to say "i don't want this." Not only that, but I think abortion is perfectly acceptable if the parent(s) are not in good standing to bring a child into the world and give it a good upbringing, like if finances aren't good. I don't think that we should over-crowd our government run facilities with orphans or adoptees either. I've had friends that have had to go through the state-run child protective services, DCF, whatever you want to call it, and it's just not good at all.

I agree with most of what's been said on here. But I have a new twist to the discussion.
There is talk at the moment of trying to force all hospitals in this country to offer abortions. This includes Catholic hospitals. So they would essentially be forcing those establishments to commit what they believe to be murder. I don't agree with the way Catholics, or really, most Christian, see things but this just seems wrong to me. There are plenty of hospitals that don't have those connections or hangups. Why would it be neccessary to force this onto the ones that do? What do you all think?

Wow. Just realized that I typed 'pro-life' in my first post, when I meant to type 'not pro-life'. Edited.

In response to Runa: I think that it's wrong to force doctors to perform a procedure to which they are morally opposed. A woman would not have to go to, for example, a Catholic hospital in order to get an abortion; there are quite a few other hospitals with doctors willing to perform an abortion without the government telling them that they have to.

I agree with you on this.
I don't believe a doctor should have to perform something they feel is wrong.

i'm kinda both pro-life and pro-choice. i personally would never get one, because i think it's wrong to do so unless there is medical reasons that would make it dangerous to carry to term. however i would never push my views on another so i'm strongly of the opinion that it is the mothers choice and no one elses.

My thoughts exactly. I'm entirely pro-choice, pro-abortion. If you will not be able to take care of, raise adequately, and love your child, you might as well kill it before it comes out.
