C. Wait. What? You're just guarding the entrance! The actual running of the event has nothing to with you!
PostPosted: Sun Jul 10, 2011 2:27 pm

Yes! That's exactly it. Except. No. Not exactly it. Of course, you won't be taking the tickets. But you must make sure the process runs smoothly! How could you leave the staff taking tickets to deal with the chaos on their own? Shame on you! Due to your negligence of duty, more soldiers had to be called out to help with the crowd. Tsk tsk. The next morning, you receive notice that you'll be scrubbing dishes as punishment. Looks like you weren't much help! Try again?

A. Man the entrance! Stop those trouble makers before they can make it through!
PostPosted: Sun Jul 10, 2011 2:31 pm

Way to be proactive, young soldier. Behavior like that will surely get you flying through the ranks in no time! But let's get back to the present shall we? It's ten minutes before the festival opens to the public. Crowds numbering in the thousands are waiting anxiously for the doors to be swept open. And then, you knew this would happen of course, some yells 'The gates are open!' A murmur ripples through the crowd. And then one poor civilian tries to bust his way in. What do you do?
A. Distraction! Distraction!

B. Get in his way by standing in front of the door.

C. Bar his way with the hilt of your sword.

Uh. Uh. Uh. You quickly take out your swords, tell everyone to stand back and do an elaborate sword dance. Well, elaborate to the audience anyway. You're really just flourishing your sword fancily. In any case, it seems that the crowd is fascinated, dare I say impress?, with your sword handling. Yay! And in time, the doors open and every crowds through. Except now you need to deal with making sure each festival goer shows their ticket!
A. Why, stand in front of the arch and demand to see their ticket, of course.

B. You and your colleagues demand that everyone forms three orderly lines.

Soldiers spread through the crowd, telling everyone to form lines. And, what's this? They're actually doing it! Haphazard lines to be sure, but it's in some form of organization. And that's good enough right? Great job! Great job! As the line steadily dwindles, your work becomes less hectic. An hour or so later, the front gates are empty and you're already yawning your head off. Another soldier shouts and points in some direction. What's that? Looks like a couple of troublemakers come to crash the party! How will you handle this?

A. You run towards them yelling and flailing to scare them off.

B. Approach them and gently tell them to leave. With your sword firmly gripped in your hand, of course.

Before the civilian can take another step, you stick out the hilt of your sword. Glaring at him out of the corner of your eye, you nudge the hilt against his chest. Away from the doors. And then, of all the bad luck, protests rise out of the crowd. “Raising an weapon against a civilian? Shame on you!” And so forth. The crowd pushes forward in their anger. And somehow, you are grabbed from all sides, pulled into the crowd and spat into the street on the other side. Looks like you weren't much help! Try again?
THAT'S NOT RIGHT..

And it turns out they're all wildly drunk so of course they won't be listening to a thing you say. They'll hear words and think 'you just insulted me and my honor! En guard!' And pick a fight. Things quickly deteriorate. With each person in the group yelling profanities, and jabbing you in the soldier. They gleefully start causing enough of a scene that some people are coming out of the festival to watch! Including your captain! He is not impressed. Your captain has other soldiers escort the drunk men away while he scolds you for your inability to deal with, “A couple of dead drunk men who don't know the sky from the ground!” Looks like you weren't much help! Try again?

Since the end result was the same... I feel like I'm obligated to turn around to start all over?

So, again

C. Crowd control. Help attendees go to where they need to be and answer questions!

Ah, one of the more hectic jobs. You are simply stationed at a specific spot on the festival grounds and flocks of people with questions and issues to be resolved simply gravitate towards you. You are frantically answering questions until you feel a tug on your sleeve. Looking down, you see a sobbing child. “Can you find my mom? I can't find her!” she cries hysterically. You heft the child up and tell her you'll do everything you can to find her mom. But...in a festival filled with more than a thousand people, how are you going to do that?
A. Stick her on your soldiers and have her hold a sign that says “Lost Child!”

B. Walk her to the security tent.

C. Leave your post to go looking for her mother.
