There was a a shout, and, just like magic, two other cats appeared where no cats had been before. They looked hostile and mean, and Rumex was quite afraid. "O-others? I could ask you the same thing! Where'd you come from, showing up out of nowhere like that?" Both of the cats were male and much larger than her and her little kitten friend. She put a paw in front of him, not wanting to let these large, obviously evil cats get at him. Flattening her ears and fluffing her tail, she looked between the two nervously. "You're not taking us anywhere, you demons!"

Vulf leapt about three feet in the air as he heard the shout from behind him, and he spun around quickly to see the two male cats stalking towards them. His fur stood on end and he readied himself for a fight, should it come to that.
As his new friend put her paw in front of him he hissed at the two males, feeling slightly safer with her paw there. He wasn’t afraid of them he told himself, though his instincts were telling him to back down and run, as there was no way he stood any chance against them.
“Who are you lot then? We’re no cat-nappers!” he looked up at Rumex quickly before continuing to glare at the seemingly hostile males, “How do we know you ain’t the ones who’s been nicking them other cats?”

((That I am. ;3))
"We've been here the whole time!" Ristretto cried, flicking his ears back in annoyance. "Where did you come from? And the only place we're taking you is to Vaertun, you catnappers!" He growled, lashing his tail. Obviously the two were playing dumb...! The female looked quite hostile, too. They needed to wrap this up, and fast before things got ugly. He looked to Regallegro quickly, attempting to give the 'let's-hurry-up!' signal, before looking to the kit.
"What right do you have to go asking cats their buisness, catnapper's apprentice?" Ristretto growled, lowering his face down to the kit's. "And how do we know you aren't the ones 'nicking' the others, hm? Got you there, kit." He gave a proud grin and looked back up to Regallegro. "We had better get these catnappers back to Vaertun," He sighed, giving a quick glance to the two.

Regallegro nodded affirmatively back in Ristretto's direction. Finding the other Jellicle had turned out to work rather nicely, instead. Surely these two that they had found weren't especially high on the totem pole, no, but Vaertun would know what to do with them. How they had lucked out! He could hear the songs they'd sing now...
Here's a tale of two Jellicles from some time ago (Black and brown - respectively - from head to toe). They snagged the catnappers! Whoah, whoah, whoah! Regallegro aaaaand Ristretto!
Music to his ears!
"You can stop pretending, now." He walked a close circle around the two of them, his head and tail held high. "If you come along peaceably, we won't have to hurt you. But if you're thinking of putting up a fight..." Flattening his ears as he came nose to nose with the female, he grinned and growled, his bristled tail lashing behind him. "You should probably reconsider."

"We came from the other end of this alley, and we're not going anywhere with you. Veretun indeed- you're probably planning to take us to some old warehouse or someplace down by the wharf, or a dusty moldy cellar!" Rue hissed, the fur on her back rising. "It's idiotic to think we'd be able to kidnap anybody. Look at us! He's a kitten and I'm half your size! And we're both well welcomed by the Jellicle tribe! Don't you think that, oh, say, some exile or a cat more criminal in ability and inclination would be the kidnapper?" There was a slight edge of panic in her voice; she was quite scared. "I'm not letting you take this kitten! You'd just hurt him, you vile catnappers!" Really, though, she was quite worried; she couldn't take two larger male cats in a fight, and she had to protect the kitten. She didn't understand how they thought a small thing like her could wrangle another cat, but if this was how they subdued their victims, then so be it. The spirits and the fates would protect her and the kitten; they were innocents! But... even though Rumex meditated and pondered quite a bit, she didn't put here whole faith in the sky. She flexed her claws quickly, wondering if she could scratch one male across the eyes, grab the kitten, and make a break for it.

As the first male leaned close to his face Vulf hissed, taking a step back out of caution, then watched as the other male walked around them. Why did they feel so threatened by a small female and a kitten? He couldn’t understand it. Was he so young that he just didn’t understand the way the world worked yet? Were many adult males afraid of females and kittens like this? Or were these two just an incredibly stupid example? These questions swam through his mind as Rue spoke, using several large words that he didn’t quite understand.
Vulf could feel how tense everyone was, it hung thick in the air, and he didn’t like the unfriendliness of it one bit. Deciding to try a different tactic, Vulf took a deep breath and leapt forward, “Look. We ain’t no cat-nappers, and you lot are clearly too daft to be the cat-nappers” he looked up at the two males, and gulped slightly before continuing, “Erm… What I mean is, we all seem to be on the same side ‘ere, right?” he took a step back, ready to run at the first sign of trouble.

Ristretto rolled his eyes with a sigh. These two were quite annoying. But perhaps.... He looked over the two again. Oh, yes, they could quite easily be catnappers-- The dainty one could be a spy, the kitten an apprentice. Yet, at they same time, they could be loyal members to the tribe. But that's exactly what they wanted to think--that they were on your side, certainly not catnappers, no.. And then Bam! You're out like a light, and they take you to some warehouse with all the others... Yes... But. Say these weren't catnappers. He'd be seen as the tribe idiot, bringing back two obviously dedicated members! Or they could be heros, songs sung about them for moons....
Ristretto glared at the kit, eyes narrowed. "Smart-mouthing those older than you isn't going to get you anywhere, kid," He growled, before turning to Regallegro with uncertain eyes. He nodded his head in a spot far enough away from the two prisoners so that they couldn't hear, but quickly turned back to them. "If you dare move a paw you vile 'nappers, we'll have your tails for lunch," He threatened, though it was an empty threat. He padded a bit away, keeping a steady eye on the two while waiting for Regallegro.

Regallegro was never one to admit that a kitten might be right. Of course, Regallegro was never one to admit that anyone could be right, save for himself. Still, when the kitten spoke, the possibility of him being wrong - something that didn't happen very often, mind you - lingered in the back of his mind. He was so certain that these two were catnappers, but if they weren't...well, imagine how horrible that could have been! No, no, he didn't even want to think of it. He bristled slightly at the idea, glaring at the kitten for a moment before turning back to the female. They could be...but they might not have been, too. He didn't trust them as far as he could throw them, anyway, and though he probably could've gotten the little one a good distance, he wouldn't have been able to pick up the female. No, she was a little on the chubby side, anyway...
Even with all his deliberation, he managed to catch Ristretto's uncertain eye. He turned to the female once more, flattening his ears and snapping his teeth but a centimeter or two away from her face. "Or we might get hungrier," he growled warningly before half turning towards Ristretto, keeping an eye on the duo while moving over to the male that had quickly become his comrade.
"What're we gonna do?" he asked, uncertainty in his hushed voice. He hadn't really thought this part of the plot out...

These must be the catnappers, and now Rue knew what they'd done with the kidnapped cats! They'd killed and eaten them! All of a sudden, the strangers' size didn't matter. So what if they were huge? So what if she was tiny? These had to be the most evil cats she'd ever encountered, and she had to do something! No way could the Jellicle tribe recognize them as family, no, not these horrid monsters threatening her and the kitten with becoming dinner! Only a monster would try to eat a kitten! With a horrid yowl, the cat shrieked "CANNIBALS!" and jumped, claws extended, at the nearest stranger's back. ((Whoever she jumped on: You can decide if she landed. I don't want to godmode.))
Brave? Yes. Stupid? Incredibly so. Something she was going to regret very, very soon? Quite probably.

Vulf sighed as the males continued to threaten them, and as they took a few steps away to talk privately. He suddenly felt more at ease with the situation, as he was now convinced that the males were far too unintelligent to be cat-nappers of any kind. Scratching behind his ear with his back paw Vulf pondered over the situation at hand, in the hopes of coming up with some way to convince the two that he and Rue also couldn’t be the cat-nappers. Perhaps then they could all work together to find the missing Jellicles? Four minds were better then one after all.
After a few seconds of contemplation Vulf had an idea; if they could somehow prove that they didn’t have the strength to lift full-grown cats, perhaps that would convince the males that they weren’t capable of cat-napping! Suddenly excited by his plan, Vulf smiled up at Rue, but her demeanour told him she was preparing for something, and before he could say anything she violently leapt at the males, claws extended and shouting something about ‘cannibals’.
Vulf looked away, sighing once again. There was no way they would have any chance of convincing them they weren’t anything now. All he could do was back her up and try to break up the fight if they’d bother to listen to him. Taking a few steps forward, his claws extended as he prepared himself for a fight, Vulf shouted at the top of his lungs; “Oi! Can’t we just settle down and ‘av a chat about this!?”

Ristretto gave a swift nod in agreement. "Yeah, so watch out," He growled over his shoulder before turning back to Regallegro with a worried expression. "I... I don't know," He sighed quietly, ears drooping. " I mean, what if--" He was abruptly cut off by a loud yowl of 'Cannibals!' He looked up from his huddled position with a mutter of "Wuh--" before scrambling back. So they were catnappers! This was their attack!
"Look out, Regallegro!"

Regallegro's actions before the attack were brief. He nodded understandably and amiably at Ristretto's words. The male had turned out to be a valuable companion, and he didn't want to offend him. And then he heard it; the same scream that everyone else had heard. He wheeled around at Ristretto's words, but they came a bit too late; the female was already on his back, her claws around finding their way through his thin fur and into his flesh.
This confirmed it better than anything ever could have. Why else would she have attacked him, especially with his back turned? With flattened ears, he let out a low, angry yowl, twisting in a way that only feline anatomy allows as he swatted, claws extended, at her face.

Rue saw the claws coming just in time. Mercifully, only one managed to hit up by her eye, but the brunt of the male's attack hit her nose. A series of parallel cuts stung, and blood dripped from the gashes on her nose. She'd have scars there, but they were the scars of brave battle. The spirits would look kindly on her for those scars. "Murderer! Cannibal! Kidnapping scum!" she howled, screeching as she clawed back at him, flailing her paws wildly, hoping to hit something. "What kind of monster are you that you eat other cats?"

Vulf’s paws kneaded anxiously on the ground as he stared at the three fighting adults in front of him. Why wouldn’t they just listen to him? This fight was not solving anything and the only thing that could come from it was someone getting severely hurt. Taking a few calming breaths, Vulf considered running into the middle of everyone and shouting ‘STOP!’ at the top of his lungs. He soon dropped this idea, as he pictured himself getting torn to shreds, no, there had to be someway to make them listen without putting himself into so much danger.
Looking around him briefly, he saw the large dumpster behind him and an idea started to form. Taking a running jump, he pulled himself up onto an old discarded cardboard box, then after a few practice jumps, pulled himself up onto the dumpster. From here he looked down at the three cats below him and took a deep breath, if he couldn’t get there attention this time he would have to something drastic, “Oi! You three! Fightin’ ain’t solvin’ nothin’ here! There are missin’ cats out there and you’ve all gone mad!”

Ristretto yowled angrily, tail fluffing out almost instantly as Regallegro--his comrade, his partner!-- was brutally attacked. How dare she! Yelling some nonsense about murderers and cannibals and monsters. Perhaps... He bit his lip, eyes widening. Perhaps she was one of the loonies that had been sent out to get them. The insane ones were usually more brutal, weren't they? His back arched, fur bristling as he smelled blood. Blood! Though from which side, he couldn't tell.
Brushing off the kitten's words, Ristretto leapt into the pile of wrestling cats, paws flailing for a hit on something. Preferably the insane-spy-catnapper-thing as he didn't want to hit his partner. Though, with his aim...
