"Oh ..." Reichelle paused as they both arrived at the library. "I work here," she replied, looking truly puzzled by the coincidence that the two of them would be going to the same place at the same time. It's an omen, the angel thought, her mind suddenly going from puzzled to paranoid. Darkly-clad, photosensitive young women follows me to the library? Reichelle shook her head, mentally scolding herself for being so judgemental. The coincidence meant nothing; it was merely a coincidence. "And you?" the angel inquired.

"I just love it here. Books are one of the few things I have that actually give me pleasure. Watching television is boring, you just sit back and watch. But with books, you're actually involved, because you imagine the story as you read it. That's why I'm here. That, and to talk to my friend online." Asmaria said. "Don't worry, I know your policy about 'No Private Email' and all that jazz, I use forums to talk to her." she added as the woman looked at her.

"Ah, very good," Reichelle replied, then opened the door and bid Asmaria enter. "Enjoy your visit then." After the girl walked inside, she followed after her, heading to the front desk to clock in and get to work.

Asmaria smiled as she entered the library, looking around her at the shelves upon shelves of books. She headed over to the science fiction section and chose a few titles she hadn't read in awhile, then went over to a computer and typed in her library card number. The counter started at two hours and began to tick down as the browser opened. Asmaria quickly typed a website into the address bar, then logged onto the forums. Almost immediately, a box popped up telling her she had a private message. She clicked the "Okay" button and read the message. "I missed you so much!" it read. Asmaria hit the reply button and typed, "I missed you, too. *kisses*"

Reichelle paid no more attention to Asmaria as the girl selected some books and headed to the computer. Instead, she began her work, looking at the cart of books loaned from other libraries that had arrived that morning, and the box beneath the book return slot. First things first- she pulled the cart over to her, then opened up a program on the computer to tell her who had requested which books. Sliding out a piece of paper from beneath the counter in front of her, she began to tear it into strips and write down names, then slipped the pieces of paper into the books.

Asmaria turned her attention back to the woman. There was something odd about her optimism. It was almost too much for Asmaria to bear, and it was beginning to rub off on her. Who could be so cheery as to make a vampire look at the bright side? Asmaria thought about this and could only think of one answer: an angel. Asmaria decided now was as good a time as any to test that theory. She pierced her finger with her fang, and, as the blood flowed from the wound, she took control of it, molding its shape with her mind until it had formed a sword. Well, if she was going to reveal herself to this woman, she might as well go all out. She threw off her trenchcoat, and her bat wings came out of her back, opening to their full span as she shouted at the woman, "Hey, goody-two-shoes! Let's go!"

As Reichelle was finishing the last of the interlibrary loan books, the oddly distinguishable copper scent of blood reached her senses. Slowly she looked up from her work to see who had cut themselves. First she glanced at the other librarians; maybe one of them had gotten a papercut. But no, no one seemed to be nursing any fingers. Who could it be then.

Suddenly, the girl Reichelle had met outside, lept from her chair, throwing off the dark coat she'd been wearing. Large, menacing bat wings sprung from between her shoulders and Reichelle's first reaction was surprise, and stunned silence. Shaking herself from her shocked state, Reichelle willed herself to think quickly. This girl wasn't just photosensitive- she was a vampire. And this vampire wasn't just here to scare innocent people, she was here to fight Reichelle. Had this demon been sent specifically to find her or had it just been mere coincidence? Maybe the vampire had guessed Reichelle was an angel and wanted to test her hypothesis.

Gah! I can figure that out later! the angel told herself, as people around them began to scream and back away from the winged monster in the library. We can't fight in here; innocent people might get hurt. Reichelle glanced at the library door. And we can't fight out there, because there are too many other innocent people that might get hurt. Reichelle sighed in frustration, her eyes darting back and forth between the demon and the front door. I should evacuate everyone ...

She reached around behind her and pulled the fire alarm, causing more panic than Reichelle had been anticipating, but nonetheless, it got people to actually move to the door, or out of the fire exits. One of the other librarians grabbed Reichelle's arm, begging for her to come outside.

"No, you go!" Reichelle said to the other librarian above the shrill din of the fire alarm. "I'll be right out." The other woman nodded and hesitantly left Reichelle standing behind the counter, simply staring at the demon who was poised to fight. If I just stand here, maybe she'll think she was wrong. I could come up with an excuse not to fight her. Of course, I'm sure she knows by now that I'm no human. Should I just fight her? This was the new dilemma gnawing at the back of the angel's mind as the last of the library's patrons filtered out of the building.

The woman was just standing there. Perhaps Asmaria had been wrong? Even if she was, this woman had seen her transformation, and thus had to be taken care of, lest she warn others of the presence of vampires. She would deal with the people that had rushed out the door in due time, right now, her focus was on the woman. There was a great wind throughout the library as Asmaria flapped her gossamer wings and took to the air. She flew toward the woman, her bloodsword out in front of her to impale her.

As the demon moved to attack her, Reichelle made up her mind. She knew that the vampire was going to take care of her either way, whether or not she was an angel. And besides, she still had a duty to protect the people outside.

Her dark and light contrasting locks blew about her face as Asmaria's winds struck up a strong wind inside the building. Reichelle watched, standing still and silent, as she took to the air, then dove straight for her. Out of reflex, white wings with long, glistening feathers suddenly sprang from Reichelle's back, lifting her out of her enemy's way. She hovered about ten feet away from Asmaria, her long wings nearly causing the bookshelves to topple over.

Asmaria collided with the ground on which the angel used to stand. She turned around to face her. "Well, well, you finally reveal your true form. Come, seraph, and taste the blood of my blade! Or, if you will not battle, then stand still so that I may squash you like the pest you are." Asmaria said, her fangs bared. She flew at the angel, her bloodsword held high over her head. She swung her sword down as she approached, hoping to cleave her in two.

Reichelle barely had time enough to dodge the demon's attack, but escaped somehow, though not without losing a few white feathers on the edge of Asmaria's sword. The angel flew towards the back of the library, landing quickly, yet gracefully behind some shelves. To keep herself hidden, she pulled her wings back into herself, then crouched behind a desk. She wasn't one to hide, but she also didn't like to fight, even if Asmaria was the enemy. She preferred to talk things out, to reach a compromise. If all else failed though, she might have to lead Asmaria outside where the sun could reach the vampire's sensitive skin.

Asmaria took the angel feathers off her sword. "The boss'll love these." she said, letting them fall to the ground and land on her trenchcoat. "Come out, come out, wherever you are, my little angel." Asmaria said, landing and beginning to search the room as she folded her wings to move about more freely. She seemed to be sniffing the air. Her excellent sense of hearing was trying to discern a heartbeat or breathing of any sort. She stopped in front of a desk, and turned around. "Come out and play, or are you too weak? That's the thing about angels. God made them too frail. The boss corrected His mistake when he made us demons." Asmaria said.

Reichelle peered out from behind the desk at Asmaria's back. Part of her wanted to call out a retort to the vampire, but the smart half of her told her to stay quiet until she had a better plan. Judging by Asmaria's attitude, Reichelle determined that the demon wasn't going to just change her mind because the angel wanted her to. This was the kind of demon that wanted a fight, that liked a fight, and wasn't leaving without a fight. Well, fine. She would just have to give it her best.

Unfortunately, her best required her own sword, and to summon it she would need alot more time, and alot more space.

Reichelle glanced around from just behind Asmaria's ankles, and her eye landed on the door leading into the staff breakroom. She could lock that and hide in the closet while- No. That was dumb. Asmaria would only follow her in. She still wouldn't have those precious seconds she need to call her sword.

If I do it here, maybe by the time she realizes where the light is coming from I'll have it ... Without so much as breathing, Reichelle held her arms out a little in front of her, then focused all of her energies on summoning her own sword. Tiny pinpoints of light seemed to be pulled right out of the air above the angel's outstretched palms and into the center of her hands, forming a shaft of bright white light. As much as Reichelle wanted to glance over and see if the vampire had noticed, tearing her attentions away from the sword would cause her to have to start all over again. She narrowed her eyes, trying to concentrate harder, and soon the shaft of light had formed a thick, solid object that resembled a sword. Reichelle gripped her left hand around it, feeling the handle of the sword fit to her hand. A few seconds more and she'd have the weapon ready to fight. She only hoped Asmaria didn't notice her until then.

"Come out and play, my little cherub!" Asmaria said, then suddenly, she noticed a bright light coming from behind her. She hesitated for a few seconds, knowing full well what the light of an angel's summon sword could do to a demon such as her. By the time she turned around, the angel had a firm grip on the sword. Asmaria gripped her bloodsword in her right hand. "You are braver than I thought, angel. Indeed, braver than most of your brethren I have faced, who tried to run from me. Of course, they didn't get very far." Asmaria said, laughing.

As Asmaria turned to look down at her, Reichelle slid out from behind the desk, standing straight with both feet planted firmly on the floor. Her wings slid out from her skin again, slowly raising up over her, casting a shadow across her determined features. In her left hand, she gripped the sword, which had gone from its glowing form of light to an actual sword, the handle of which was bound in a thin strip of white leather. The gold crossguard was in the image of wings made out of tongues of fire, and here and there, tints of red could be seen among the gold metal. The blade was a silver, sharp-edged thing about two feet in length, and from the tip to about the middle of its length was gold that looked as if it had been poured over the blade, forming in drippy patterns over the blade of the sword.

"I'll admit I'm caught between a bit of a rock and a hard place. I don't really want to fight you, but it isn't my style to run away. And you're going to kill me if I don't do one or the other, so what can I do?" Reichelle shrugged, still standing before the demon, her stance unafraid and determined.
