First this male was showing his teeth in warning, now he was smiling and implying that they were working together. Zahinas really were weird. Horizon never saw any Zahinas at night so this was her first encounter in a long wile.

Now she was about to shake her head and deny his offer. She worked alone. But there was two Dalins protecting that meat. Maybe this wacky Zahina could come in handy. He could probably take on one of the Dalins... maybe. And Horizon didn't need much to keep her alive. She would share if he pulled his weight.

Horizon followed him. What if he turned on her and tried to get all the meat for himself? That was a chance Horizon was willing to take. She figured there wasn't much he could do to her. She could take him. (Overconfident much)

As she moved she spotted another Dalin. This must have been the only food for a long way off.

When she got up to the blue lion she mumbled under her breath. "What? Do you have some ingenious plan or something? I’m sure it’s just as good as the plan to sneak in the middle of four Dalins." She wasn't very polite. Then again she didn't talk very often to anyone.

A dark snarl ripped through Ellipsis' throat, echoing around the quiet land around her. "Liar." She knew his kind all too well. She could smell them a mile away. "You live for nothing but your own pleasure. Even if I did let you hunt with me, you'd demand much more than the feast." She tensed, claws unsheathing as she prepared to defend herself. This lion would not get away with this. Sure, he was bigger than her and could take her any day, and he'd probably get his way, but she'd scar that pretty face of his permanently.

She bared her fangs, muscles tensing as she prepared to spring from her crouch, every movement fluid and perfectly balanced. Suddenly, her back legs exploded outwards behind her, lunging gracefully onto his back and digging her claws in as soon as she made contact. Her teeth moved downwards fast, hoping to bite into an ear, slice his nose. Red fury washed over her eyes, and she didn't even notice how feeble her attack was upon the huge lion. She didn't notice his low chuckle as her claws raked through flesh. She didn't notice as his muscles tensed to pull off a counter attack.

Ainesh smiled slightly to himself as she spoke. Well, he'd asked for wild, hadn't he? She wasn't going to be charmed as easily as the others. One second she was crouching, and the next she was a snarling ball of fur upon his back. Her movements gave her away before she sprung though, so he was ready. Staying still, he allowed her to catch him with her claws. He had to give her the impression that she'd won, didn't he? His eyes twitched slightly as he winced, although he didn't do anything else to show his discomfort. He'd had worse battle wounds than that.

Suddenly, a fierce crack of lightning struck the plains, lighting up the weeping sky. With a dark chuckle, he flipped over and through sheer raw power wrestled the lioness to the ground, pinning her between his paws. "Now, that's no way to be polite, is it?" He snarled menacingly. "But I'll let you off. I won't kill you. Just don't forget this.... favor I do." Oh, he would be back, and he would make her pay.

Suddenly, there was a whisper. The Da'lin spun around, a growl rising in his throat. "Who dares disturb me?"

'What a royal snob,' Horizon thought to herself. 'Oh excuse me for disturbing you.' She didn't speak but she snarled, still crouched in the grass beside the blue lion. She looked at the blue lion from the corner of her eye and mumbled to him once more. "I'll distract them. As far as they know you aren't here. You sneak away when you can."

Horizon wondered if she could take on the royal snob if the other lioness chipped in. Hopefully Zahinas weren't into goody goody heroics. He probably knew the smart thing to do. Horizon let her mussels tense up as se went into a pouncing position. She could take down prey many times her own size. This lion couldn't be too big a problem. He was only a fur-coated ego.

After Horizon's personal reassurance, she dove from the grass onto the lion. The pinned lioness was free to move now. Horizon clawed at his vitals. (Eyes, ears, paws, and chest) Inflicting blindness or any other hindrance was always her first goal in battle. So far it was rather difficult due to her soaked slippery fur and the faint light around them. Wait why was there a faint light? Horizon cocked her head and saw a strange glow from the grass. Something was doing a terrible job hiding.

Kero had walked a long distance to the spot of the meat. She crouched down low, knowing how easy it would be for anyone to spot her glow. Three lions were fighting probably for the meat. Maybe as the fought she could grab it and run. They were distracted.

Anyone but her could do a good job stealing the meat. Her glow would give her away in a heartbeat. Ten her eyes met Horizon's. Crud! She had been spotted.

Plan? Just to slowly and sneakily circle around the scuffle and run away with the carcass as silently as possible, obviously. But more importantly… Four? Four Da’lins?! Did he miss one? It took a bit of concentration but Malek managed to spot the second male in the grass. Great, just great. And, well… WHY ARE YOU SPEAKING OUT LOUD, FEMALE? Seriously was she trying to give his presence away to the others? Well she might as she had obviously realized he was a Zahina.

Still, he calmed his thoughts, nodded at her last whispered words and stared at her dumbfounded as she made her move against the striped lion. Mental. She had to be crazy. Not that the pale lion wasn’t getting on Malek’s nerves but honestly… what was she thinking? Was she really trusting him enough to just go along with the plan and share the carcass with her later? She was definitely feeling more and more like an accomplice and the blue lion was beginning to wonder if he shouldn’t just follow behind her in case she needed help. What silly thoughts to have concerning a Da’lin female!

Fine. He’ll do as she says. He feels obligated to now and perhaps that's her plan. Malek moves closer to the carcass until he spots something on the other side of his target. What’s that light? And is it… moving? Oh please… anything but another Da’lin.

Oh well that's just great! Damu thought by himself. Now that one of the two sneaky lions had come out of hiding his plan was shattered. Both females had attacked the large male but it didn't seem really effective. The other male was still in the grass though...too scared to follow after his newmade friend eh? He shouldn't dare trying to steal that carcass now! Quickly Damu thought about possible stragedies. Should he reveal himself and confront the striped male or... sneak after that bloody male and stop him. Either way he would be revealed but he was probably spotted already.

The latter seemed fine enough. Those two females could handle the other. Damu grinned an fastened his pace, trying to catch up. When he was almost there he saw something in the corner of his eye. An unusual glow...and it was moving. He didn't know what it was but it had definetely come to the wrong place.

Finally he could see the back of the blue male. Now that he was this close he could see that this male was different. Zahina. How uneasy for him to be in such company. "Well, what do we have here? Why didn't you follow after your little Da'lin friend?!" He snarled while coming out of his crouch. His cover was blown anyway so better make yourself big.

Ainesh snarled as he felt claws slice through the tender flesh around his ear. He rose back on his back paws, rearing up to double his impressive height. But before the lioness could even lay a paw upon his stomach, he brought his weight crashing down, using sheer force upon her to try and bring her down. He was a fighter. Not once exposing his throat, he let out a massive roar whilst his back legs pummeled the lioness as hard as he could.

Although his mind was focused entirely upon this orange lioness who was busily engaged in battle, he couldn't help but notice how many lions suddenly seemed to be swarming the place. Anger filled his mind. These lions, thinking they can walk all over him and steal his lioness? No. He would get her later anyway. His mind was cold and calculating, a deadly combination when mixed with fury. That brown lioness he'd been after had better be able to defend her kill better than she had defended herself against him.

Ellipsis growled as another lioness, a bright orange one, came flying at the lion she'd just been pinned down by. Eyes narrowed into slits, she watched without moving a paw. What? Did the stupid Da'lin think she would help her? Ha. Not likely. She was after one thing, and one thing only. Food. Swinging her head away, she chuckled darkly to herself. Let her become the lion's next prey. The orange one had done her a favor really, not that it mattered to Ellipsis. She felt no remorse, no need to pay her back for rescuing her.

Her head swung around as two other males began to confront each other. With a sly grin, she scanned the area. Everyone was squared off. Ah, a perfect opportunity. She would dart in, steal the carcass and run off before anyone else noticed. As she prowled forwards, one neat pawstep after another, a spark of light almost blinded her. With a growl, she swung her head around to apprehend whatever it was. Ah, another lion. Female.

A roar ripped its way through her throat as she charged straight at the bushes, pouncing with deadly accuracy at Kero's back, claws unsheathed.

Kero watched the second Dalin ungratefully walk from the scene. Typical. Kero didn't really believe that Dalins were the stereotypical jerks they're made out to be. This lioness did fit the standard unfortunately. Marne, on the other hand, didn't seem very Dalin-ish. He had helped Patch and everyone else in the cave. Maybe he was the only one.

Then the lioness spotted her. Crud, again. Couldn't anyone just think she was a swarm of fireflies? The lioness sprang onto Kero's back. As the claws sank in, Kero quickly turned her soaked body. She tried to get the lioness to slip off so she could fight back. She roared in pain.

Horizon felt her bones, nearly cracking, against the ground. The lion's movements were predictable. This battle would have ended in a heartbeat if he were only smaller. The way he pushed his weight around was simple but effective.

She didn't groan or cry. If he thought she would give up after a few crashes he was more foolish then she thought. She clamped her jaw near his shoulder.

Malek’s eyes darted from the female attacking the striped male to the Da’lin who was pouncing at the bright creature in the bushes. What a fine mess this was becoming… He was hardly surprised when the last hidden player approached him from behind. Malek too rose slowly in size, realizing there was no point in planning for stealth any further. Quite honestly, if it wasn’t for the fights starting around him, he would’ve simply given up his target. No point in getting injured if he could always live to fight another day. So why did he feel responsible for the outcome of the events now?

“Da’lin friend? Interesting choice of words.” Malek grinned fiercely turning to face the male. “I guess that carcass is worse than a shrieking wounded prey. It’s getting a bit crowded around here.”

Now what? Malek won’t be the first to attack but he doubts any cooperation will be possible at this point. Oh, well. Might as well have some fun… his tail waves playfully from side to side as he awaits the Da’lin’s reaction.

As far as normal lionesses go, it is clear Ari is a little on the small size and even though she’s still very young, it seems the spotty female has already grown as much as she ever will. So that’s probably why she’s decided not to interfere with the fight.

Truth be told, the sight of the carcass is tempting and she can’t deny that being an inexperienced rogue lioness hasn’t been exactly easy lately. But how can she leave without alerting all those Da’lins to her presence? No, it is best to remain hidden.

Damu grinned back darkly at the blue male. "Maybe you're right about that. This is a mess and I don't want that carcass badly anyway. But then again..." He turned his head towards the striped male. Better make the best out of it. He still had some business with him. Learning a lesson about how you treated a female was exactly what that oaf needed. "I think we are done with each other, now I have other things to attend to. Do what you want from here on." He had to cut things short, finish his stuff here and be onward again. There was nothing to get here anymore.

Manes and fur bristling up he turned towards the light lion. He burst into a short sprint and dug his nails into the earth right before he reached him. Just as he wanted his stopped right before the male. Mud spatted all up as a result of his little ploughing. A loud snarl escaped from his mouth and his paw, claws fully unsheated, rushed towards his opponent. He wanted to make sure he left him with a small present.

Ellipsis felt the lioness shake beneath her, and with a disgusted grunt leaped off, making sure to drag her claws over her back before dismounting. Whipping around with lightning speed, she growled as she face the she-lion. A bright purple thing, with odd glowing spots. How did that lion even hunt? No wonder she was over here trying to scavenge some meat. A loud snarl shuddered through her, eyes narrowed and tail lashing behind her.

The rain continued to pour down by the bucketful around them, making it harder to see the opponent she faced. "I was here first." She growled, a dark and menacing sound. "The deer is my kill now." With that, she darted forwards and threw her paw out, attempting to rake her claws sharply against the purple abomination's face.

A mere second later, she whipped back to her old place as though she'd never moved, eyes narrowed. "Get. Out. Of. Here." Each word was spat out forcefully, like venom flying from the fangs of a snake. Her red eyes flashed dangerously. Now was not a good time to get in her way.

Sharp teeth sliced through the thin layer of flesh around his shoulders, cutting through muscle and scraping against the bone underneath. Ainesh leaped back, a ground-shaking roar erupting from him as sheer agony laced up his spine. The lioness had had a lucky bite, hitting a nerve. With murderous eyes, he glared at her. She couldn't be that well off. If he hadn't broken any of her bones, he'd certainly bruised her enough for the wounds to not fade for months.

And all of a sudden, something big and heavy came crashing down on top of him. Damu. Normally, he would have held up against it, but the muscles on his shoulder strained and collapsed. His leg buckled, sending himself against the floor. Blood oozed out of the bite, adding to the scent of anger, confusion and hate that circled the air. Claws dug sharply into his skin, making him wince. Thinking fast, he rolled quickly, attempting to either completely squash, or at least stun the lion upon him for a second.

The thunder and lightning got closer and more intense by the second. Kero looked at the Dalin lioness with a glare. She didn't want to walk away after an attack like that. But couldn't allow herself to run back to the female with claws and fangs blared either. So, she just stood glaring. The scent of lion blood began to make her dizzy. The sound of cracking bones and growls echoed though her head. Kero thought she was going to throw up. She never thought that she'd be faint of heart in a situation like this.

Today was too much. Mud was caked to her flesh. She had witnessed the birth and death of a cub. Now this fight... it was too much for Kero's starved exhausted disturbed body to take. The lioness Kero glared at began to look blurry. Next thing she knew, her head hit the mud with a splash and her bloody body lay limp. Now was not a good time to experience the first faint of her life.

Horizon, on the other hand, was still fighting the large male she had chosen to take on. Another lion decided to come to her rescue give the stripped lion a reality check. The stripped lion was no longer crushing her to the ground so she moved a good distance away. She had gone enough for her own good.

Horizon's body was still at the peak of its hormonal rush of energy. She would be in a lot of pain when this was all over but right now she was too busy deciding the next coarse of action. Was the blue boy safe?

Horizon looked over to the grass only to see a glowing passed out lioness coated in red tainted mud. Horizon stepped over to her and checked to see if she was dead. There's no way anything killed her in the few seconds wile Horizon was fighting. Well, she was breathing. Good for her. Horizon checked where the blood came from. If she was more of a talker she would have said, "Cry me a river. You get a scratch down your back and you decide it's faint worthy Princess?" Horizon splashed some water in her face and walked away from her, again searching the grass for that Zahina.

Malek nodded as the red Da’lin moved away from him, ignoring the thought of giving the male a playful bow that could be misinterpreted as a mocking gesture. There seemed to be some sense in that one’s head at least… or that’s what he thought before the male also joined the brawl. What was wrong with these lions? Weren’t they supposed to be the cunning type? Was the crushing rain bringing them so close to despair that they were losing their minds? Wasn’t avoiding an injury the most important thing right now?

Those were Malek’s thoughts up to the point where he realized Ellipsis was jumping on another female. There were no horns on that bright head… a Zahina! It might’ve been because he was feeling so alone in the middle of all those Da’lins but Malek felt an immediate connection towards the odd female and ran towards her at full speed, almost colliding with Horizon on the way – in an instant the blue male realized he was oddly relieved the red female was alright. He jumped in front of Ellipsis placing himself between Da’lin and Zahina, his tense body shaking with a sort of primal excitement, paws slipping through the thick mud about a feet until he finally stopped, snarling all the while.

Ignoring the tantalizing smell of the carcass, he roared a vicious threat, a simple “Back off!” before realizing he should keep his intentions clear.

“Take it then. Just leave.”

Ari shook on the spot as the fights kept changing partners right in front of her eyes. She was in way over her head. She’d never been in a serious fight before and the ominous clouded sky, the brutal rain and the vicious sounds all around her gave the area a daunting feeling. She just wanted to get out of there!

She crouched even lower, trying her best to go unnoticed in the midst of the muddied bodies of all those lions that she had assumed were Da’lins.

Soon his claws hit the soft flesh of Ainesh. Bingo! He put all his weight on top of the lion, managing to get him on the ground. Now he could feel what he did to those ladies. The scent of blood filled the air around them. All Damu could hear were the sounds of snarls, winces and ripping wounds. It was one big frenzy.

Suddenly the lion beneath him rolled over. It confused him for a second, but it was too late before he could act. The lion rolled against his legs with full power making him trip and fall over him. Now they were lying both on the ground. Damu snapped his head back, but his sight was still blurry from the mud. He had to keep Ainesh in sight though, and on the ground till he was up himself. He roared and stomped his back legs against the striped males stomach. This would be a rough fight.

Ellipsis snarled fiercely as another lion intercepted her. Were all the males around here so pumped full of testosterone that they'd lost their minds? Did he think she was afraid? Or did he think he was doing that purple abomination some kind of favor so he could go and knock her up later? With a snarl, she faced him, adrenaline filling her. Her mind screeched at her to swipe her claws against his ugly, smug face. But no. She tore herself away. She wasn't going to get herself even more hurt, when he didn't even want to fight. Coward. The thought flashed through her mind, slicing through the air between them. She wanted to scream it at him, but sometimes silence said more than words. Maybe he would hear her silent taunting anyway.

Turning her back, she darted quickly towards the almost forgotten about carcass. It smelled so good. Ducking her head, she plunged her teeth into it and started to drag it through the mass of seething lions. Yes! She was victorious! No one had noticed her so far, and they all looked too distracted to care about food right now.

A brief surge of satisfaction flashed through Ainesh as his opponent went limp. Yes! His tactic had worked. It only lasted for a second though. Before he could even get up, Damu was pounding his back legs against his stomach. His poor, soft underbelly. The agony that rolled through him was enough to make his eyeballs roll back into the base of his skull. A wordless roar froze on his lips, fire raging through him with each swipe.

A deep instinct rose within him. Survive. His own legs churned into motion, hitting the other lion's belly with power equal to that of Damu's strikes. He lunged towards, his teeth snapping desperately at the lion in front of him. Fury rose within him, overpowering any over sensations, even those of pain. His claws slashed out with more violence as he fought to rise to his paws and pin the other male down. Sweet victory was on the tip of his tongue. He didn't even hear the loud rumbling overhead as the clouds charged up, preparing to send down a lightning bolt straight amongst the brawl.

BANG!

The noise hit Ellipsis a nanosecond before the bolt of lightning did. It struck her squarely in the back. Pure energy roared through her in the form of an electric current. White flashed before her eyes as her body spasmed uncontrollably. Wave after wave of sheer agony came until she wished she as dead. She could feel her fur being singed off, smell the burning flesh that was hers, but she could do nothing about it.

For a second, her heart stopped as another wave of agony rolled through her. Her legs crumpled beneath her as everything blacked out. The bolt of lightning died away, leaving silence behind. Almost undetectable, the lioness drew a small breath as her heart spluttered weakly back into motion. She was alive, but for how long?

Even if Malek wasn’t particularly pleased about the female’s eyes – eyes that seem to shout something he wouldn’t like to hear – the blue male forced his gaze to match Ellipsis’ as she snarled and then moved away. It was not without a sense of defeat that he watched her get closer to the carcass but Malek stood his ground and resolutely dropped his head to grab the odd purple lioness by the scruff of the neck in order to pull her to a safer location. He never did manage to touch her. As Ellipsis got suddenly struck by the unmerciful lightning bolt, Malek was startled, freezing on the spot. For a few moments all he could do was look at the burned Da’lin, with dilated nostrils and mouth slightly agape almost as if he was trying to make sense out of the situation. And then, without thinking, the male slowly stepped closer to Ellipsis and took a moment to inspect the limp body. Was she breathing… could one really survive something like that?

“Oi…” he whispered softly as he nudged her with a cautious paw and to him it sounded as if he was shouting amidst the eerie silence that had fallen over the broken fight.

-----------------

Ari, on the contrary, seemed to have been awoken from a very deep sleep by the deadly bolt. It was if her mind had suddenly become clear – or perhaps she merely began to act on instinct. The spotted female dragged her lowered body through the mud as she neared the carcass. She could almost touch it. There was no way she could outrun all the other lions but Ari knew that if she could just grab that deliciously scented meal and drag it up the closest tree, she might actually find herself relatively safe from harm.
