Hmph! Of course he was grumpy! You try being a rabbit who was suddenly drenched with water and see how -you- feel! It wasn't that Tauron was always grumpy, he just worried, perhaps more than he needed. Having been at Awinita's side since she was a cub, could one really blame him? How much had they been through together, adventures, mishaps, SIBLINGS TRYING TO EAT HIM! But he supposed he wouldn't trade his friendship with that gentle lioness for anything. Grumpy though he may have been, he truly cared for her.
"They're beautiful, Tauron come look!"
"They're lovely."
He was less than enthused, but the little lioness didn't notice. She had already buried her nose into the beautiful blossoms, inhaling deeply to enjoy the scent.
"Thank you Helaku!"
She smiled, bounding to his side to brush against him in her own version of a hug before her attention returned to the flowers. They were so pretty, she liked flowers.

Helaku could definitely get used to this cuddling and hugging thing. It seemed to generally mean Nita was happy, and he already very much liked seeing her happy. She was just...infectious, that was what she was, that infectious sort of happiness that everyone could use more of. He wanted to make sure that never faded.
Bumping his head against her shoulder gently, he smiled. "You're very welcome."
Hmm...maybe he should ask someone to explain certain customs in detail...

Awinita was oblivious as she always was, completely unaware of whatever Helaku was thinking or feeling. At that moment she was far to occupied with burying her nose in those beautiful flowers to notice anything. Ah, such a beautiful scent.
If only she had noticed...
bzzz...buzzz...buzzbuzzBUZZ!!
Yipe!
The lioness gave a sudden yelp, a jump, then ran to hide behind Helaku, an angry bee chasing her all the way. She ran one way, then the other, always trying to hide behind him, how did the bee keep finding her?

"Wha...?" Helaku jerked in a startled motion, muscles tensing as the peaceful moment shattered. Nita'd been hurt?! And now Nita was...hiding behind him? His expression the picture of worried confusion, he turned to ask her what was wrong...
And stepped squarely on another bee.
With a bellow of pain, Helaku leapt forward, wildly shaking one hind paw to try to shake the nasty little insect off. Ow ow ow ow OW ow owww...it hurt, it hurt! Whining under his breath he tried to look for more bees, determined to keep any more of the things from stinging either of them. When he spotted the one that was chasing Nita a paw shot out, slapping it away from her. He hoped that kept it away--he didn't want to upset Nita by killing it!

"Please don't sting me!"
She gave a whine, still running around Helaku until she finally tried ducking underneath him with her paws covering her face. Oh please don't sting me, mr bee! I just wanted to smell the pretty flowers, we can share can't we?
Tauron had seen it coming. Shoving her nose into flowers, Nita was bound to find one occupied by a bee, it was only a matter of time. Oh, but this time she had dragged someone else into it. He'd have been laughing hysterically were he not holding perfectly still, hiding in the grass so the bees didn't sting -him-. Welcome to my world, Helaku.
The buzzing had stopped, a momentarily stunned bee flying off to wherever it had come from. Nita dared to peek out from under her paws.
"Is it gone?"

Helaku froze awkwardly as Nita dove under him. DANGER, WILL ROBINSON! His hind paw burned where he'd been stung, but he didn't dare move--what if Nita moved as he did and he stepped on her? He really didn't want to do that...
...But the bee seemed to be gone. More importantly, he didn't see any more. For now. His head upside down as he peered at her, he nodded. "I think so...maybe Tauron would like to help us check?"

Her eyes uncovered, she looked one way then the other, not quite convinced it was gone. Her ears twitched, searching for any sound, was it really gone? She didn't hear any buzzing, whew, it was safe.
Looking up at Helaku from where she had hidden, Nita smiled, scooting forward enough to lick his nose before she scooted out from under him and stood up.
"Thank you."
He had shown her such pretty flowers and saved her from the bees, she really liked him.
Tauron gave a snort, hiding a huff of laughter. He'd stayed there unseen by the bees the entire time, or at least he hadn't angered them by shoving his nose in their flowers. Oh, poor poor Helaku, just wait, this is only the beginning.
"I'm sure you're safe, provided you don't go shoving your nose in their flowers again."

Oh good, she was alri--oh, that was nice. Unexpected, but nice. Helaku could feel his cheeks heating, and he was really really glad that it would be hard to see that through his fur. "I, uh, I...I couldn't just let you get chased if I could stop it, could I?" he managed to get out, stammering a little before he steadied his voice. "They're probably nothing much, but we should get these stings looked at just in case." Rising to his feet (favoring his stung hind paw slightly), he paused before making an 'after you' gesture with his head instead of a forepaw.
"Shall we?"

She hadn't noticed he'd been stung, though it may have seemed obvious that she should have (Tauron had seen it in any case). While she surely would feel bad when she did realize it, at that moment nothing could discourage that silly little smile of hers despite the sting she had taken to the nose.
"Okay."
Not that she didn't feel fine, naive and clueless though she was, Awinita was also a tough little lioness, whatever pain (and lesson) she had found quickly forget only moments after. And now she was with Helaku, her knight in fuzzy armor, nothing could have brought her down.
Tauron shook his head, following behind the lions. Something told him his life was going to get a lot more complicated.

Helaku was starting to get that feeling, too, but it was a good feeling. He needed this sort of complicated in his life. Limping a little (pawpads could be surprisingly tender), he began to escort Nita home.
With her around, he had a feeling he wouldn't have much time for boredom.
