Rules:

Well, as rule one (obviously) you must be literate.

Rule two, try to even out the amount of people. If there are seven Demons and five Angels, which side do you think you should join?

Rule three- Don't be satan or god. I'll hunt you down, and bite your head off. (It's true, I do that sort of thing)

Rule Four- By nature, this is a fighting kind of Role-Play. Don't complain about it! xd

Rule Five- Have fun yeah? Make things interesting every once and a while!

Rule Six- You can join whenever you want, don't ask, just post after I've posted my introduction, and my setting intro.

Modern Day- New York

The grass is green, the sky is blue- what more could one want? I mean sure, the air is rather polluted, and the life expectancy has dropped a little bit, but what more could a Demon want? You heard me- Demon. While some Humans dislike this dirty, infested city, it roams the largest population of Demons and Vampires. The surrounding forests and mountains also are home to many of the Lycanthropes.

It was night, and the city was still buzzing with sound. Humans swarmed about like bees at their nest, flying in and out of building in a growing rampage. Lights flickered on and off, and cars zoomed up and down the streets. It was a hectic scene; between the yelling for taxing cabs, and mob beatings- It was the perfect cover for the nightwalkers.

While it was very simple as to what they were, and who they were, it was amazing to watch what they did. While similar to some rapists, they would trap their victims, and do what they needed. The bodies were never put to waste. The bloodsuckers drank the bodies dry, and then gave the lifeless corpse to the meat eaters. Over 100 citizens were devoured every night.

Over the past few weeks, crime rates in New York City had dramatically spiked. Murders had increased tenfold, and missing peoples were never found. This was the first sign to the angels, which told them something was going to happen.

The Demons were feeding like never before, feeding on humans and household pets alike. Demons roamed the street; the ones that could walk during the daylight killed more then they ate, bringing back the bodies. Souls were gathered, food was stocked up, and the demons became stronger.

Rumors spread on both sides, Good and Evil. The rumors said that a battle was to take place, and that it would devastate the planet. While some did not head to the rumors, others readied for battle.

While Heaven has yet to send down their fleet of Angels, some remain on earth. However, many are being fed upon, and now some travel in packs. Everywhere the words are spoken-

The War Is Close.

The beginning of the day was normally signalled by the growing intensity of sound just outside of Reichelle's window, mostly comprising the vroom vroom of cars or the screeching of tires on pavement, and occassionally the loud honking of some angry driver's horn. This day was like any other, beginning with those sounds, and as the sun filtered in through the blinds covering Reichelle's bedroom window she peeked through half-closed eyelids at her room.

"Mm ..." she moaned as she stretched her arms high above her and arched her back. She may have been an angel, but she still needed to sleep, and she still liked to sleep in. Unfortunately, life would not allow for that. While she was here on Earth awaiting the war everyone said was coming, she had to try to live her life as any ordinary human- that included paying rent on a tiny apartment that barely accommodated her, and having a job to do the former. It wasn't much, but working at the local library was as good a job as any. It was quiet, and mostly stress-free. Reichelle liked it.

She rolled out of bed and shuffled over to the bathroom to take a shower. With a sigh she thought, Something interesting better happen today.

Asmaria wrapped the sheets around her, trying to block out the noise of the city morning. She hated morning. So many humans thought that the morning was the start of the new day, when in reality, going by the time system they had developed, the new day started in the middle of the night.

Unable to fall back to sleep, Asmaria rolled over with a groan. She was one of the few of her kind powerful enough to stand the daylight, though she preferred the night just like every other "vampire." She got out of bed with a great groaning from her mattress. A sliver of sunlight played across her eyes as she stood, and she quickly closed the curtain that had let it in. She took a quick shower, then dressed herself in a flowing, black, lolita-style dress and a long trenchcoat. She put on her sunglasses and a baseball cap, adjusting the visor so that it rested over her eyes.

Asmaria opened the door to her apartment, shielding her eyes instinctively from the light in the hallway. She made her way outside, the honking horns and general city noise seeming to mock her pain. Why did the city need to be so loud? It was a horror to her heightened sense of hearing. She threw her arm in the air and yelled "Taxi!" over the city noise. A white cab pulled up to the curb in front of her, and she got in. "New York Central Library, please." she said to the driver as she closed the door behind her.

Reichelle quickly finished her shower, then brushed her teeth and towel-dried her shoulder length, blonde and chocolate locks. Her hair color was an unusual one, containing both light blonde and dark brown in alternating strands, and most everyone assumed it had been dyed that way. Most certainly not; Reichelle's hair color was natural. Looking at the wet strands hanging around her face she thought about this, and it brought a light smile to her lips. She wasn't sure why, but everyone's fascination with her distinctly odd hair color amused her.

Finishing up her ritual in the bathroom, she slipped into a knee-length black skirt with a tiny frill along the edge, and a black top decorated with patterns of pink, silver, and purple butterflies, the design of the shirt matching somewhat with the skirt. While Reichelle wasn't one for ever really tying her hair back, she did slip a few bobby pins into it to hold her bangs out of her green eyes. How could she read book titles if she couldn't see them?

Satisfied with her appearance, she stepped out of her apartment and headed down the stairs to the street. The sun was shining and a warm wind was blowing, carrying with it the scent of hot dogs being sold just around the corner. Well, this was going to be an okay day. This was the angel's thought as she raised her arm and hailed a cab to the library.

Asmaria pulled a flattened breakfast bar out of the pocket of her trenchcoat and opened it, staring at the wrapper as the cab went down the streets of New York City. She really didn't like this human form of sustainance, the taste of human blood was much more appealing to her, but until nightfall, this would have to do. She stuffed the entire bar into her mouth and chewed it. Chewing. Chewing wasn't meant for a vampire. It was meant for werewolves, or lycanthropes, as was their proper name. They were the ones that chewed. A vampire was supposed to suck. But, given her current situation, she had to deal with it.

Asmaria played with her black hair, wrapping her braided pigtails around her fingers as she rode the white cab through the city. This was so boring, and the driver was listening to a tape of someone singing in Chinese over completely annoying keyboard music. If she didn't need to keep every kill a secret to the unsuspecting humans, she would probably kill the man right now just so that she could put on some KISS. But her boss would be pissed, so she just decided to remember how much this music had annoyed her once nightfall came, and track him down then.

Asmaria drummed her fingers on the glass seperating her from the cab driver to the tune of "Hotter Than Hell," hoping that it would annoy him as much as his music was annoying her. She saw his eyes narrow as he heard her drumming on the glass. The driver tapped the glass, then pointed to a sign saying, "Please do not touch the glass," but Asmaria pretended not to notice and continued drumming, this time to the tune of "Thou Shalt Not," the words to the song forming on her lips.

Reichelle let out a soft sigh as she observed the long line of traffic streaming out before her cab. They hadn't moved more than three inches in the past five minutes, and at this rate she wasn't going to get to work on time.

They'll be very upset if I'm late, the angel thought, moving her attention from the windshield to the window at her side. She glanced at her watch, noticing that she had about fifteen minutes to get to the library. She guessed how far away they were and decided that the library wasn't more than a couple of blocks away. Reichelle could walk that.

She pulled out some bills from her pocket and handed them to the driver of her cab, then thanked him with a smile and got out. With another sigh, she glanced around her, wondering how humans, with their imperfect patience, could deal with this sort of thing all the time? Being an angel, she wasn't perfect, but she at least had the patience to sit in traffic without getting too antsy; instead she looked for alternative solutions. Humans just got aggressive.

Reichelle began to walk down the dirty, uneven sidewalk, droning out the din of car horns with her own song, a soft melody that she sang just barely loud enough for her to hear. At least it was better than traffic.

Asmaria let out a long sigh, drumming her fingers on the glass with no apparent rhythm. She couldn't stand much more of this music. She looked out the window and found that they were at the same spot they had been at five minutes ago, they had barely moved an inch. If she would have bothered to look down on the pavement, she would have probably seen a snail crawling by at faster speeds. She let out another exasperated sigh as she thought one thing: This is worse than home.

Taking a small purse from her trenchcoat, she took out a 20 dollar bill and shoved it under the glass. "Keep the change." she said angrily, opening the door and stepping out of the cab. She saw that she was only a block away from the library, and after she made her way to the curb, she looked down at her feet. "Why do you torment me so?" she asked quietly. She continued to the library, and as she did, her heightened sense of hearing picked up the humming of a young woman.

Asmaria turned toward her, and paused. She was gorgeous. Her hair alternated between blonde and brown strands, and her green eyes were the kind that would make any man babble incoherantly at the sight. She wore a black miniskirt and a black shirt adorned with multicolored butterflies. Asmaria felt jealousy and something else bubbling up inside of her. Then she realized what she was humming, some soft melody that irritated Asmaria to no end. She hated when humans were as optimistic as this young woman. Asmaria began to hum loudly to the tune of the Imperial March from Star Wars, matching her steps with the rhythm.

((For those of you that don't know, the Imperial March is what is commonly referred to as "The Darth Vader Song," since it is most commonly and most notably played upon the arrival of Darth Vader.))

At the sound of someone else's humming, Reichelle paused in her own song and turned to see who was being so loud. Her green eyes landed on the darkly-clad Asmaria, though almost immediately her attention was drawn to the baseball cap atop her head. Why on Earth would she be wearing a baseball cap with a dress?

Asmaria turned to look at the woman again and noticed she was staring at her baseball cap. She paused in her humming. Gawd, does this woman really need me to try to explain why I'm wearing this thing? I mean, it's not like I like wearing it with the dress, it's just something to keep the sun out of my eyes. she thought. "What? I'm photosensitive, okay? I don't like the sun in my eyes. If I had something other than a baseball cap, I'd wear it, but since I don't, do you think you could stop staring?" she asked angrily.

Asmaria sighed in frustration. First, the cab ride, now this. What else was going to go wrong today? If things kept going on like this, she wouldn't be able to wait until nightfall.

Reichelle blinked at Asmaria's response to her unintentional stare.

"Oh, I'm sorry," the angel said, an embarrassed expression coming over her features. "I didn't realize I was staring. I just found it curious is all," she tried to explain. "I apoligize if I offended." She ended her statement with an attempt at a smile.

Asmaria saw the woman's smile, and her bad mood began to melt away. It was still there, in the back of her mind, but she barely noticed it. "No, it's my fault. I shouldn't have yelled at you. I should be the one to apologize." Asmaria was confused as those words came out of her mouth. What was this? She'd never apologized to anyone for anything before. Why now, to this woman, who had angered her so with her happy-go-lucky attitude?

Reichelle waved it away, the smile still on her face.

"It's fine. People snap sometimes without meaning to." She chuckled a bit. "I forgive you." She turned to continue walking to the library, then a question suddenly attacked her mind. "It's so warm out," Reichelle said, turning back to face Asmaria, "aren't you hot in that dress?"

Asmaria looked at the woman, who was still smiling. "Not really. This is cold compared to where I'm from... Georgia." Asmaria said quickly, not wishing to reveal her true origins. She reached the library and walked up the front steps, then flipped her wrist around to look at her watch. There was an interesting human innovation, time. In Heaven and Hell, it made no difference how high the sun was in the sky, or which pole was closest to the sun. The only time there was was eternity. Looking at her watch, she realized it was 8:59. "Right on time." she said. She noticed that the green-eyed woman was still a couple steps ahead of her. "You come here, too?" she asked.
