The great oak door heaved a with a loud sigh as it shifted from its normal bed. The tavern owner, a heavy older woman with a mean glint in her eye, squinted in as the noontime sun glared off of the brilliant red hair of a young girl. "ELSA," the large woman known as AnchorAnnie called out cordially before waddling over to hug the girl mostly against her will.

Elsa half-grimaced as the smelly old matron squished her against her belly fat. "It is a rare treat to be in your presence again, Mrs. Wells. Tell me how you have been this week. And your husband, how is Mr. Wells?" The sixteen year old folded her hands in front of her body in a civilized manner and smiled to reinforce her greeting.

At the mention of his name, Smedley stood up from where he had been filling the oven with coal, his long bony face marked with soot. "I'm well, lass." At the subsequent glare from his "dearly beloved" the man stooped once again to his chores.

As Annie waddled over to chat with a few stragglers escaping the hot weather for a cool drink, the girl moved to her usual stool by the unlit fireplace and began to sing a ballad.

As the soft soprano tones slowly wafted through the smoky, acrid tavern air, several of the midday stragglers called patrons lifted their heads from their conversations or lonely mutterings; their eyes strained to see past the strips of sunlight from the high windows to the sliver of a girl's silhouette against the sooty stones of the fireplace, whose glowing embers among the coals kept the night's stew warm until the elderly cook could add to it the leg of lamb he was busy butchering behind the bar.

Elsabeth Braddock, barely appearing a girl with her bound breasts and boyish lack of curves, closed her eyes to the world she was forcibly thrust into and looked back to memories of her mother, singing with her in the lush green grasses of home. If she tried hard enough, sometimes Elsa could smell the wind across the fields instead of the stale salty smell of dirty bodies and sea water; those were the best times. As the haunting Irish melody flowed from her mouth, her heart cried; luckily her real tears had long since dried up and became nothing but more of the salt that surrounded her.

In a very literal rush, and a whild mess of long, slightly reddy brown hair Morgan 'let himself in' to the Golden cuttlas, hoping to be able to rest for a few moments before, or rather if he was followed in by his friend, who was likely to be as fuming as usual. Gally had the temper of a true redhead, with out the hair to give anyone she encountered the courtesy of a warning.
It almost seemed unfair in some strange way. It really did.
Once he had made his slightly over the top, if not quite properly dramatic entrance, he straightened while he tried to let his eyes adjust to the much dimmer light that filled the tavern.
He tugged his waistcoat down a little from where his running had rumpled it a fair amount, and wrinkled his nose at the feeling of the last few remaining grains of sand in his shoe.
If only he liked new boots. He could really use them right about now, it had to be said.
With a shake of his head, his hair sorting itself out to some degree, though stillin its naturally messy style he paused a moment to look around the tavern at the small number of patrons here.
No Gally yet.. perhapse she was walking, or not coming. She did have a tendencey to attack drunkards when she want laying into him. He smiled slightly looking the others over for a moment before making his way up to the bar to have himself a drink. That seemed like a very good plan indeed.
Carefully he rested one hand on the wooden surface of the bar, a soft, friendly smile on his lips as he thought over what he fancied.

A huge burly woman with wild grey hair streaming from under her bonnet waddled over, looking much like a charging bear. "WELCOME TO THA CUTLASS, GOOD SIR! Take a load off'n get comfortable. What can I getcha ta drink?" The woman smiled with rotten teeth save one gold one.

Morgan took in the woman who came plowing her way toward him behind the back of the bar, a smile lighting up his face more brightly.
"Good day Madam!" He called to her, "A fine day indeed, And I am delighted to say I feel most welcome!" he settled himself a little more easilly against the bar, seemingly quite comfortable.
"I'll have a mite of Run, Good lady!" He said, placing some coins on the bar top.
He wasnt a wealthy young man, not by any means, but he had enough to keep himself merry and make sure his mother had the drink that kept her from causing too many problems.
She was a sweet heart, just very angry at Morgans Law breaking father.
Some soft singing caught his attention for a moment, and he looked around himself, distracted once more, to try and find the source. He recognised, very loosely, the vague type of song it was, as some of his mothers drunken songs, if they could be called the had the same ring to them, and his mother was a woman with hot irish blood in her own veins.
But he oviously did know know the land himself.
He didnt stare too long, for it would not been seemly for him to rest his eyes for so long on some young woman.. as the voice said.. or young man as the sillhouette he could see put forth, that he did not know.
He continued to wait at the bar for now.

"Madam, nonsense! Call me Annie! SMEDLEY GET YOUR LAZY BONES INTO GEAR AND FETCH THE RUM!" The older woman ran through several emotions before smilling again at the young man and sliding the coins from the bar with her pudgy fingers.

"Yes, Mrs. Wells." A tall thin man looking rather miserable pushed the rum over to the man and returned to preparing for the dinner crowd.

As Elsa finished the song, she opened her eyes and once agian took in the reality of the Cutlass. With a small sigh she brushed a bit of hair behind an ear and stood to stretch a bit.

Morgan surpressed the smile that the exchange had caused to grow, keeping an at least passingly serious look on his face, cirtainly one that would not get him in any trouble greater than that which he would already be in when Gally caught up to him for his Bo'sun comment, it wasnt that harsh a comment he felt, but he know his friend would see it far differently from that one.
He knew that one for cirtain.
He took a mouthful of rum, relieved to have a drink in his hand again. It definately made the day seem a little brighter. It definately did. As he knew he would have to face up to his mothers rampaging yells as soon as he returned home.
How he would like to leave the island.
He wasnt unhapy, no no, but she was just.. agrovating after years of dealing with her and his never-around-father.
The fact that the singing had stopped was not lost on Morgan either, as he turned slightly to let his eyes review the original source again, an eyebrow raised. If male, the figure was androgynous(sp?) to say the least.. not muscular and masculine.. but then again.. there seemed to be somthing slightly, less feminine about her than Gally for example, but he was not poorly mannered enough to allow his gaze to linger there.
That was one thing Gally had taught him, the eyes were in the face, not lower.

"Anythin' else ya need, sir," Annie smiled sweetly at the boy. Inside she was beaming; young boys and their money are soon parted in taverns. All she had to do was convince him to keep drinking; he'd do the paying.

Elsabeth walked over to one of the long tables and took a seat, moving her elbows to the wooden tabletop and resting her forehead against the palms of her hands.

Smedley carried a glass of water over to the girl and set it down beside her before making his way back to the counter.

The girl grinned a "thank you" to the elderly man as she chugged the water, her vocal chords happily relaxing. Standing she walked to the bar and took her pay from Annie before pulling open the heavy door and walking out into the streets of the Isla.

Annie waved goodbye, but quickly went back to fauning over her patron.

Mildly curious, Morgan looked back at the older woman.
"I Am fair for the moment, I thank you Annie." He said with a smile..
"But perhapse a question of mine you could answer.. who was that singing?" It was the irish song that had caught his attentin over eveything else, he wondered if perhapse the singer knew the land and could tell him of it, for one day he hoped to make it a destination of his own.
"It was a lovely song, and I hoped perhapse to ask where they came to learn of it.." He looked hopefully up at the woman to whom he was speaking.

"Oh her? That's little Miss Braddock. She's got the fiery Irish blood and looks and the voice of a angel. Her voice's enough to sink ships, I guarantee ya, a regular siren that one." Annie smiled; Elsa was almost like a daughter to her. Heaving her extra weight, the older woman grunted as she pushed herself onto a stool. "Would you like a refill on yer rum, kind sir?"

Tracey entered the bar, disgusted by all he saw. He'd never understand why people would want to lose control over them selves with such terrible tasting and smelling concoctions.

He had no idea that his behavior was having any affect on Tia, else he would have been at least feeling a little bit guilty about taking the joy away from something she had like just because he hated it.

He couldn't even stand it on someone's breath, not that he'd have a reason to have smell her breath up close...Derailing his train of thought before it went anywhere, he gazed around.

Not feeling the need to talk right now, he just kept walking in. His hope was that they served something besides alcohol.

Tia follwed Tracey but then broke off abit going ahead to the bar keep. She thought for a moment as she stared at a bottle of rum. She drummed her fingers on the bar stand abit flustered about what to do she glanced to Tracey then back at the rum.....should she quite or indulge in the one thing that had kept her sane on the ship of captain blackheart. Tia sighed flopping on a barstool to watch what Tracey would do.

Tracey prepared for what always happened, then he ordered, "Water." He expected eyebrows to rise, and was glad that only Tia was there. It’s easier for one person to doubt you’re a man or a pirate then a whole crew. Okay, he lied; he'd rather the whole crew be there then Tia.

Tia sighed still not sure what to do.
"...Ru.....wa.....water for me too..." Tia said finaly looking as if she was about to fall out of the stool. Though she was trying not to show it this was hard for her. She could smell the rum and it was driving her insane, but for some reason she would let herself order the rum. Not with Tracey there, she hoped she could get a sip while on the ship, but she couldnt bring herself to drink infront of him.
