Blackguard Spork Mystic Onyx Pardon my ignorance, but could someone explain to me how mods work exactly? I know people make/use them to add custom things to PC games and the like but, since I don't have any and don't look into it, I know close to nothing about them and am curious. Well, that mostly sums it up. It is custom content. You can add more monsters, people, items, dungeons, sidequests, or things that let you cheat. Anything really. It would hep if you said more specifically what you wanted to know. I did ask specifically. "How do they work?"
I know by reading what others talk about what mods do, I just don't know how they work.

I know by reading what others talk about what mods do, I just don't know how they work. Well, it changes scripts, add scripts, adds monster/npc spawns, add item spawns, adds item scripts, add models. That is what it does, that is how it works. I add/subtracts/changes the main game file(s) to, well, modify some part of the game. That help?

I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but all of the mods, unless they are official plugins by Bethesda, are free content and the users cannot charge for them. If they did they would be in violation of the copyrights that Bethesda has on Morrowind (and Oblivion for that matter).
And most sites have a free membership deal.

Hells Abyss Not all of them, most mods in fact I believe you must pay, either for an account to download, or the mods themselves This is a common misconception. You do NOT need to pay for a FilePlanet account in order to download mods from PES. It is perfectly possible to get a free account, the link to that is just smaller and less obtrusive because clearly they want you to pay for premium service. I've never spent money on a mod in my life.
