my parents and friends all know a little bit more about mental illness now, probably because i made them, but i still think they are all in denile about it.

no one really talks about it, and no one really seems to care. maybe thats just me!?

They don't seem to care because they know they can't understand it.

Mental illness is still very misunderstood by most. A lot better than it was...but still misunderstood.

Well, here's the things I notice:

A. People who randomly assign themselves a diagnosis

B. People who claim to know *Everything* about mental illness and conditions

C. People who automatically assume you're crazy

D. People who are nice regardless of 'illness' (a lot of these have something themself.)

There's a rather unique sense of stigma within my family.

My mother believes that there could never be anything wrong with her daughter (me). So, when I doctor says "Hey, get it through your head. She's a Schizophrenic." my mother goes to get a second opinion. And a third, fourth, etc.
Then, after I'd been to no less than 6 psychaitrists, a neurologist and a nutritionist, my mother turned to the Church. "She's possessed. She has to be, she can't be mentally ill." she said to many Catholic priests.

My father thinks that I should be locked up if I'm remotely abnormal, because I could be dangerous, which is why he doesn't know about my diagnosis.
