I'd like to know more about romance in this world. Since procreation isn't an issue, how common are romantic relationships? Do people get married? Is it different for City People than Book Children(since I assume many Book Children would have a sense of romance from their stories)? And what about relationships between Book Children and City People? Does it happen? Often? Or is it looked down on?

Vamps here! I am going to say that in general romance is perfectly fine. They (more or less) are still people. Between a city person and a book child... I am not so sure. I would assume (egg might correct me lol) that in general it would be limited to unrequited, platonic, deep friendship type love. Sexual forms of love seem that they would be taboo, or considered perverse by some. Technically book children and City People are two different races, and much isn't known about book children on the whole. Would they get a disease? Would they die? It's very much a mystery ~OuO~

Mundane Egg - Romance is definitely happening! After all, love is more than just a physical attraction. It's a spiritual thing, or whatever. Also, just to clear up any potential awkward questions - City People have those shadow bodies but since they need to eat to survive (and breathe, and so on) you can assume their bodies tend to function like any living thing's... which means that they are, uh, able to attempt procreation. Just that it never produces anything.

For love between Book Children and City People, Vamps pretty much said it. It's acceptable in society for them to have platonic friendshippy love. Romantic City Person-Book Child relationships have happened, it's just "kind of weird" in society's eyes. Not talked about in polite company among civilians, and downright scandalous if you're a politician.
