Saphira caught a whiff and her eyes traveled to the fresh carcass by the glowing female. She still didn't know anyone's names around here. But that would have to wait, she was hungry. However, she wasn't sure if she was welcome to the meal, and instead, watched silently as the young cub approached it. Then she realized she didn't see that cub before. Nor did she recognize the new lion who entered the cave. More and more seemed to be drawn to this cave...

Kero watched Marne work, memorizing what herbs were used and how. "That's fine I can handle some stinging. I'm good at taking in pain. Thanks again for the help," she said. She had warmed up to him more then anyone else here. Maybe she was naive, but she didn't think so. She just got the vibe that he was a good guy who needed kind treatment, just like her. He didn't treat her like a freak so she would treat him the same. She made small talk so she could distract herself when the stinging started. "It was a Zahina lioness. The one that attacked me, I mean. Not that it matters; bad deeds aren't DNA related at all. How you act you not be set into a stereotype dependant on religion and looks. True I don't know the beliefs of a Dalin. As long as they don't worship murdering the helpless I'm sure I can't point any anger at them. I don't know why I feel the need to say this stuff, and I'm sure some lions here may judge my opinion but all in all I don't care what you are. For all I know you may have saved Patch and her cubs yesterday and you're helping me today." She stopped talking and realized that she had been talking a lot. If her spots no longer drew attention to her, her big mouth certainly did. Hopefully no one wanted to pick a fight with her. She just wanted Marne to feel welcome.

Looking down at the little one about to serve herself dinner, she looked across the cave at the now parents. It had been days since they'd eaten that she'd known about. Deciding it was about time, she grabbed the back leg and pulled. Sickening pop and tearing sounds emanated through the cave, but it was a sound all too familiar to lions. It wasn't hard to pull off a large chunk of meat, and, carrying it over to the family, she dropped it down.

"I thought you guys would like something without having to get up. "She smiled. Those cubs were going to be a handful. Already there was water floating around her head, goldfish jumping from one puddle to the other. It was a little unnerving, but she knew it was only childs play compared to what the little lioness could and would be able to do with time.

Returning back to the gazelle, she dug her mouth in and got a god piece of meat. She'd been famished, but willing to let it go due to the storm. She had told herself she'd bring down the first large helpless thing she could find when the rains stopped. THere would likely be something stuck in the mud... and hopefully it wouldn't be herself. She never felt remorse for the killing, as it was a natural way of life, thoug she'd always questioned a decision of leaving a youngling without parents. (as she never killed children).

She was an odd lioness at times.

Lucile trotted over behind the carcass watching Suri remove the creature's leg, wincing a little when it popped. Sure she was familiar with the sounds of popping bones when she tugged apart prey she hunted, but it was usually something much smaller. After the lioness removed a chunk of meat for herself the cub stuck her teeth into a spot on the side, tugging off a strip of meat and dragged it off to a spot out of the way to eat.

"S'good. Thank you." The little lioness offered the thanks through the piece of meat currently clamped in her jaws.

Airi stuck her tongue out as Marne declined her request, but proceeded to look around for more mischief to cause anyway. Suddenly, there was a warm smell of food, and a new cub. Eyes wide, she ran over to her. "Hi! M'name's Airi." She said by way of introduction, blue eyes bright with curiosity. "I'm the oldest cub here." She said, raising her head slightly as if proud. "And there's fi-four more with my momma over there." She gestured towards the others cubs.

As Marne treated Kero's injuries, the cub pricked her ears up and looked over in interest. She could smell a slight bitter tang in the air, and forced herself to memorize it. The small plants seemed to fascinate her, now that she knew you could use them. Suddenly, she shook her head and bent down to tear off a piece of meat, stomach growling in anticipation.

He moved toward her and spat the paste onto a larger leaf so that it wouldn't get dirty. He scrapped small globs of the paste off with his paws and began to, as gently as he could, rub it into her wound, avoiding tearing her skin more with his claws. Marne listened intently as she talked, and let a ghost of a shadow touch his lips.

"Thank you, Kero." It was all he could say at first, but he felt like she needed him to continue, so he gathered his words and said them carefully. "I am... not a murderer, though I have killed, just as every lion here has. But DNA does control our nature to in extent, and it is in my nature to be what I am. Cold, secluded... I have a nasty temper that you have yet to see, and I hope you will never see. I heal what I can because I can, though I have come to cared slightly about the well being of some of the lions in this den," he did well not to mention which, for he did not want to offend those he didn't care about in hopes of avoiding fights.

"I'll continue to care for Patch and her cubs for as long as they need me. Which I suppose means I'll be here for as long as any one of you needs me." It felt awkward saying that sentence. Was he really ready to stay? Marne felt like he needed a purpose again, though, so he was certain he would stay despite the ill welcome he got from some of them. He was Da'lin, it was to be expected. But, he would not have his patience tried and tried again. The moment he was smothered and made angry he would lash out and ensure it never happened again. Unless, of course, it was a cub.

The air grew stuffy and warm inside the cave and, despite her hunger, she stood up and padded to the entrance, passing all the other lions. Then she walked outside a short distance and let the rain soak her coat. She laid down on the cold, wet ground and yawned again. She watched the rain fall down from the sky to the floor. Her stomach growled again, like another lioness inside, but she ignored it and let her body temperature drop.

Kahawa lay sleeping next to Patch. The last days had been tiring and he could use the sleep. The storm had raged on so they had to stay in the cave with the other lions. He didn't mind it much as long as no threats were formed. The cubs had been doing well and required full attention of Patch. He helped Patch where he could, comforting her with leaves and stuff. Marne had been coming around now to care for Patch and he felt grateful to him for that. He owed him a favor in the future.
Then a sound disturbed Kahawa's sleep. Suri came to bring them a chunk of Gazelle. "Thanks Suri!" He said to her. Looking around the cave he saw two new lions. A small cub around Airi's age and a large lion full of scars. He made him think of an old war veteran. He ignored them and took a bite off the leg and swallowed. It tasted good and he was glad to have something in his stomach again.

Solomon's legs were drenched with mud. He had been walking trough the rain for a couple of hours now. His wet manes felt heavy as he trotted forward. He looked at the sky, trying to see where the storm ended but all the clouds were pitch black. He tried to listen if he could hear something except for the thunder but being half deaf didn't really help.
Looking around he spotted a dark ridge. Maybe he could stay there till the storm calmed down.
When he came closer his nose caught the scent of something. Though Solomon couldn't quite tell what it was because of the rain. Reaching the beginning of the ridge he saw all sorts of small caves. Perfect. He waited a bit to let the rain spill the mud out of his coat before would climb towards them.

Lucile swallowed the part of the meat she had chewed off so she could make a proper introduction to the other cub. "Names Lucile...call me Lucy, Airi." The other cub was slightly older than her, bit bigger too. "You want some, I don't mind sharing." She nosed at the strip of meat currently laying across her paws. Well, normally she would've minded sharing but given the circumstances it was alright. It was only proper to be nice, they let her stay here after all and it wasn't her kill anyway. "Oh...new babies?" She smiled, then tore off another small a bit of meat off her piece. That explained the other smell that still hung lightly in the air.

Patch took a bite of the fresh meat. It was so much more delicious then the stuff Marne had given her. Though she was thankful for the medicine, it tasted like toad. She was glad that was all over. She was worried that the hand of death was upon her during the birth. She was very relieved. She snuggled up to Kahawa and watched the cubs who followed her when she moved. They looked a bit confused and worried as if they thought their food source was running away. "Good morning," she said happily to Kahawa.

The storm suddenly worsened. A howling gale tore through the valley, swirling into the cave, bringing with it rain and swirling the dirt. Lightning lit the sky and thunder cracked left and right. The worst part was upon them, and it forced the lions inside toward the back of the cave. The entrance was now entirely engulfed in rain, and it was impossible to see more than a few feet out of it. Torrential waters were undoubtedly flooding the once creek below. Now it was more of a wild rapids river, brown with mud and dangerous to any living creature caught in it's grasps.

Airi tore her gaze away from the herbs that Patch had just eaten. "Huh?" She said, her mind still drifting slightly. "Oh, share. That's be lovely!" A deep purr rumbled upwards through her throat as she bent down to take a bite from the meat. Just as her small fangs pressed down into the sweet, juicy flesh, there was a thunderous bolt of lightning that made the fur along her spine jolt up in fright.

Eyes wide, she stared as rain began to poor down harder and harder. The piece of meat was left unchewed in her mouth as she gazed. Blinking out of her daze, she swallowed the meat and began to move towards the back of the den. "C'mon. It'll be safer over there."

As the thunder cracked, Patch's happy-go-lucky morning mood shot back to worried mom mode. She buried her cubs in-between Kahawa and herself. Then her head snapped around to find Airi. She nervously watched her. It was an overreaction; Airi was traveling to the back of the cave, safe and sound.

Kero looked outside at the rain as it began flooding the earth outside. She had been out there only a few moments ago. She stood, eyes focused on the water, until it became unsafe to stay by the edge of the cave. Hopefully no one would have a near death experience today.

Saphira frowned as the rain poured harder on her. It was so cold that each drop stung her like thousands of bees. She stood up and decided to go back in the cave. The water had soaked her coat and each step was labored from the added weight. A trail of rainwater was left in her wake as she passed some of the other lions and went to the back of the cave, sitting a little ways away from the two older cubs. She didn't bother to lick herself dry but just sulked, staring at the distant entrance. The rain bored her now.

Lucile jumped as well when the lightning split the sky. The rain seemed to be getting steadily worse. The terrier colored cub nodded in agreement with Airi and stood, padding to the back of the cave, doing her best not to drag the remainder of the meat strip against the ground. "Outside is gonna be a mess." She shivered, imagining herself up to her leg joints in mud. "Do like the smell of the rain though."
