Helaku was settling in nicely. While the pride was understandably wary of outsiders, they seemed willing to give him a chance. It wasn't something that bothered him a great deal.
What did bother him was that his first meeting with that gentle lioness had started off so terribly wrong. Despite having turned it around into a decent encounter, he still felt guilty. So, he was going to make up for it. Trotting towards the place they'd run into each other, he hoped that luck would work in his favor today.

If only he had known, he might not have been so eager to find her. Oh but it was much too late now, she had already deemed him her friend, there was no escaping that bright, bubbly, and naive little lioness. Sorry Helaku, you're stuck with her.
Humming a song she had made up herself, Awinita was bounding happily on her way, still not watching where she was going, and still not listening to Tauron. Alas, she had not learned, it seemed she never would, but perhaps that was part of her charm.
"Nita, please be careful."
"I am."
But she wasn't, at least not careful enough for the rabbit's tastes. Sigh, she was going to be the death of him one of these days.
"Do you think Helaku is around?"
She hoped he was, she liked him, he was a good friend.

While many of the Ela'wadiyi had earthy pelts, and even more were covered in tattoos, Helaku perked his ears in recognition at the sight of the lioness. Even if you didn't consider Tauron at her side, Nita practically exuded a happiness that was difficult to mistake for anyone else.
...Tauron looked less than thrilled, though...odd. Whyever would that be?
"Nita!" He called out, jogging towards her. "How are you today?"

Wrong? Oh nothing could possibly be wrong, nothing at all. Tauron would have burst out laughing at he known the lion was thinking the question. Just you wait Helaku, that gopher? Oh that was only a taste of the exuberant little lioness, you haven't seen anything yet.
She had been looking up at the sky at that moment, watching a fluffy white cloud drifting by, noting that it looked a lot like a bunny. A cute fluffy white bunny (she wondered if there were any real white bunnies).
Oh, someone had spoken her name. An ear twitched, she turned, it was Helaku!
"Helaku!"
Happily she bounded to meet him, a broad grin on her maw.
"Hi!"

"Hello to you too." Chuffing in happy greeting, Helaku returned Nita's grin with one nearly as wide. There was just something about her that made him want to drop anything he was worrying about, just to be happy along with her. Nita had taken no lasting psychological damage from the Gopher Incident, which allowed him to move on to the other reason he'd come here. "Want to see something neat? I found it the other day."

Awinita didn't stop until she had bounded a full circle and a half around Helaku, finally ending with a playful head butt against his side and a happy chirp. Heeee, she had found her friend again! Or maybe he'd found her, either way, yay!
Oh but her attention was instantly captivated. Something neat? What kind of something? It sounded exciting! She hoped it was something pretty, or fluffy!
"Okay!"
Grin!
Facepaw! Any objection Tauron may have had, or warnings he may have given about WATCHING WHERE SHE WAS GOING was lost.

"Alright then..." Glancing at Tauron with a 'sorry, but we're having fun' grin, he gently nudged Nita to make sure he had her attention. Once she was at least looking in his direction his grin widened to something distinctly mischievous, and his burnished-gold eyes lit with a playful spark. "Follow me!"
And with that, he was off like a shot (keeping his strides short so she could catch up, but she didn't have to know that).

Wow he was fast!
"Wait up!"
Awinita was after him before Tauron could say a word. The rabbit was not happy about this! Were they even thinking about where they were running off to? Just what he needed, ANOTHER ONE!
Grumbling, Tauron was forced to run after them, good thing being a rabbit meant he was fast. It could have been worse, at least she hadn't picked him up as she had so often insisted on when she was younger, oh but if she had tried he'd have BOXED HER EARS!
"Where...are we...going?"
She spoke through breathes, running along side Helaku as best she could.

As far as Helaku was concerned, Tauron didn't need to worry. His eyes were constantly flicking ahead, scanning the ground for holes and other pitfalls that could turn a carefree run into a disaster. As Nita pulled up beside him, he glanced over with a smile.
"And...ruin the...surprise? It's not...far."
Pulling his gaze back to looking ahead, it wasn't much longer before he slowed down near a water hole, a few trees and such around it. "Now...see if you can find what's special about this spot."

She gave him a sulking look, but it had quickly faded in the excitement as she ran at his side, the wonder of what the surprise must be dancing through her mind. Oh she just couldn't wait to see! What was it? Was it something pretty? Was it--
Oops!
Splash!
Caught in her thoughts, Awinita had skidded right into the water, splashing water everywhere, sending fish running for their lives. ACK THAT WAS COLD! Brrrr!
Facepaw! Tauron shook his head, sigh, he knew that was going to happen...at least there were no crocodiles around.

Helaku winced, first at the loud splash of Nita falling into the water...and then at the FREEZING COLD water splashing over him. Coldcoldcoldcoldcoldcoldcold! But cold or not, Nita was still in there, and he needed to make sure that she was okay. "Are you alright? Did you hurt yourself?" he called out, pacing along the water's edge.
...
"You can swim, right?" he added with a worried expression, preparing to leap in if any of those answers were negative.

The water may have been cold, but her spirit was as warm as ever. A silly little grin on her maw, Nita swam her way back to shore. Well, it wasn't quite so cold once you got used to it.
If one were observant, they might have noticed the hint of mischief in that grin as her paws reached dry land. Uh-oh, TOO LATE! The lioness gave a vigorous shake, flinging the water from her hide, most certainly drenching anyone who had not fled first.
Hehehehe.
Tauron grumbled, having only realized what she was up to after it was too late. OH GOD THAT WAS COLD! And now he was drenched, great, just what he needed.

Helaku supposed that it was a very good thing that he was already wet. His face scrunched up as more cold water splashed over him, but at least it didn't seem as shockingly frozen as the last time. And Nita was none the worse for wear, which was the important part.
Now to find what they'd come here for... "It should be...ah, over here! But slowly--I don't think you want to step on it before you've seen it." Pushing some brush aside Helaku revealed a plant that looked rather out of place among the others, although it was hard to pinpoint exactly how. Maybe it was because it was the only one that had several white-and-dark-pink flowers, fluttering gently as they extended from long stems.
"Worth the trip?"

Oh the glare the rabbit was giving the both of them! He was a rabbit, not a fish, he did not appreciate being drenched. Hmph! Well fine then, go get in trouble, play with your new friend, don't even apologize.
Nita would have apologized to poor Tauron, but alas her attention had been captivated before she had a chance to say the words. Ooooh! What had Helaku found?
She had bounded over to see (did that lioness ever just walk?), her head lowered to peer at the flowers. Wow! They were beautiful! Sniff, sniff, and they smelled nice too. Apparently she wasn't the only one who thought so, eyes blinking as she noticed a butterfly fluttering nearby.
"Wow."

She liked it! A goofy grin spread across Helaku's muzzle, his tail coiling as he sat to watch her investigate the flowers. Sure, everyone was dripping water (even Tauron, who looked less than thrilled--Helaku was starting to think this was a permanent expression), but she liked his surprise!
"I went to get water here one day, and there they were," he explained. "I felt bad about what happened the other day, so I thought I'd show these to you since...they're pretty."
