Kyra felt him pull away quickly from her mind. He went away so quickly that it hurt her head for an isntent. She stopped and put her hand her her head, looking at him confused. "What's wrong?" she asked forgetting he was deaf. She rubbed her forehead where it hurt as she looked at him.

((why thank you 4laugh i like the green outfit better i think i'll put that one on))

((Nice!))

Ulruu looked at her confused face. He had accidentally hurt her, and he looked apologetically at her face. There were bigger things at hand, though. The tranquility of the forest was disturbed by his rejection of the magic. The life and beauty of the place was slowly becoming plain in his sight. He sighed and looked down at his hands. He realized that the elven blood that ran through his veins were now a little bit weaker than before. The signs were written clearly on his hands. They were neutral, not too much demon-like and not too elf-like.

The wolves sensed it as well. The alpha female almost growled in protest. The male just looked up warily at the other male. Ulruu shook his head. He sat down and looked at the ordinary forest. His mind reached out delicately as he sent her an explanation.

It seems that my blood is mixing evenly. My elven side is weakened, so I've lost the image. The forest that was beautiful in elven eyes is now ordinary. I can't feel the music throughout the area as I once had. It's different. I'm sorry for hurting you. This takes time to adjust to, so please forgive me.

Kyra shook her head. Nah i'll live not big deal. What are you mixed with anyway? I know you're an elf from your ears but that's it. Does it have anything to do with that other voice from the memory? She sat down in front of him, elbow on her knee and chin in her hand. She was willing to listen. If you don't want to talk about it then that's fine, i'll understand but just so you know i will not judge you. It's how i am so don't be afraid to tell me anything. She looked at him patiently, smiling innocently.

Ulruu stiffened at her words as they echoed in his mind. He couldn't help it. Years of experience had taught him that those were the starting words to pain. Whether it was his or theirs, there was always pain. Amber orbs pierced the woman's eyes. She looked sincere enough. He sighed and rubbed his inky black hair. Amber eyes lowered to his palms.

What are you, as well? What was your occupation? Forgive my forwardness, but knowing these things will help me explain things.

She nodded. No worries i understand. Well i'm human and i am an assassin...well an ex-assassin seeming i died or at least i think i did...i'm pretty sure i did. I was one of the best there was. Kyra Wolf the shadow walker they call me. She started to laugh light heartedly at her nickname. Once she settled down she smiled at him again. You think people wouldn't lable someone until they get the know you right? It's such a pain...is there anything else you'd like to know about me or is that it?

Ulruu tilted his head to the side. You are dead? A frown striked against his features as he thought of what that implied about him. It seems like this was not a dream. His torture was nonexistant, then. This was not an illusion of peace, unless she was lying. She could be lying without intending to.

He glanced her over again. An assassin that could look so innocent and happy. Did she not feel remorse for the lives she robbed others of? However, he shook himself of the thought. So far, she had been kind. And, he would play along with this'dead' concept for now.

Does that mean that...Am I dead?

Kyra shrugged. I have no idea. All i know was that i was stabbed in the back by my friend, litterally. Freaking hurt too, but i'm not mad at her, in fact i hope that she's alright right now. Last i heard was that another group of assassins that my group or clan however you want to put it, that we were against, captured her sister and it wasn't like an older sister but a younger. She was only 10 and they captured her. She shook her head angerly. By the way you looked at me, you seem to be wondering how i can seem innocent and happy. Well all my targets were the ones that were taking advantage of civilians and innocents like Jennifer's 10 year old sister. She shrugged. But i guess that i could have healed or something and just ended up here but i highly dout it. The dagger she used on me was dipped in poison, got that from a dude who was another assassin. Picked his pocket and found a copy of the order...maybe you are alive just your spirit found it's way here to escape something. Spirits do that all the time i did so either that or you didn't remember dying. Most spirit that pass over have no memories of their death but ones will a strong will remember. She lifted her head from her hand and placed her hands in her lap. Have you tried to remember what happened to you or do you have the memory and just don't pay attention to it? That's the problem sometimes, some spirits have the memory but they ignore it and live life in their own fanatsies cause it is hard to leave everything behind so they just make their own world like the one they left and live like that. But who knows i could be alive and just got stuck here until i remember how to get back. She laughed at herself. Happened to me once and my teach had to drag my a** back to the real world. I was so confused that i had to have a lavender smelling necklace on for week to help me remember. She shook her head. Listen at me i just can't seem to shut up. The woman inside is finally out. she laughed at her comment. So any questions? I know alot of the spirit world, you'd be surprised at how many actually stay in or world. I should know i can see them if i want.

Ulruu took in all of her story. He grimaced at the thought of a friend's betrayal. The idea of not being dead rolled around in his head. His mind skimmed over the summary of his death. He tried to keep it away from her. Even without going into details, it was hard to relive. The flash of light, the collapsing building, and warm, sticky fluid gushing on either side of his head. Then, the pain of an enormous weight on his body, burning flesh, and choking on the smoke filled air. At first, he had thought it was an illusion that the group was pulling. Unfortunately or fortunately, it seemed like he had died afterall. He cautiously guided his emotions to become calm.

I understand killing to survive, to better the world. I too kill to survive. And, I...I do remember my death very well. Was life better for you when you were with your friends?

Kyra was shocked by his question. She thought it for a while. I-i only had one true friend she was deaf like you but she...uh...she died in an accident. I guess you could say it was a little easier but its easy to gain a friend. The worst pain in the world isn't dying but losing a friend, that's the worst feeling in the world. I guess it could work both ways, having no friends is easy for no pain but you feel lonely and having a friend can leave to happiness and you have someone to talk to but once they leave you still end up alone and hurting. Either way you end up hurting. She shook her head, letting it hang low. She let out a sigh and her vision became blurry. She let out a breath and took control of her emotions again. She looked up at him. There is no way to escape pain, it's just part of life. I think that....i think that neither is an easy path to follow. With friends there's a trust and you don't feel alone but you somehow end up hurting one and with being alone without a friend, well you don't have to worry about hurting anyone or about trust but you're the one left hurting in the end because...well...you're alone. That's the best i can sum it up.

Ulruu shrugged. He had just been curious. As a half breed, he hadn't had friends. He hadn't thought of a solitary life as lonely. It was better than forcing your presence on others because you knew that you were to be tolerated. The veiled disgust behind others' eyes. It was...irritating. He felt a bit of her emotions wash over him. It was foriegn...the feeling of loss.

I was curious. I never had a friend. In my life, people are...well, they don't bring good things. Shutting people out is easier. There is no pain. There is no loneliness. In truth, I found peace by being alone. No one could hurt me. In turn, I could not hurt anyone.

He thought all of this to her monotonously. They were truths that brought him comfort. Ulruu didn't like people. He prefered animals. They didn't connive and plot behind each others' backs. Instead, they were straight forward and would show aggression to get what they wanted. Manipulation was not a concern for them.

She let out a sigh. Honestly i think we feel lonely cause we are human. Some need a feeling of belonging and friends provide it. When Emma died that's when i got more in touch with the elements of nature. I watched the trees dance, the wind play, fire celebrate and began to understand the water's constant mood changes. Animals are much easier to read and understand along with nature. Once Emma died, i stayed away from people until i ran into Jennifer and well it felt...different from before. It was like it was hard to trust her in the beginning while animals you can rely on, you know? They don't hold anything against you and they are more....i don't know trust worthy. She began to run her fingers through the grass. She looked up at the sky, seeing birds fly. She smiled at the sight of them looking free. She started to hear the birds sing in the distance. She kept her mind open to the sounds, projecting them accidently into his mind. She looked back at the man smiling as she did. Sorry but i didn't catch your name? What is it?

Ulruu listened to her voice taper off. He caught wind of the sounds that surrounded them. It was...nice to hear again. He had had sharp ears when he was alive, and to experience the sensation second hand was humbling. He reflected on what she said carefully.

It's a good thing that I am not human then. Animals are as reliable as they are able to be.

My name is Ulruu. What is yours?

((Scratch that last question...))
PostPosted: Sun Mar 14, 2010 11:46 am

((ok))

She nodded. I agree. She played his name in her head over and over again. Ulruu...hmm...i like it sounds better then Kyra. She smiled at him. The female wolf walked up to Kyra and layed down next to her, putting her head in her lap. Kyra started to pet the wolf's head and scratch behind her ears. A breeze came and blew her hair in her face. She laughed but left her hair alone as the wind played in it. She figured there was no point in fixing it yet seeming that it'll just get mess up again.

Ulruu avoided staring as he heard his name being tested in another's mind. He stared questioningly at Kyra with a small smile when she compared the names. It was an amusing social error that many humans had made when he had lived with the elves. He didn't mind, though. Social errors were just protections for another's esteem.

It's so odd that humans compare things to themselves. To say one thing is better than the other is very subjective. No offence, but what is the point exactly? Is it a compliment to put oneself down to raise the esteem of another? Or is it something else?
